Hmm, this is pretty interesting.  It's a little too Tom and Jerry though; I don't remember that much violence in other Sylvester and Tweety's.

Thoughts?

I quite liked it. CG's polished, Mel Blanc's voice is remastered to the point that it sounds like he's still here with us, and much more. Too bad the elitists will nitpick at it.

I thought it was pretty cool. Pretty expressive CGI work, nicely detailed, and some nice bits of slapstick. Felt like what I expected Looney Tunes to be like when it jumped ship to CGI.  This makes me realize I never caught the CGI Coyote/Road Runner shorts that were attached to random movies.

It's here! Gonna plow through this soon.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

hahaha, wow. I tuned into CN to catch a short, and saw that they rate the block as TV-14 now. Holy crap.

So I found out about this exhibit! The link has a few events in there, which I'm definitely considering hitting up when they come.

Yep, I got to go. It's a fun exhibit, with a lot of great artwork, and even some Lego designs for various Looney Tunes characters. It's almost done here though.

A third Blu-Ray set is happening.

According to Jerry, it may be the final? There's a lot of repeats from the Golden collection, but a few new released shorts are here, and there's at least one new doc planned. Looking at the selections, this isn't a bad way to go out.

A Mickey Mouse(or at the very least a very close look a like) appearance in a Looney Tune short.

My girlfriend never really got to watch any Looney Tunes shorts before. By the time she was allowed to watch Nickelodeon, they were long gone, and she wasn't allowed to watch CN at all until her siblings were born, so her primary exposure to the characters was watching TLTS with them. Which she liked, but it's not the same thing.

I've shown her a few shorts here and there, and she's really starting to like them. I started off with "The Dover Boys", which is such an important piece of work that is hard to not admire, then worked my way into some Bugs, Daffy, and Sylvester & Tweety. Now I need to find the right Road Runner.

I like how they hold up well for her, since it proves that these cartoons were never just kids stuff. The best ones are absolutely timeless.

I recently got the third Platinum Collection, and it's a bittersweet feeling to have all of these, with these cartoons looking the best that they have in years, but with no plans for more releases, on Blu or DVD. There's plenty of great shorts that still haven't been released on either format, or even on video at all.

Ah well. There are so many great shorts on this release, at least.

80 years ago, the greatest cartoon character of all time had his first appearance. So, happy anniversary! :happytime:
