Title: Abridged Series
Post by: LumRanmaYasha on December 20, 2013, 08:43:41 PM
I wasn't sure whether to make this in the Anime or the Web Toons subforums, but I decided that since most abridged series are anime parodies that I'd just make it here.

I can't be the only one here who watches these. For those who don't know, abridged series attempt to take a show, usually an anime, pick apart it's idiocies and humorous elements about it, mix in some various styles of humor and wit, and turn it into a viciously funny parody to be enjoyed. I think that most abridged series, unfortunately, aren't very good. They either suffer from a lack of poor, repetitive jokes, editing, or overall professionalism. The best abridged series, however, are some of the funniest things I've ever watched. The people behind them actually try to make a legitimate, professional show. They put in real time and effort, and it shows through. These abridged series stand up, quality wise, to some of the best [adult swim] originals like Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law. It's no surprise, because conceptually, abridged series are inspired by those shows, and that is especially in evident in the various homages to them in LK and Team Four Star's works. But the best abridged series really are their own thing, much like those series are. And like them, they are funny as fuck. The best part is that because they stand on their own, you don't need to have necessarily watch the originals to enjoy them. Hell, you don't even have to like the original shows themselves! The humor doesn't just stick to in-jokes and making fun of the originals; it's far broader and reinterprets the characters and plot into something wholly their own.

So what are the best abridged series? Well, here's the ones that I'm currently following:

LittleKuriboh's Yu-Gi-OH! Abridged and Naruto: The Abridged Comedy Spoof Show - The OG abridger. His abridged series are heavily inspired by classic [adult swim] humor sensibilities, and it shows. But more than that, out of all the abridged series, YGOA is so well-done and strongly written that you simply cannot be able to watch the original again. He's versions of the characters have so much more personality than the originals that it's sometimes hard to believe YGOA isn't the real Yugioh. And as for his Naruto abridged, while it isn't quite as clever, it's still fucking hilarious and so, so much more fun to watch than the actual Naruto. Overall LK is a comic genius and still creates gold episodes after all these years. It's hard to pick an episode really emblematic of his work, since there's just so many great episodes from the guy, but I think  this episode (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZSS_VJJC1Y) is a good start.

Team Four Star's Dragonball Z Abridged, Hellsing Abridged, and Attack on Titan Abridged - Easily the most popular abridgers right now, and it's not hard to see why. Seriously, season 2 of DBZA is one of funniest things ever for me and I rewatch it regularly. Like LK, it's hard to pin down the best of their work, but I re-watched the shit out of their Episode of Bardock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0JME7eodTk) video, so I'll go with that.

purpleeyswtf's None Piece and Code: Ment - Focusing on random humor and spontaneity, purpleeyes keeps his videos quick, sharp, and packs so many jokes into a minute that you're left shocked at it's pace. My favorite video of his is his None Piece/Code: Ment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YME40ObCkVI) crossover episode.

Faulerro's Nullmetal Alchemist and Danganronpa Abridged - Not as crazy as purpleeyswtf's or as sharp as LK's stuff, but rather a mixture of both those guys' styles but with a more cynical sense of humor. Really, a combination that just can't go wrong. His best video so far is probably  episode 5 of Nullmetal Alchemist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3TIjIxytuw&list=PLD03D8F1543FE9416&index=7), though honestly all of NA is pretty even in terms of quality for me.

So, discuss and share your thoughts on these and any other abridged series you enjoy watching.

 :joy:

Lanipator's Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged - One of my earliest experiences with the show. Looking back, it's really amazing how Lani is able to mimic all the dub voices (expect Koenma, who sounds like Shaggy). Unfortunately, the series is stuck just before the Black Tournament and it doesn't look like it will be undated anytime soon.

Antfish's JoJo's Bizarre Adventures Abridged - (both the OVA and the 2012 series) - Again, one of my first experiences with this franchise. It actually inspired me to watch the show. Also, Antfish is a really good voice actor. I'd want him to voice at least one character if JoJo was ever dubbed.

Abridg'd Comedy's Abridge on Titan
- I honestly think this is better then TeamFourStar's effort, if only a little.

My current favorite is a toss up between Code Ment, JoJo, and Abridge on Titan.

