Obviously, I missed out on a lot of what happened this year. I... think I heard something about "Blurred Lines," "Royals," and "Get Lucky." Any of those could be wrong but I think my brain keyed those correctly. No idea who did them, where they came from, etc. I'm guessing most are (at this time) 1-hit-wonders, perhaps to get more next year. I dunno.

What happened this year that I missed? What were the great singles this year (since I just can't get behind albums being as broke as I am and free as they aren't, unless you're successful at messing around with torrents or have the time to I.D. them track by track- at least YouTube gives us full access to singles)?
Well, I got so burned out on the road
Too many fags, too much blow
And then Mick and I split up and I said,
"Kid, it's time to take a little bit of a hiatus."
So I got myself a gig at the coffee shop
and I love it.
Why don't you take that corner booth,
I'll take your order in a minute...

Get Lucky is by Daft Punk. I wouldn't call that a one hit wonder. ;)

Let's not underestimate how clueless I can be: I literally hear song titles entirely disembodied from their artists all the time.

All the time.

Furthermore, I haven't been able to assign an album with Daft Punk to identify them...ever. Even in the 90's.

"Blurred Lines" is by Robin Thicke, the son of Alan Thicke. And it's terrible.

"Royals" is by Lorde, and as of now it's her one hit, but her album has gained a lot of traction. I think it's overrated myself.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

I've always liked Alan Thicke myself.

Yeah, they're playing Team by her on the radio now, and all I can think is

1. Yes, her voice is great, but she sounds so bored singing those songs.

2. All she seems to sing about is rejection of living the big time fame, but does it by over-glorifying the "living in a small town, not giving a shit".

3. She doesn't finish that fucking stanza in "Team" and it irks me to no end.

"I'm kind of tired of being told to throw my hands up in the air,
So there."

So there? SO THERE? The previous line was long as shit! Learn to write!  :unimpressed:

You know what song I've been liking? "Timber", Ke$ha and Pitbull's new song.

You know what part about it that I do not like? Pitbull's.
