As always, please watch every ending in a match before voting. It won't take a whole lot of time, and it's the fairest way of making votes in a round where you don't know some of the openings. Remember we are judging the endings, not the shows we are for, so even if an ending is from a series you don't particularly care for please still watch it.

My Picks:
"Kaze-wa Mirai-ni Fuku" - I associate it just as much with the show as I do "H.T." I particularly loved the first and last images shown in this; Vash staring out into the vast desert at dusk, and him looking at the ruins of the ship at dawn. Iconic images right there, at least for me.
"My World Down" - I overall just love the song and the surreal caricatures and images shown here.
"SCARS" - Solid. The song grew on me after a few listens, and I do like the theme they went for in this one, even if I'm not generally a fan of clip-show openings and endings.
"Guidepost-Alien's Messiah" - I like the song a lot, though it's really simple visually.
"Kaze-wa Mirai-ni Fuku" - The imagery of Vash finally not having to fight anymore sandwiched between images of his travels says it all. The music is as great as anything else in the show and the lyrics are perfect-- especially the last two lines. One of my favorites.
"My World Down" - Catchy alternative rock with creative imagery that shows all the influences of the main characters. Another of my favorites.
"Guidepost-Alien's Messiah" - Good song, but the visuals are pretty plain.
"SCARS" - Not bad. The actual song is my least favorite of the four, though.

"Fantasy" - Beautiful song and visuals that capture the idea that Godai and Kyoko are both trying to seek out a "fantasy" apart from each other, though their lives continue to revolve around the other. I love every scene in this.
"Tactics" - The dubbed version of this song is way better than the original, imo. Probably my favorite Kenshin ending.
"Mouichido Kimi ni Aitai" - I like how Kaname and Sosuke are walking side by side in this ending, considering the events of TSR. The song fits perfectly as well.
"Merche Funebre" - Classical music is always a plus. Fits with the tone at the end of the episode too (iirc).

"Red Shoe Sunday" - All of the DoCo songs are great and Viz did a good job dubbing this one. I actually might like their version more than the original.

Ooh, a toughie for me:
"Ride on Shooting Star" - FLCL might not have an opening theme, but does it sure have one dang fine ending theme. One of the best.
"Kokoroboisona" - The song is a classic. Anyone who has watched the iconic episode "After You've Gone" can't help but remember that scene while listening to it. The visuals in this one are also a lot of fun and a step up from "Uchuu," which was the deciding factor for me when choosing between the two.
"Uchuu wa Taihen da!" - But that said, this song perfectly captures the spirit of the series like no other. And considering how many great songs UY has in it's repertoire, that's saying something.
"Concentration" - Solid, but I can't say it resonates with me nearly as much as the others.

"Every Day" - Just a great UY ending with an excellent song and memorable theme and visuals. Made an awesome pair with "Rock the Planet" too.
"Fukai Mori" - Not my favorite of IY's endings, but the song is memorable and I really like the parts showing Sesshomaru visiting his father's grave and then the corpse of Ryukotsusei (the demon who killed him). It's a good reflection on how much his father meant to him and his motivations in the series.
"Moon on the Water" - The song is well-dubbed (and superior to the original) and highly memorable, and though the visuals aren't much they capture the mood so well that it works anyway.
"I Wish" - I really liked the song, as well as it how it showed all the digidestined and their digimon in their various evolutions.
InuYasha - "Fukai Mori" - InuYasha has problems, but the EDs are rarely among them. This theme I remember vividly from a long time ago.
Urusei Yatsura - "Every Day" - Cute song and visuals.

"Song of Four Seasons" - Unquestionably my favorite ED of all time.
"Afro Gunso" - The iconic ED of the series. My appreciation for the show may have waned over the years, but my love for this ending hasn't.
"(Yume) Mugennokanata" - Could almost work as an opening. Really strong song and visuals that really click for me and perfectly fit the series.
"Magia" - Chilling song and visuals and the song I most associate with the series. That I had to put it last in this match just goes to show how strong I think the others are.

