How did they ever get Leapfrogs on the air?

Anyway, here's a topic for the best Nicktoon. Let's discuss why we love it so.

I posted this elsewhere, but yeah, here's a reason why I love the show so much.

I doubt any other show today would get away with something like that.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

That was a funny clip you posted, Avaitor.
I think Rocko's Modern Life got away with more adult gags and references than Ren & Stimpy did.  :sly:

I will say this: Ren & Stimpy didn't have a fast food joint named Chokey Chicken.

Speaking of which I remember seeing old articles calling Rocko a Ren & Stimpy rip off. I wondered how? Rocko's humor is mostly innuendos only adults and older kids would understand while R&S was usually just gross out humor. Just because they both feature anthro cartoon animals doesn't make them the same.

But yeah Rocko is one of my favorite Nicktoons. I think it's aged better than most others, especially Ren & Stimpy.

Rocko is getting a retail DVD release from SHOUT! Factory. Which is a good thing, considering Shout treats their DVD releases pretty well from what I hear. The only DVD I own from them are Sam and Max, and it was a pretty respectable release, filled with a good amount of bonus features.

Spark Of Spirit

If it's Shout Factory, they'll probably use the uncut Canadian stuff.

Fucking awesome news, though. The show finally gets the respect it deserves.

Sounds legit. Sold. Good day.

Don't know what else to say, but FUCK YES.

Heads up, it's currently 13.99 on amazon.com if you got the chance.

Here's hoping Shout gets in contact with Joe about this soon. We need some epic bonus features.

We need some non-Pony discussion on here again, so Rocko's thread gets a necessary bump.

Love this episode.

Bad news on the Rocko DVD front:

http://joemurraystudio.com/blog/?p=2778#comments

According to Joe Murray, Nick is keeping him out of the loop on this release (rejecting his involvement), basically meaning no special features. Unless they decide to do something without him (which... is highly unlikely), it looks as though this'll be a standard, bare-bones set.

Well... what else can really I say here? Nickelodeon, I am disappoint. I just don't understand why they're even the one making the call here, and not Shout; it isn't a Paramount release, it's a sub-license to a 3rd party. Why the hell do they feel the need to butt in?

Avaitor

Nick probably doesn't want another incident like Jhonen's original artwork for the second Invader Zim DVD volume, which is why they would keep an eye on Joe. While Rocko definitely got away with a lot, I don't think Joe would misuse the right to work on the DVD if given the chance to, since he doesn't seem like as much of a hell raiser or oddball as Jhonen. I don't think anyone who has worked for Nick would be as much of a hell raiser as Jhonen, except for maybe John K, and even he got to work on the DVDs.

It's just a bum deal all the way through. I'm a little disappointed now, and I'll be even more disappointed if the DVDs are edited. I'll still buy them, but I won't be happy.

Thanks Jhonen, you ruined it for everyone else by pissing in the pool.  :bleh:

Shout Factory would have worked with Joe to make the best possible product, too.

Oh well, not much to be done about it now. Here's hoping Shout can at least get help from the fans on this.

I remember reading on the Shout Factory forums a while back, and Brian Ward said that they were even having trouble getting bonus material for the Thornberrys set. He said they were trying to get stuff, but Nick isn't really budging on it at all. That was about a month ago.

It really is looking like Jhonen's antics have taken their toll on the whole Nicktoons library. I mean, if Nick is actually afraid the guys from Klasky Csupo are going to be too risque in their bonus material, good luck getting anything from anyone else.

Avaitor

Nick has had some less-than-great connections with the KC staff in recent years, though. Jerry Beck wasn't even able to get Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo, and Paul Germain to comment for his Nicktoons book a few years back, and he was able to get both Jhonen and John K.

But it does look like this stems more from Jhonen's antics than personal feuds with the network. A damn shame, since I'd love to get bonuses on these releases.
