Jojo
Edit: Whoops, sorry. I didn't read due to trying to secure the Jojo victory asap. I prefer the two comic books move on method, either way. And I am still picking Jojo fir the tiebreaker.

No worries, I don't mind sticking with our usual format. Besides, I'd like to move on to the next match anyway.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Death: The High Cost of Living move on to Round 2.

Round 1, Match 2:

Batman Dark Victory by Jeff Loeb & Tim Sale

Vs.

100 Bullets by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso

Vs.

Excel Saga by Koshi Rikdo

Vs.

Corto Maltese by Hugo Pratt

Vs.

Lone Wolf and Cub by Kazuo Koike & Goseki Kojima

--------

My votes:

Corto Maltese
Lone Wolf & Cub
100 Bullets
Excel Saga
Dark Victory

I really hope that at least one of Corto or Lone Wolf move on. They are both great comics, well deserving of their status as classics of the medium.

I wanted to finished Samurai Executioner first but I will put Lone Wolf & Cub on hold now.

Excel Saga -
Spoiler
Peerless social satire and all-around excellent comedy with a hilarious, diverse ensemble cast and an interesting story that is at times confusing but also really intriguing and full of big philosophical ideas. There's really nothing quite like this series out there and Rikdo Koshi is a unique talent I'm hoping will draw another manga as great as ES in the future.

Lone Wolf & Cub -
Spoiler
By far Koike and Kojima's best work, with two iconic leads in Ito and Daigoro and one of the all time greatest manga villains in Yagyu Retsudo.
[close]

Batman: Dark Victory -
Spoiler
Really cool mystery that re-invents Robin's origin story and the fall of Harvey Dent to tie into Bruce's loneliness and sense of loss after Harvey became Two-Face. One of the best Two-Face stories there's ever been without a doubt.

Corto Maltese -
Spoiler
Read Ballad of the Salt Sea and really dug it. Corto is a fascinating and fun character, came across to me as a cross between Indiana Jones and Cobra in a sense (I know he predates both of those characters by decades, couldn't think of another comparison). Also really enjoyed all the characters in general: The Monk was mysterious and more complex than your typical enigmatic chessmaster, the kids were sympathetic and you wanted to see them return home safe, Rasputin was a riot, and Quarto was just all-around cool (shame he died...). Definitely want to check more of this series out at some point.

100 Bullets -
Spoiler
Had me hooked in it's first trade with Dizzy's story and the mystery behind Agent Graves. The second arc with the guy who was wrongly convicted for having child porn on his computer was interesting too in what it was setting up as this big conspiracy involving Agent Graves and powerful people in high places. Has me intrigued and eager to check out more down the line.

Please do. 100 Bullets is my favorite comic book series. Well, I guess The Walking Dead is now since it is fresher in my mind. Also, awesome new festive signature!!
Hopefully I will have most of these in a few days. Tis the season.

Glad to see that more votes have been coming in. I figured that the tournament would come to a grinding halt during the season and all.

Quick update: I've decided to keep this match open until sometime after new year.

Well, its Sunday and I think everyone's been given ample time to vote. So, let's take a look at the results, shall we?

Batman: Dark Victory: 9 pts
100 Bullets: 7 pts
Excel Saga: 9 pts
Corto Maltese: 8 pts
Lone Wolf and Cub: 12 pts

Well, looks like we have another tie on our hands. As usual, I'll need one more vote for either Dark Victory or Excel Saga.

I'm sorry that I couldn't vote for this match, but I'll give a vote to Excel Saga.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

Excel Saga and Lone Wolf and Cub move on to the next round.

(Sorry gun, but I'm afraid you were a bit late).

I'm going to take this opportunity to remind everyone that once the results are posted, the match is over. If there's a tie, then one extra vote may be given to either of the titles that have the same score. That said, I am considering adding a new rule, stating that you can only vote in the tie-breaker if you've also voted in the actual match. Are you guys fine with that? If so, than said rule will be effective starting with the upcoming match.