Oh man, this is good one:
"The Ballad of Ranma and Akane" - It kills me that I can't find a subtitled version of this, because you really have to know what they are saying in order to appreciate this ending fully. The jist of it is that the entire ending is about Ranma and Akane reflecting on their relationship, and noting they are too stubborn to ever tell the other how they truly feel about each other, and in the end ultimately taking comfort in holding each other's hands for now. It's a fantastic concept accompanied by simple by strong images, and the song perfectly describes why their relationship is the way it is and why it's so hard for them to take that extra step, and instead take comfort in the small moments they have with one another. It's one of a select few opening or ending themes that actually try to dig into the characters' mind or comment on the series instead of just being cool, and I appreciate it all the more for that.
"Oto no Naru Ho e" - Absolutely PERFECT for the part of the series it's accompanying. I love the aesthetic, the images shown, the tone of the song...just excellent.
"Unbalanced Kiss" - My second favorite YYH ending theme.
"Friends" - I really like the song in this one a lot. Overall a solid ED.

"Positive" - Probably my favorite ED song in any anime, as well as my favorite of Ranma's EDs, and perhaps my second favorite ED overall. I love the pencil on paper animation motif, the song is fantastic, and it brings back fond memories of when I first got into the show and my experiences watching it and how my life was going back then. Back then watching Ranma and this ending always seemed to pick me up after a tough day and put me in a good mood to face the next.

I've let people just say what they want to push in a tiebreaker for a while now. You've been allowed to do so before as well. The only situation where this isn't satisfactory is during cases when the two things tied are ranked first and last on someone's votes and they are trying to get the one that's first to move on (which isn't possible).

Since this is the penultimate round, it's time for me to start giving explanations for my rankings:
"Song Of Four Seasons" - My favorite ED. The song is fantastic, the kind of music that sparks vivid thoughts in my head as I listen to it. The visuals are beautiful, giving a nice look into Fu's childhood memories of her family and her father which drive her motivation in the series. A well put together and mesmerizing watch that I would never skip watching the show and still stirs up powerful emotions in me whenever I listen to or watch it.
"Melancholy no Kiseki" - The picture motif is perfect, reflecting the memories theme of the fourth movie, showing precious memories the characters have of one another. The song is also spot-on with the mood of movie, about moving on from things and people from your past, which relates to the message of moving beyond childish things Yamazkai wanted to get across in the film as well as Lum and Ataru's desire for things to remain as they are, clinging to their youth, and reluctance to grow up and embrace adulthood, which is an aspect of their characters that is commented on time and again in the series and especially in the movies. There also just a lot of great pics used in this, like Tsubame running towards Sakura in the sunset, Ran and Rei having one of their picnics in that alternate dimension they always visit, and those multi-pic sequences, especially the one showing Asuka shedding off her armor while running away. Just a lot of stuff I really love in it. Probably my favorite anime movie ED.
"Neverending Homework" - This is my favorite YYH ending. Admittedly, nostalgia plays a large part in that, since Colors TV only ever played episodes with this ending on the FUNimation Channel block and I would watch YYH every night on there way back in the day. Buy beyond that I really do think the song is the best dubbed rendition FUNi did for a YYH ED, and the visuals are classic and iconic. An awesome ED that brings back a lot of memories for me and the one I most associate with YYH, and still one of my all time favorites to this day.
"Cha-La Head Cha-La" - I really like the FLOW rendition of "Cha-La," and I like the motif of flipping through the entire manga from the beginning and highlighting some of the series most memorable and iconic scenes. I do feel they could have chose better ones for the Cell and Buu sagas and find it odd they didn't show anything from the Saiyan saga, but I love the attention given to early DB so it balances out. It's a very good ED that as a DB fan I highly appreciate, but the others in this match just prove to be more engaging watches for me and are among my top favorites, so I have to put it last by default.

Definitely must agree. I was never a big fan of the original, but this version is a nice, fresh update. FLOW makes this song feel strong. It's a happy listening experience. Really.
I do personally love the original song, but FLOW does a good job of modernizing it while staying true to the fun tone of the original version, which is a really amazing feat in and of itself.
I quite like it, too. I also really like the whole manga montage. It really adds a lot to the package.

