EK, Foggle, when you're on and see a new member, check to see if they have a real e-mail account before activating their account. Usually they'll have a made-up one.
The forum is slow tonight because of server upgrades/maintenance being performed by the host. This may happen off and on for awhile. Everything is fine.

And I don't give a shit, because it works perfectly this way. Both of those things were causing major problems.
Version 2 is installed, and seems to be working perfectly. I'll deal with adding new layouts and pictures and stuff once we put it through its paces.

Apparently the forum gets temporarily shut down if I don't log in to the host's forums once every month. I'll have to remember to do that in the future.
Since our host has been fucking us over a lot recently, I've decided it's finally time to make the jump to paid(!) hosting elsewhere.
Which means the forum will be a lot more reliable and faster. Oh, and we'll have a .com domain! I believe I'll be able to salvage most if not all of the accounts and posts made here this time, so the transition should (hopefully; read: it probably won't) go smoothly.
I'll be starting the migration in roughly 3-5 hours, at which point this board will go offline until further notice to increase file transfer stability. Feel free to post as much as you want to up until then, of course.
I will regularly make progress updates via Twitter during the transition. If all goes well, it might even be done tonight. Stay tuned for http://animationrevelation.com!
We're good to go! I've transferred everything over to a new server, and now we've even got a sexy .com domain and 404 page (http://animationrevelation.com/404.html) (it hasn't been activated yet, but should be working soon...) to boot! There are 12 fun pictures that randomly cycle through when you 404... can you find them all? :joy:

Articles are finally back, including the elusive Spring Anime 2011 Clusterfuck that mysteriously never made it into the first WordPress blog. Writing staff can now log in again, as well.
The blog now has a directory! (http://animationrevelation.com/readables/?page_id=291) It's similar to the old system from back when we used BlogSpot, except this one isn't clunky-looking and doesn't require much effort to update. :joy:

The new version of SMF I installed a few weeks ago apparently added a dummy line into one of the PHP files that broke the ability to log in. I just fixed it, so if you had trouble before, it should be working now. Sorry for not realizing this sooner.
Wow, I haven't posted in this thread in over five years.
Sorry about the downtime today. Every time my hosting subscription renews, it seems to break the forum's SQL database, so I had to repair it. And for some reason, my IP appears to have been shadowbanned from logging into cPanel on Hostgator, so I had to access it using the 5G on my phone. It would have been back much earlier otherwise. Technology, man.
EDIT: And now I see that the blog is broken too. I will look into this...

Every fucking year this happens.
I also had to upgrade the forum to the newest version of SMF to make things work properly again, unfortunately this means that the Orange theme no longer works and at the moment I don't really have time to find a replacement or make things look more presentable. I believe this might have something to do with images hosted off-site but I can assure you that the actual important forum stuff is fully SSL compliant. I will look into this ASAP. EDIT: The "mixed content" was some dumb bullshit and is fixed. Should not be any more HTTPS-related errors occurring. But now I've noticed that avatars are broken. I must investigate this too...
EDIT 2: Your avatars are now considered profile pictures for some reason. You'll have to reupload them specifically as avatars from your profile pages to get them to display like before. :wth:
EDIT 3: Now something is broken related to "attachments." No idea what to do here. Looking into it.
EDIT 4: Attachments error has been dealt with. I think. Not sure why this problem even arose.
