LD Talkback #4

Yeah, as I said earlier, I actually enjoy this one to a certain degree. Its not a particularly good film by any stretch (hell, its borderline "ok") but Jeunet's sick grand guignol sense of humor makes it much more entertaining than the disaster that was 3. And the ultimate fate of the Wayland Yutani corporation (revealed in the even sillier Special Edition) is hilariously ironic.

Definitely better than 3: that point cannot be emphasized enough. 3 was just so goddamn awful, even a mediocre movie like this is practically an arthouse masterpiece by comparison.

I don't care for it, but I can still watch it if I'm bored enough.

...on another note, I still get a kick out of seeing Winona Ryder's name being billed on the front of a movie poster. She's fallen just about as far as this franchise has (though, I guess she's doing more now than she was five years ago).

I saw this movie last night. I have to be honest and say that I didn't dislike it as much as I did Alien 3. To me, Resurrection was mostly just dull and forgettable, and also pretty over the top, whereas 3 actually frustrated me and ruined the franchise. Overall though, I really don't have a strong opinion about it. It was a very safe movie.
