We have a thread for Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry, so why not one for the cartoons from Walt's days?

The ever-awesome Yowp, normally a Hanna-Barbera expert (which really deserves a thread of it's own), posted this short on his Facebook the other day.

It's one of the Goofy shorts which looks at society at the time while admittingly not having Goofy keep his traditional traits. It's still a funny short, probably a bit harsher than a good deal of Disney shorts from the time, which makes it such a fresh change of pace. Check out Goofy's facial expressions from about 1:37-1:42. For a studio that typically tries to stay as on-model as possible, there are some great shots in here, almost Warner-ish.

Yeah, this one is a pretty good short.  I love watching as "Mr. Wheeler" flies off the handle behind the wheel of the car, and I remember the bit where he's racing the other cars and crashes into the light post was probably my favorite scene as a kid watching it on old-school Disney Channel.

Anyways, you want I to post some shorts?  I'm not necessarily going to post my favorites, just some good ones that I think people could start out with.

After linking to "Friend Like Me" and reminding kids in my Comm class that Walt died 25 years before Aladdin was released, I feel like watching it again. I'll pull my DVD out later.

I love Goofy's Gymnastics. I watched that last year for the first time since I was a kid. I laughed SO HARD when the woman hit Goofy with her shoe.
