When do you think they'll order another Indy flick to go with the new trilogy?

I thought he was already doing one.
Actually the only thing I desire out of this now is Jack Sparrow Vs. Guybrush Threepwood.
I still want another Howard the Duck.
Or... not.
Actually, a reboot done closer in spirit to Gerber's original work would be pretty cool, and now that Disney has both Marvel and Lucas, I wonder if they've put 2 and 2 together yet. Because say what you will about the movie, but the actual comics are quite clever.
I just want some Thrawn.

Thrawn Trilogy is 20 years past its feasibility date.
I don't care. Thrawn time is now time.
And judging from the reactions, so many people on my timeline need some Ritalin or Preparation H.
QuoteSTAR WARS: EPISODE 7 feature film targeted for release in 2015.
:unimpressed:
Well, if nothing else, it's official that Indy is staying with Paramount. This purchase is all about Star Wars.
lolwut. What a bunch of random, it's even hard to be angry at the thought of more Star Wars movies, because the idea of Disney just up and buying Lucasfilm is funny as fuck.
Although they do own Pixar, which has it's beginnings in Lucasfilm, so I guess this was just natural progression...
That has me thinking, do you think Disney would try to buy Apple next?
I just thought about that since Steve Jobs helped get Pixar running and all.
Nah, Apple is way too expensive.
Quote from: Dr. Insomniac on October 30, 2012, 06:46:15 PM
Nah, Apple is way too expensive.
Also what I was thinking, but you'd figure that Disney can afford it.
People on GAF are wondering who Disney is gonna buy next, you know after them buying Marvel and now Lucasfilm. Some names thrown around were Apple, Sega, Nintendo, Lego, Hasbro, and for some highly unlikely ones, Nickelodeon, Dreamworks, and Warner Bros.(in order for Disney to aquire WB, they'd pretty much have to buy out Time Warner altogether, and I don't see that happening).
I'm surprised that they haven't bought Ghibli outright by now, and made a park for their films.
Of course, that ship has sailed since they recently lost the distribution rights to the studio's movies, but you'd think that they would have done that after Spirited Away took off nationwide.
:imnothappy: So Episode 7 is really coming out? I was in complete disbelief when I heard about that on bloodyelbow.
Also, I didn't know Disney owned ESPN and ABC.
Since '95 brah. Remember how ABC's Saturday morning programming suddenly turned into Disney owned properties at that time?
Hell no. I never paid Disney programming much attention.
Fuck you, Recess was the shit.
:thinkin: Now I think I kind of remember.
Don't forget The Weekenders.
Pepper-Ann was okay too.
What about when Doug suddenly ended it's run on Nickelodeon, only to show up a year or so later on ABC with "Brand Spankin' New!" episodes? That's because Disney bought out Jumbo Productions at the same time they were buying ABC, and they thought "Hey, what better place to promote this cartoon than our newest aquisition?"
Oh so that explains why Doug was on Disney.
And fuck both of you and Desen.
I'd tell you to slam your dick in a steel door, but you'd have to have a dick in order for that to take place.
But why Desen? He's not even here, he's probably slumming around the great white emptiness of Canada playing Sonic or something.
Pretty sure he already wants a piece of you for preferring Sonic 2 to S3&K.
And people call me the abrasive one.
Nah, I call you Ponyboy. :P

But I'm not even a brony. :rtard:
Stay gold, Insommy.
I can't really say this news bothers me much either way, though.
I'm kinda suprised Disney didn't go for a full-blown TV series or something. Hopefully Star Wars 7 will actually make SW movies decent again with Lucas not involved.
Eh, they're already making that Star Wars comedy show, so it'll probably go on XD now, probably along with Clone Wars repeats too.
Sorry guys, never cared enough about Star Wars to actually rage over this so-called "decimation" of the franchise (pssh, as if
this is really the straw that broke the camel's back; Lucas himself hasn't even been kind to it in decades).
The news is pretty... well, interesting, though, to say the least. Kinda funny, actually (what? It is.).

Damn straight it was. 8)
I imagine it would probably be horrendously dated if I actually watched it today, but damn it all, I loved that show growing up. Sue me.
Pepper-Ann was my bread and butter.

He can't even have my dead skin flakes.
Does this mean Muppet Babies can finally get a release on DVD?
Oh shit, speaking of Disney's Saturday morning cartoons, you know what other show kicked ass? Fillmore!
I remember in 5th or 6th grade, I registered to become a safety patrol officer at school just because of it, until I learned that they don't get to be as awesome as Fillmore or Ingrid 3rd did.
Fillmore! was awesome. It was like a noir for kids.

Is it wrong that I found the trailer for
Star Wars Detours more interesting than the entire 5 seasons of
Clone Wars?
Something's actually named Star Wars Detours???!!! That sounds like clearly filler shit.

True, but one could say the same thing about
Clone Wars.
That's what this one thinks about Clone Wars.
So, does that mean we'll be seeing the 'pixie dust' swept Magic Kingdom logo for Disney before the Lucasfilm logo? If it is then that's going to take some getting used to.