One series not mentioned here that I like is 1Kids' Pokemon 'Bridged. It mixes absurdity and structure well.

As I've stated in the other thread, I only watch DBZ: Abridged, although I may end up checking out Hellsing along with Yugioh as well. I agree that season 2 is better than season 1, but I've certainly enjoyed season 1 mainly because of Piccolo and Vegeta.

DODGE!!! gets me all the time.

Episode 40 of DBZA is up: http://youtu.be/Qe2FaWzlquM

That was the funniest episode that I've seen in a while. I'm really liking how they're handling Android 16 in this series, and I can just see the unlimited potential for comedic possibilities once Piccolo fuses with Kami, and has to deal with both him and Nail chatting it up in his head.

I've really been enjoying Team Four Star's episode breakdowns. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iDJ_RGQDHQ&list=UUsvazPPlhZlch0-Z3wPByeg) How much work they put into each episode is commendable. I love how they go the extra mile to make the jokes work, adding lip flaps where there were originally none and moving scenes from all over the show into an episode if it helps the flow/scene work better. Professionalism like this is why TFS and LK tend to generally make consistently great work.

Speaking of LK, it's hard to believe the next episode of YGOA will finally end the Battle City arc. He's been on that for, like, 8 years now, so it'll be weird to finally move on to, um, whatever season 4 was about (I don't' remember). It'll be a shame to lose Marik, who is by far LK's funniest character, but I'm sure he'll make more side videos incorporating him, since the Marik/Bakura dynamic is one of the best and most iconic parts of the abridged series.

I've also been enjoying 1Kids' Pokemon Abridged.  The latest episode was probably the funniest one yet, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfbF-cdyJRE&list=UUzsizX25bx5_iUSM0ztdBFg) and  the redub of episode two also had me in stitches. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfbF-cdyJRE&list=UUzsizX25bx5_iUSM0ztdBFg) Child predator Officer Jenny is always way funnier than it should be.  :D

Oh, and has anyone else watched  this abridged series based on Black Lagoon called "Dark Swamp?" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxdnRZbYnzE) I think it's great, myself.

I really wish LK would update his Naruto series more often. :whuh: I know it's just a side-project, but I think it's funnier than his YGO series.

Also, when I made this post earlier:

QuoteThese are the only ones I watch.

I kinda forgot about one at the time. Gigguk's EvAbridged (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoVmS_yfgM6pgKFWmyplRfHfDDaqkOhxx)

I've been a fan of Gigguk for a long time, and when he started an abridged series of his own, his style of humor shines through here.

Due to heavy work and other projects, this series is only updated every 5 or so months. When they're ready, though, they're totally worth the wait.

This was another strong episode, IMO. The way that even this abridged series still hasn't gotten to Cell's reveal yet makes me realize just how damn slow-paced this story arc is, but they cram in plenty of great jokes to keep it entertaining the entire way through. That said, I really can't wait to see how they handle Mr. Satan's character when they finally get to that part in the series. I anticipate him even more than Cell himself, to be honest.
Title: Re: Abridged Series

Yeah, not a lot happened plot-wise in this episode, but they made up for it with a lot of great humor (I love what they do with the androids' escapades, especially). But Cell'll probably show up at the end of the next episode, I reckon'. I also look forward to seeing what they do with Mr. Satan, since he's one of my favorite characters in the series.

I wonder if they'll use his real name or the dub name, or make jokes about both of them.

I can't imagine them not making jokes about his naming debacle. One the one hand, they have just gone with the English names for all of the major characters, like Krillin, Bulma, so on and so forth. But with Satan, his English name, Hercule, is so radically different from his original name in the Japanese version for a very obvious reason, and to me it seems like the perfect bait for parody.
Title: Re: Abridged Series
Post by: LumRanmaYasha on April 06, 2014, 07:10:44 PM
Yeah, jokes about Satan's name are inevitable. I think it'd be funny if they ultimately didn't call him either Mr. Satan or Hercule, but rather his real name, Mark.

It's just part of Toriyama's theme of giving his characters silly names, most of them being puns that you wouldn't get unless you understood the original Japanese version of the names. Like, for instance, Bulma is supposed to be closer to "Blooma" in Japanese, which is a play on words for "Bloomers." Her last name is also Briefs, and everyone in her family is named after undergarments, like Trunks Briefs.

