These layoffs, WOW!

Something's definitely not adding up here. Last year alone had quite a year when it comes to the bangers that came out. How is it that you have banger after banger (January - current as well) and you making all this money only to be laying off 2000+ workers (I think overall as of right now might be at or near 10,000)? Why buy all these companies only to close up shop?

My mind is all over the place with this. Spider-man 2 and God of War Ragnarok cost $200 million a piece to make!!! Are you serious!? I support both games. I'm a big fan of the Spider-man games, but REALLY? 200 million just to make the game look good? Gameplay-wise you're not seeing that. Content-wise, you're not seeing that. Hell, Spider-man 2 is about 20-25 hrs skipping the side stuff. You can do open world and not break the bank. All these games striving to be AAA when in reality, most of us lives in that AA-B tier.

Whatever Nintendo is doing, my goodness, Sony and Microsoft need to follow suit. If I'm a developer working for either one I'm taking a buyout to become independent at this point, because it has to be nerve wrecking working at Sony and Microsoft not knowing your job's not secure. Like I said, my mind is all over the place with this.

I heard he was brought back to life due to fan outcry, and if true, why? His shrill laugh, redundant power thanks to Mystique, and lack of charisma were repellent.

Watching it now, the 2-part premiere itself is fine but kind of bare-bones in hindsight. Not to the degree of the first X-Men movie, but it doesn't feel like much is happening even though it throws all the main characters at you, gives you a fakeout main character death, and throws giant robot fights at the end. I blame it on Jubilee, she's not great as a POV character and spending an hour with her as the audience surrogate exacerbated that. There's a reason later adaptations either demote her to a minor role or a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo. At least she's a little bit better than when the first film tried to use Rogue as their POV lead while removing most of what makes Rogue interesting?

But as a whole, it's interesting how this and Spider-Man were the successful entries in the 90s Marvel cartoon universe while the others are mostly footnotes that are almost only brought up as memes nowadays. Nobody then knew how to make a Fantastic Four or a Hulk cartoon work?

I'm still early in season 1, and I forgot about the outro. The fact that this looks like a PS1 fighting game render a couple of years before it came out is somewhat impressive, but definitely of its time.

And yeah, I was not saddened to see Morph die... for now.

They really thought they were doing something with this outro animation.

Rewatched the premiere of the old X-Men show, and spent most of it getting annoyed by Morph's laugh. I was almost glad he died, but then I remembered they brought him back a couple times in the show.

More SMT5. Probably about 30 hours put into it now. Most of the time has been a little bit of grinding and sidequests. Story-wise, I want to say it's the same as SMT3 or any other SMT game; angels vs demons and whatnot. The only problem I have with it (along with with the Persona series but then again it's Japan dev's in general) is the usage of kids/teens. This even trickles to anime in a sense. The main premise is school. Kid's being relied on by the grown folks to do the grown folks job. It's pretty much been there, done that. Oddly enough, I caught myself questioning Maximilian Dood and MinnMax about their fascination with Final Fantasy and not trying other JRPGs, and yet, here I am understanding why now lol (Personally, I'm a sucker for JRPGs in general). Just ONE time, Japan, ONE TIME, let grown folks handle whatever the crisis is instead of kids. That being said, I would still play it regardless, lol, just a trope I'm kinda tired of though. I won't do a 2nd play through of this with the announcement of Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. I think I heard that nothing will carry over, so it's basically getting the Persona 5 treatment (Atlus being Atlus). So I'll pick Vengeance up on the PS5. Controls kinda wonky on the Switch.

Fighting games will be on the back burner for a bit. 4 Great games out right now, and the noise behind all of them is a bunch of manchildren doing more bitching. I will say that I've been playing SMT5 so much that I haven't been watching much in terms of the usual content I usually watch. I know Capcom Cup is going down (I think it's been going on the whole week), but as I said, too much noise drowning out the actual tournament for me to bother with it.

I have been getting that feeling to jump back into Nioh again. Coworker trying to talk me into Elden Ring, which I may consider. Exploration has been one key factor that's been becoming important to me lately, almost as much as gameplay. Combat still rubs me the wrong way so I keep talking myself out of it though. Good ole Nioh though, I'm kinda thirsting for. Having a little bit of an epiphany too with Nioh in comparison to other action games. Need to hop into Nioh 2 and try out the fisticuffs weapons first.

Not sure what I'll tackle after SMT5 is done. It won't be FF7 Rebirth (so I'll be trying to dodge spoilers for quite some time).

Watched the first episode of new ATLA, and the dialogue is frustratingly expository. They replaced the admittedly quippy dialogue from the show with joyless infodumps, reminded me of the dialogue from Man of Steel. There's a scene between Gyatso and Aang that was almost word-for-word a scene between Jonathan and Clark. And then it gets redundant too, like when they give two variations on the "Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony..." speech in a single episode.

Quote from: Peanutbutter on July 14, 2020, 09:52:44 PMAh, so I'm likely right then. Ok just as long as they hopefully come out later this year or next year. Was Nomad of Nowhere canceled, though? Because it's second season should have been out last year.....

The creator left Rooster Teeth to pursue a new project, so it's likely cancelled.

The creator's new project has premiered.

Watched Madame Web, and my biggest impression was thinking Dakota Johnson has no idea how to open a can of soda. And the pure confusion in seeing Madame Web knowing that some crazy spider-guy wants to kill three teenagers, so he locates said teenagers, and then abandons them in a forest. And then she abandons them again to take a trip from New York to the Amazon.

Not my favorite channel since I just found it, but I discovered an Orson Welles video essay that had me enthralled.
