The weird thing is that he likes Firefly and Serenity, but hates everything he does, and that's what I don't get. It's normally either one way or the other with Joss.

I have reservations about him, too (as you all know). But I always call a spade a spade.

The Avengers was a terrific film and Joss Whedon did a phenomenal job.