In the case of Mr. Satan, his name is just like that so that Toriyama could make his daughter's name, Videl, another silly name, which in this case is an anagram for "Devil."

You could say he outdoes himself with Pan, since that alludes to the bread, the mythical creature, and the flute.

I love 50% Off, the abridged series for Free! The episodes are short, sweet, and packed full of jokes. It's probably a lot funnier if you've watched Free!, like I have, though.

As far as DBZA goes, I think that the first season (the Saiyan arc), is the weakest, since Kaizer's editing skills were still in development at the time, and the voice-acting and writing needed a lot of improvement. It was somewhere within the first third or so of the Namek arc where they really hit their stride with the editing, voice-acting, and humor. Ever since then, most of the jokes have been top-notch, and even those episodes from a few years ago have still aged really well, IMO.

This season of DBZ Abridged has been on fire. Cell was hilarious, but I can't wait to see what they do with Mr. Satan/Hercule. Shame Yajirobe doesn't really have anymore scenes for them to use for the Cell Saga, he was utterly gut busting in the first half of this season. Android 16 has also been really funny.

As much as I love Team Four Star, I believe None Piece is actually the funniest Abridged series. Almost every episode has made me laugh so hard that I'd get a headache. Shame Purpleeyes' schedule has to be so hectic. How great it would be if only he could pull them out once a month.
Title: Re: Abridged Series
Post by: Dr. Ensatsu-ken on August 25, 2014, 10:38:09 AM
Well, None Piece's humor feels a bit too random and doesn't really strike a cord with me, personally. I tried a few episodes and couldn't get into it. I get that it's a certain brand of humor that doesn't appeal to everyone, though, so I don't really hold that against it. Still, just in terms of ingenious jokes for fans of the actual series, I still consider DBZA to be my personal favorite, and YGOA is a close second for me.

That was well worth the wait. Easily my favorite TFS special so far (which is saying a lot considering how good the Bardock specials were, IMO), and probably one of my DBZTAS episodes in general.

They took one of the most iconic DBZ anime-exclusive stories (which I still personally consider canon despite recent DBZ stuff kind of messing with the canonicity of older specials like this), and did it justice by making the best possible parody of it, yet surprisingly enough left the most memorable dramatic scene of the special completely in-tact to great effect.

Gohan imagining Piccolo's voice in his head and the callbacks to his training with Piccolo (as an analogue to him training Trunks), was my personal favorite comedic running joke of the special. In general, though, the hardcore Dragon Ball references were everywhere in the dialogue, and you can really tell how much the people at TFS are having fun with this. They really are just big Dragon Ball fans like the rest of us.

History of Trunks isn't an anime-exclusive story. It's based on a bonus chapter of the manga included in volume 33 (iirc). The only major differences are that the premise is expanded upon with more details/scenes (which they kind of had to do since a 20-ish page story wouldn't make for a good 45 minute special on it's own) and Trunks is already a super saiyan before Gohan's death. Otherwise, it's perfectly canon, unlike the Bardock special which Toriyama outright retconned with that DB Minus chapter last year.

My favorite parts were definitely Gohan's training with Trunks mirroring Piccolo's training of him, him repeatedly hearing Piccolo's voice in his head, honestly most things involving the portrayal of Gohan in the special in general. Excellent stuff and well worth the wait, though my favorite TFS special is still probably Episode of Bardock.

BTW, has anyone else watched TFS' Xenoverse let's play vids? They are pretty amusing (they have to work Dumplin into the abridged series for a joke somehow when they do the Buu arc), and the game itself looks like a lot of fun to play (though also somewhat frustrating).

Actually, you're right. I completely forgot about that bonus chapter, which is odd considering that I did read it quite a few years ago when I was first reading the manga back in my Freshman year of college.

As for Xenoverse, I've heard mixed things about the game itself, but I'll get around to TFS's LP of it eventually. I am however a fan of the "Krillin Plays" series specifically, though, as it's just a good combination of his character voice commentating and reacting to horror games.

The TFS Plays of Xenoverse is utterly hilarious, considering one of them actually voice-acted in the game. And the character they create... is just precious. Though it takes them about 13 parts to realize they can buy items and make the fights waaaaaay less hard for themselves. Luckily, they're hilarious enough that it's not frustrating to watch.

Looks like Higurashi abridged was actually Faulerro's abridging swan song. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pTDR7LJ350) He's retiring from abridging to focus on other creative projects. I'm going to deeply miss his abridged works, but I hope he's able to be more active in making videos and other projects now. I'm interested in the webcomic he's planning on making, and I enjoy his Rocher Hotel podcasts, so I'm glad to see those will still be continuing.

One thing I noticed was that it was mere days after Episode 47 that the status bar for 48 was already at 75%. And now the status bar for 49 is already at 25%. Are they just going to be pumping these out during summer?

Not as strong as last episode, but everything involving Tien ("Fuck power levels! Fuck Super Saiyans! And! Fuck! You!") and Mr. Popo ("Your father's an idiot.") was gold, as was Goku's genuinely threatening "You're going to die." Good stuff.

Actually, now that I checked out the site, the status bar only says that "writing" is 25% done for the next episode. The status bar actually has three phases to it: writing, recording, and editing, the last of which takes the longest.

When you saw so much progress after such a short amount of time from the episode's release, it was really only that they got that much of the initial phase of making an episode done. So, in short, the next episode is still at least a month away from being completed.

The first 2 episodes of TFS's FFVII Machinabridged are up. As someone who never actually played the game (I know, shut up), but has heard a fair amount about its story from friends, I think that it's pretty entertaining, and while some jokes meant for hardcore fans are lost on me, the bulk of the humor is generalized enough for pretty much anyone to get.
Title: Re: Abridged Series
Post by: Dr. Ensatsu-ken on September 13, 2015, 11:02:44 PM
So, I re-watched all three seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series over the past couple of weeks during my spare time. Here are my thoughts:

Season 1: Ouch! This has aged so poorly. It was honestly barely watchable and made me cringe at how I used to find it so funny back in the day. As the first abridged series ever, though, it's really no surprise that it's so dated early on. You can tell that LK just started doing this for fun, and it was a neat idea, but he lacked both the writing and editing skills to pull it off properly, and his voice-recording equipment was bare-basic stuff, so the audio was garbage. However, as the first of its kind, it became an Internet sensation, and naturally turned into a full-fledged series that spawned a ton of imitators. That said, both this series and a few of those imitators have improved significantly since their initial conception, which is why it's so tough to go back to watching this early material. Granted, the comedic writing did start to pick up a bit by the end of the season, but the editing still wasn't up to any decent standards.

Season 2: This is where the series really starts coming into its own. The first half of the season still has poor editing, but it's a lot more watchable thanks to better writing and voice-acting from LK. The introduction of characters like Marek/Melvin and Ishizu also helped to liven up the more static chemistry of of the main cast at that point. If I had to pin-point one moment in the season where everything clicked and the series became what we know it as today, it's episode 46, which is where the editing, and thus the comedic timing, complimented by better writing and voice-acting, all peaked in quality.

Season 3: This season holds up very well (being the most recent, that's no surprise), and it was a real pleasure to re-watch, especially the filler arc which heavily featured Team Four-Star in the cast.

If I had to pick a favorite character from this series, for me it's Mokuba. I would have said Kaiba, but the more I thought about it, most of his best jokes revolve around Mokuba, as do many of my favorite jokes in this series. Additionally, Mokuba's dialogue is almost always just pure gold. I also like characters like Marek/Melvin, but they can also be a tad one-note which makes them feel over-exposed at times. Still, most of the cast is consistently hilarious by the end of the second season.

You really could view this entire series as a portrayal of the evolution of abridged series in general, being that it was the originator, and is still around today. It's rise in quality is also like a timeline by which other people started getting better at doing these as well, though to be fair, there're only a select few great abridged series in an ocean of shit, even to this day.

Both YGOA! and DBZA!'s first seasons have aged pretty badly and can be hard to sit through. Similarly, both start improving about half-way into their second seasons, and just get better and better from that point onwards.

As for DBZA50, I thought for sure they'd have the episode end with the transformation of Perfect Cell. They've really slowed down the pacing for the series with this season. Not that I'm complaining, since the quality of the show has stayed as strong as it's ever been.

To be fair, this portion of the story was dragged out incredibly long in both the manga and the anime. It's saying something that they've managed to make my least favorite part of the series proper into something really entertaining.