Champloo - Sweet memories of adult swim's prime at its best. I have always had a soft spot for this and the nostalgia for it is kicking my butt. I never really noted Song Of Four Seasons as a favorite, even though the OP is one of my favorites fopr some reason. Maybe as didn't play it that much and I'm really just remembering DVD episodes.
YYH - Should be nominated for Best Directed ED Ever.
Chacha - Whoa, Toriyama's art is great!!..then I remembered that I knew that from all the other things I've seen him draw.
Urusei - Arguably the 2nd best music in this match. I like it more than Cha-La's but CLCL Land's combination of DB manga love and its good song won me over.
Yeah, I love Toriyama's artwork. It's so simple yet incredibly fluid and lively.

My Picks:
"Blue" - You know, I never paid much attention to this ED before this competition, but after watching it multiple times I've grown increasingly fonder and fonder of it. The song matches the tone of the ending of the series perfectly with spot-on lyrics, describing Spike "ascending" after his death, and I gotta love how perfectly the song is timed to the movement of the pan up towards the sky, which becomes an increasingly darker shade of blue before finally lifting up into space, and then as the song draws to a close everything slows down, fades back to Spike, and closes out (I like to interpret that as the moment Spike finally passed away). It's a great combination of meaningful and moving music and visuals, and is probably the best series finale ED for any anime I've seen.
"Ride on Shooting Star" - Odd, irreverent, and unique just like the show itself. FLCL may not have had an opening thing, but it has one heck of an ED, with a song that sticks in your memory with it's catchiness, and pumps me up after watching the show rather than winding me down like most EDs try to. I've also always liked the stop-motion picture style with the scooter as it goes around down and mixing it in with random animated cuts of Haruko. It's a memorable, iconic ED that perfectly fits FLCL and is one of the things I most associate with it.
"The Real Folk Blues" - Like how "Tank!" is THE anime OP, "Real Folk Blues" is THE anime ED. Beyond the excellent and appropriate music, it tells the story of Spike's past with Vicious and Julia and how it soured as time went along. Like, "Tank" in regards to OPs, RFB about as perfect as an ED can get, and speaks to the strength of the competition in this match that I prefer the two others I've ranked above it in this match at this time.
"Hunting For Your Dream" - Great song and great visuals making for a great closer to some of the series' finest episodes. Certainly, it is HXH's best ED, though I might say the second version of "Hyori Ittai" used for the Chairman Election arc is my favorite. Regardless, it's a solid ED, and among the best to come out in recent years.

I have a soft spot for Shooting Star mainly because of my love of alternative rock music. The visuals are alright, but it's the song I like a lot.

Hunting For Your Dream - Whoa, I didn't think this would make it that far. The music gets better every time I hear it. I practically want to start singing it outloud. Also, Just Awake is the best HXH ED.
Blue - ...I have seriously forgotten how great Cowboy Bebop's ending is. I believe I always kind of tuned it out after the chaos that was the last battle. I straight up like it more than Real Folk Blues. That was some soulful singing.
Ride On Shooting Star - So much nostalgia here. as used to be great every night of the week...
The Real Folk Blues - I just really paid attention to it being about Vicious, Julia and Spike. I wonder if there would be enough material for them to have a movie about their pasts.

I had an especially tough time fitting the two Cowboy Bebop songs where I wanted them. But no matter what, "Ride on Shooting Star" needed to be rated relatively high on my list.
Did you ever notice at the end of Blue right before it cuts back to Spike to show his body, there's one star flickering near the top of the screen that vanishes as the screen turns white? I think that's supposed to be the point at which he has ascended.

A truly great final round! All of these endings are fantastic and most are among my all time personal favorites! I've spoken about why I enjoy each of these particular endings before in this thread, so you'll have to forgive me for not repeating my thoughts on these again, but I think each of these endings makes a worthy case for the title of the Greatest Anime Ending Ever. Neverending Homework- Nostalgia may play a factor, but I truly love this ending song. The dubbing is excellent, here, and there's a real passion to the vocals and music and how they match up with the visuals. It gives me a response of putting a smile to my face. It beautifully captures the themes of love, compassion, and the desire to do everything that you can for the people most important to you.
Cha-La Head Cha-La- As I've stated before, I have a strong emotional connection to this song and the visuals from the manga. Dragon Ball is often a series that gets criticized for being low on story and high on bad filler and power-ups. It really saddens me because most people who say this have never touched the original source material. Toriyama's manga has such an energetic flow and uplifting tone to it that, regardless of whether you enjoy it or not, the anime never truly managed to capture. This amazing theme song is one of the few things that really does match up with the manga, and highlighting so many iconic and memorable moments almost brings a tear to my eye. Goku scaling Korin's Tower, overcoming King Piccolo, becoming a Super Saiyajin for the first time....these are some of the greatest moments in all of comic books, IMO, and this ending theme both complements and highlights it perfectly.
Blue- First, I just want to say that this series finale is the greatest Ashita no Joe reference ever, on top of being its own iconic moment in all of animation. It's an excellent, emotional, captivating song. It's not something that I necessarily feel compelled to listen to over and over again like some other songs, but it stays with me long after I do listen to it, which shows just how powerful music can truly be.
Ride on Shooting Star- As I mentioned earlier, this one isn't a personal favorite. I do enjoy it, but don't get an emotional reaction out of it like I do for the others. That said, it's a lot of fun, and I both respect and totally understand the appeal in it, hence why I helped to vote it through to this final round via the tiebreaker. It most definitely deserves to be here.