It'll probably be like their Marvel deal and have no real immediate change.
News everyone.
It looks like Disney has opted to pull the plug on Star Wars: The Clone Wars rather than move it to Disney XD, and Star Wars: Detours has been placed on indefinite hiatus. (http://www.wired.com/underwire/2013/03/disney-clone-wars-cancelled/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Top+Stories%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher)
I honestly won't shed a tear over Clone Wars since I stopped watching it when the Stranger from Oddworld, er, um...Cad Bane showed up, and I was never able to get into it for reasons already stated, but I was actually looking forward to Detours; some of the gags in the trailer were kind of funny, even though the Robot Chicken guys have kind of done Star Wars parodies to death. Maybe they can do a Detours type show based on the DC Universe instead.
I gave Clone Wars a season. I liked some of it, particularly Paul Dini's episode, but it didn't seem like there was any need for the show to exist. There's only so much time that takes place inbetween Episodes II and III, and I'm pretty sure we all know what's going to happen by the time the show ends.
If Disney XD doesn't pick the show up, the staff behind it should still feel proud. It's pretty rare for a kids show to make it to 100 episodes without counting in major overhauls, and a hell of a lot rarer to go into syndication in today's climate. That deserves some applause.
Well, this is interesting.
Despite being cancelled, season 6 of The Clone Wars finished after all. (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/29119/-clone-wars-final-season-coming-early-2014)
I wonder if it'll air on CN or hop over to Disney XD.
Hmm...perhaps Toonami will finally have a western action cartoon to air premieres for.... :thinkin:
I've only seen a few clips of season 5, but considering how "dark" they felt, I wouldn't be surprised if season 6 did air in a primetime or late-night timeslot.
Season 6 will premiere on February 15.
In Germany. (http://www.theforce.net/story/front/Report_The_Clone_Wars_Season_Six_Episodes_To_Air_In_Germany_Next_Month_156222.asp)
The final season is also premiering on Netflix in the U.S. and Canada on March 7. (http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/02/13/the-force-is-with-netflix-final-13-episodes-of-star-wars-the-clone-wars-to-premiere-only-on-netflix-in-u-s-and-canada)
So I figured I'd post this question here, as I'd like to get some opinions on it from some of the Star Wars fans here.
You know how, in the prequel trilogy, Yoda is shown using a light saber? Did anyone here ever think that sort of clashes with his persona in Empire Strikes Back, where he is presented as more of a "sorcerer" type who wouldn't resort to a light saber?

I know, but it's one of the few Lucas things that fans seemed to love.
http://www.joystiq.com/2014/04/26/star-wars-expanded-universe-including-games-no-longer-canon/
Not that it matters a whole lot, but apparently, all that Star Wars Expanded Universe stuff has been declared non-canon. All those comic books, video games, and pieces of literature aren't in the movie continuity, and is basically fan fiction. Probably a good idea, particularly so they can make the sequel trilogy and not clash into any Expanded Universe story elements.
Wait, how would the newer Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon even fit into the canon?

Doesn't that just take place between Episodes II and III? I wouldn't know as I haven't seen it, but I assumed it avoids making continuity errors. I'm pretty sure that never even qualified as Expanded Universe, really. I think it's still canon. Lucas was involved in it, after all.
Didn't they bring Darth Maul back from the dead and a bunch of other fuckups?

I honestly don't know as I really didn't follow the Expanded Universe stuff, though I don't see how the guy could get back up after being sliced in half and then falling into a dark hole. I wouldn't doubt that you're right, though.
I thought you were the one who was talking about Darth Maul being in Clone Wars awhile ago. I forgot who it was then. Someone said he came back in some machine that I assume helps him walk.

That's how I remember it. I don't remember if they killed him off again, though, since I didn't really keep up with the show (just caught the occaisional episode when it was on).
He was still alive at the end of Season 5, I know. (I only see it on DVD.) He also made an appearance in the new Star Wars Lego DVD, The Yoda Chronicles, with the Lego version of his mechanical legs.
Star Wars Lego seems to be taking themselves a bit more seriously now. The plot seemed like something that could have come out of the Clone Wars cartoon, instead of a mass of jokes from start to finish. Not that there wasn't still a fair amount of parody goofiness to revel in.
So that confirms that the Stars War continuity is still a mess.
Re: The Clone Wars as canon: I just Asajj Ventress in pictures for Star Wars Weekend at Disney World, so I guess it isn't a part of the EU... somehow.
What made you think Clones Wars would be part of the EU? They do reference it in the movies.
Also...
QuoteLucasfilm announced that only the six Star Wars films and the Clone Wars television show will be considered canon.
If only they could retcon that to the original three movies.

We'll see if this is actually happens.
I watched the first two episodes of Rebels earlier today. They were serviceable, though too derivative of not just other SF shows, but of other Star Wars properties.