BTW, I loved the Sure you can = Shoryuken play on words joke. I didn't catch it the first time around in the preview, but I did in the full episode.

FFVII/MA Episode 3 is up: http://teamfourstar.com/video/final-fantasy-vii-machinabridged-ff7ma-ep-3/

While I haven't played the game, most of the jokes are general enough for me to get, which makes this series entertaining enough to keep up with. Still, it's nowhere near as tightly paced and funny as DBZA currently is, but few abridged series are ever really great from the start.

I think a lot of DBZTAS's success has to do with Lanipator and KaiserNeko. Lani also did a single season of YYHTAS, and while the editing has aged really poorly like most other abridged series, I felt that his humor was already on-point early on. It's the same with KN and Lupin III TAS. With both of them collaborating on writing, and KN having massively improved his editing skills, it makes perfect sense why DBZTAS is as good as it is, now.

On another note, seeing Antfish involved with this project reminds me of how much I'd love to see him continue with JJBATAS. I also wish that DBZ had more Bardock material to aabridge. He was so hilarious in both specials that it sucks to know that he probably won't ever get a chance to do that character again.

Good stuff all around. Surprised they gave a different voice for adult Gohan here than the one they had for the Trunks special. Apparently this is the voice they are going with for when they cover the Buu saga too. I think it's fine, though.
Title: Re: Abridged Series
Post by: Dr. Ensatsu-ken on November 05, 2015, 07:29:27 PM
I think that decision makes sense for two reasons:

1. Having the entire Son family (minus Chi-Chi) voiced by the same person is clearly an homage to the Seiyuu Masako Nozawa who does the same in the anime.

2. Future Gohan is older than Buu-saga Gohan, but beyond that he's a very different character who has had to deal with a grim past in his timeline, whereas Buu-saga Gohan got to grow up normally and keep his good-natured personality, so the more innocent and softer-sounding voice fits with his character.

It was mostly good, but that ending was LITERALLY tacked on. I don't think switching out one of the villains personalities was necessary. It was fine otherwise, but I wish Kaiser would have been more patient and waited until after they abridged more of the Cell Saga first. Right after doing the episode where Cell announces the Cell Games would have been the perfect slot for it.

Oh yeah, I am so looking forward to seeing their interpretation of Mr. Satan as well. I do wonder how many WWE references they'll have in regards to him as well and knowing how much of a big fan of the original DBZ the staff is, I wonder how they'll handle the Hercule/Mr. Satan thing. My money is on them saying that Hercule was a stage name he took during the PG era of whatever promotional thing he was in.

As far as WWE references ho, giving him a backstory similar to Hulk Hogan is the obvious route, in addition to all of the scandals and back-stage drama that it comes with. That said, I could also see them infusing him with some kind of Randy Savage-like personality like the FUNimation dub did.

Mr. Satan was always written as a comic relief character. He's meant to come off as humorous in the manga and anime. Years later, I still remember that episode very well, and how shocked I was as a kid at what happened. It's easily one of the most memorable and vivid moments in YGO! for me. So naturally, I was eager to see how LK was going to handle it. And he did not disappoint! Really did well poking fun at how contrived the whole thing was, yet still somehow kept the tragic element of it's consequences intact. Really looking forward to seeing how YGOA handles the fallout and the remainder of the season.

Also, really glad he's making Evil Council videos again! Especially since I miss his Marik. Any excuse for him to use Marik and Bakura again is more than welcome in my book.

I enjoyed it but there was a notable abundance of in-jokes and references that only the more hardcore fans would get. While I appreciate those little touches, TFS might want to dial back on those just a little as most casual DBZ fans (and especially those who are only familiar with the abridged series) wouldn't really get anything about a lot of the witty dialogue and its double-meanings.

That said, I'd say that there were more generally funny moments than just the banter. The bit where Goku caused a misunderstanding leading people to believe that he was an abusive husband probably got the biggest laugh from me.

Honestly, this was the weakest of Gigguk's Anime in Minutes series so far. A lot of obvious and predictable jokes, with that overdone "character is mispronouncing word and other character gets frustrated trying to make them say it correctly" gag going on way too long for such a cliche sketch. There were some inspired moments here and there but the script really feels like it was rushed to take advantage of the Bookwalker promotion and release of the movie in theaters.