Well, that was lame so I'll try to elaborate.
1. "Blue"
My all-time favorite ED. While the ending of Cowboy Bebop was already epic, this ED effectively gives it an emotional depth that is as subtle as the rest of the anime (this show has flash AND substance) that always hits hard no matter how many times I see it. If there is any anime ED I want to see winning this competition, it's this one.
2. "Ride on Shooting Star"
Of all the "fun" anime EDs, this would be my #1. The song is so catchy that it remains lodged in my head well after a decade of first hearing it and the animation spliced with live action footage is clever enough. It's really silly, but I can't say it isn't really good.
3. "Neverending Homework"
Not my favorite YYH ending, but that song is classic. I like the split between the fighting aspects of the show and the more emotional side of the Spirit Detective arc which matches the show masterfully. That said, there are parts of it that don't do much for me, but it is undeniably great.
4. "Cha-La Head Cha-La"
Great music, great concept for an ending. That said, as clever as it is, the other EDs are just plain better. Better songs by far (I like Head Cha-La, but it's the weakest song here) and more inventive animation. Still, it's an excellent tribute to Dragon Ball and I'm glad it made it so far.
I disagree about the other songs just being "plain better." I could argue that I find it to be a "better song by far" than ROSS, personally. Of course music is all subjective and such, but you say it as if it's definitive more than an opinion.

Fun fact: Ashita no Joe is one of Takahashi's all time favorite manga. She apparently did a six-page interview back in 2011 where she talked about how much she loved the series. (http://www.furinkan.com/takahashi/index.html) I approached the Rumic World webmaster a while back to see if they could get it translated, but alas, they are too busy at the moment. Yu yu Hakusho Homework Never Ends - Dammit, I actually wish this went on longer. 10 more seconds of the part of the song at the end and I might have put this back at number 1. :D I think I have the full song kind of fresh in my head so that's why I'm fully a bit cheated.
Cha La Head Cha La - I actually did enjoy this song that much more this time around. And the manga montage that much more. The kamehameha at the end almost brings a tear in my eye and I love the 01 cover art. Great from book end to book end.

I actually really like the video for Ride on Shooting Star. It must have taken a lot of effort to make.
Drawing 500+ chapters of manga over 11 years and meeting grueling deadlines on a weekly basis to keep millions of people entertained probably took a lot of effort as well. :humhumhum:

For me a good OP or ED is equal parts song and visuals. If I was evaluating these with preference to the song, then I would have nominated EDs like "Ai wa Boomerang" from Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer, among others, for this competition, instead of saving those for the OST competition.

This is true, of course, which is why I think Cowboy Bebop and Baccano have the best OPs of all time. But I don't think it's wrong to nominate or think highly of one where you only like the music/visuals.

"Blue" - A beautiful and emotional listen. I actually heard this song several years before even seeing Cowboy Bebop. And when coupled with the video.. damn.
"Ride on Shooting Star" - Has to be one of the most fun sounding of ending songs. It's infectious.. makes me want to whistle it and dance about in my chair (A weird sight to behold, trust me!) :lol:
"Cha-La Head Cha-La" - What does the scouter say about this new FLOW version? It's over 9000! (Sorry!)
"Neverending Homework" - I like this song and feel bad to have given it a lower rating. I just couldn't get it to stack up better with the competition.
