Spark Of Spirit

I just got around to watching the premiere, and thought it was pretty funny. I'm glad to hear it was renewed for a third season, as it looks like it'll keep me entertained for a while.

The first episode is pretty good. It really picks up by the end of the season.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

I think Jeu Monegasque is my favorite episode, mostly for the flashback scenes to Archer's childhood (why was he dressed as Hitler?), although the car-chase in the end was great as well. Either that episode or Skytanic it's really hard to choose, since the series so far has held a consistently high quality. I can't really think of an episode from the first two seasons that I didn't enjoy.

So the greatest hour of TV is starting up in a week. I for one cannot wait.

One of my favorite clips to pass the time until then.

Edit: Oh dang, didn't see that you were going to post. Great choices, too.

I hope Popeye gets a bigger role in season 3, I want more Evil Lester Freamon. I also wonder if we'll ever get to see Trudy "I'm on the co-op board" Bleakman in the flesh (so to speak)? If so, here's hoping she's voiced by the same actress that played Lucille Bluth's neighbor on Arrested Development.

I Agree that season 2 is great.

Oh man, yes. That would be amazing. I love that callback in "Killing Utne", when Archer notes that Malory "just can't get along with her neighbors anywhere".

And yeah, I'd love to see more of Popeye and Lester Freamon. That might just happen, too.

Avaitor: Lester Freamon is a character from The Wire. I referred to Popeye as "Evil Lester" because Clarke Peters portrays both characters. Not to mention the fact that Popeye basically look like a cartoon version of Peters:

I screwed up, haha, but I was aware of Peters' roles on both shows.

Silly me.

Anyone else catch the premiere?

Very good stuff, but I do not recommend it if you haven't seen the last two episodes of season 2. Patrick Warburton's character works as a good contrast for Archer, and the main cast still had some good stuff. This is going to be a great arc.

This arc just gets better as it gets along. Again, Patrick Warburton is put to great use, and Archer remains a great foil to both that character and himself. Meanwhile, it's good to see Lana and Ray feud for once, instead of just agree on their mutual love/hate for Archer like they typically do. And the way they all meet up at the end leads the way for what I'm expecting ot be an explosive finish this week.

Also, highlight from the ep.

I agree wholeheartedly: So far, this story arc has been excellent and further cements Archer as one of the best new animated shows.

Speaking of which, one thing I like about Archer is the fact that the ISIS personnel, despite being pretty horrible people are all very good at their jobs. It's a refreshing change from all the comedy protagonists that are so mind-bogglingly incompetent that one has to wonder how they've managed to have their jobs for so long.

After watching the last part of the premiere arc, I realize that not putting the show on our list was the biggest mistake we made.

It's top 30, easily, but even it made it near the end of the list due to it's relative newness, that would be fair.

They really pulled out all the stops on the 3 part premiere but now it's... gone? I hope it will be back soon though I do have some backlog of episodes to watch in the meantime so that's alright I guess.

Patrick Warburton and David Cross were great temporary additions to the cast. I hope their characters show up again.

They're taking a hiatus right now to air the new season of The League in its place. Archer will be back in January, shortly after season 2 comes out on DVD/Blu.