In other news, Team Four Star may end DBZ Abridged once they conclude the Cell saga. (https://twitter.com/KaiserNeko/status/913458964481892352) Honestly, I think it would be a wise career decision for them now that they're producing official dubs. DBZ Abridged has never been their job, but a passion project, and a time-consuming and legally dubious one at that. It might be time for them to give it up to pursue sustainable careers in the voice acting/dubbing industry. It would be great if they could continue and abridge the Buu saga, but I wouldn't be too sad if they didn't. They've produced plenty of content over the years and I'm pretty satisfied with what they've given us.
Title: Re: Abridged Series
Post by: Dr. Ensatsu-ken on September 29, 2017, 12:00:55 PM
Honestly I'd be fine with it. As much fun as it would be to see them cover the Majin Buu arc, I don't want them to do it if their heart just isn't in it. That doesn't lead to a good quality for their content.

That said, if they were to do a DBZ Kai Abridged style parody of the Buu arc and just cover the whole thing in one short episode, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that.

As long as that doesn't mean the end of TFS Gaming/Stream Four Star, I'll still be happy that they produce products both for mainstream and internet consumption. But still, I would be happily content with them ending at Cell Saga, after all, this thing has been going on for like 10 years or so. What an episode and to end it like that. It's been a while since I've gotten chills from watching DBZ. I only have the Kai editions of DBZ and while the script and dialog is better, the feels is not there. SSJ transformations were always on the epic side of things during the days of Funimation. And that was the last time I got chills. Till this day I remember getting chills from Gohans SSJ2 transformation. It's crazy when fandubs sounds better than the original/remake.

My sister in law got me into Hellsing Abridged as well. Whoever is doing the voice work of Alucard/Cell, give that man an oscar. I thought the v/a for Frieza was top notch, but Cell/Alucard is on another level.

That'd be Takahata101, and yeah, he has become a legitimately good voice actor over the course of DBZA and other abridged series. Most of TFS has improved immensely, which is probably how they got to work on an official dub recently.

And yeah, this episode was well worth the wait. It's a bit sad to know that DBZA will be over after the Cell arc.

Title: Re: Abridged Series

I think it's mainly TFS being tired of constantly dealing with Toei's strikes against them. I know for sure that several of them have stated that they want to keep going with DBZA, but that it's getting harder for them to produce not just because of their increased quality put into each video but also because of their multiple side projects to help fund each new video since DBZA is non-monetizable. And of course Toei isn't making those matters any easier for them. So at this point they may quit if it proves to be more trouble than it's worth.

Yeah, and honestly, they're reason seems sound. I mean, I do feel like Kaiser is a skilled enough editor that he could insert in lip-flaps into just about any scene he wanted for the opportunity to deliver more jokes. However, beyond being a grueling process, I get that they are burned out on doing this after over a decade, so it doesn't make sense to force themselves to do it.

Not gonna lie, haven't been that fond of the ShortZ content, so knowing that's where we'll get any Buu Saga content is disappointing. But on the other hand, with video takedowns and Kaiser making it clear they aren't as enthused with abridging as they used to be, I can begrudgingly understand.

New YGOTAS was fine, but my mind was more focused on how much the Abridging community changed between this episode and the last. DBZA ending due to creator burnout, Pokemon 'Bridged ending because the creator turned out to be an abusive rapist, the rise in long-form abridged series with their own studios and casts over the old model. It's bittersweet.

In a way, while I would have liked to see the Abridged version of the Buu saga and maybe even GT or Super content, I'm glad that TFS got to end DBZA on their own terms. The early stuff is rough and hard to go back to, but they genuinely found their footing midway into the Freeza saga and the series only got better from there. To me, it helped breath new life into the fandom and I'm genuinely grateful for the content that we got. I'm not really into the ShortZ, which feel more as a way to show off their new in-house animation and production value than as a fun parody series, but still, at least they are getting to create the content that they want and I certainly don't begrudge them for it.

Yeah, I'm glad TFS got to end their show on a high note. Interesting though that YGOTAS is the only one from that old era of abridging that's still going, and aside from Hbi2k's series, none of the abridged series from back then wrapped the whole show they abridged.
