I'm on board, as Swat Kats still holds up even by today's standards. A newer reboot with the creators has a ton of potential. But how is this possible? Can they really do a funding campaign when the show is owned by Warner Bros./Time Warner?

Some weird partnership like GameFreak has with Nintendo?

It's probably to gauge interest in a revival. If it gets a certain number funded, WB will probably greenlight it. This kickstarter is a way to see if there's an audience for it and to persuade WB to go forward with it. Think Yooka Laylee and Bloodstained: Their producers needed to see the demand before they fully committed to it.

In other words, fans should jump on this as it might be their only chance for a revival.

It's already almost funded. In one day. I'd love to see what the last 48 hour rush will look like, but at this rate it looks like it's a safe bet that this will get funding.

Awesome! Too bad a five part miniseries is all they'll be able to do, but it's understandable. Hopefully, they'll do well enough for Cartoon Network or whomever to greenlight this.

That is awesome!! This makes me want to get around to watching all the episodes of the original show. 1 of the 4 90s action cartoons I want to complete. 5, if Darkwing counts.

According to the stretch goal image, that's not the case anymore.

QuoteWe own the TV rights to produce new episodes of Swat Kats, along with all theatrical film rights. We can do whatever we desire to do, and with your support, we can go a long way and produce exciting new entertainment.

How did the Tremblay brothers get the rights back from WB? I noticed that they gave the rights to the Xiaolin Showdown IP back to Christy Hui too...

How Xiaolin Showdown got another series before....anything is a greater mystery to me.

Cartoon Network has passed on it. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1820796125/swat-kats-revolution/posts/1561973) I had a feeling this would happen.

Its been a long while and it was canceled before CN existed, so I'm not surprised. The newer people at CN aren't just going to bring something like Swat Kats back because of nostalgia like Nick. They have Samurai Jack and other stuff on Adult Swim/Toonami.

Here's hoping they can get Netflix to agree to a deal.

No, it started and aired in syndication then aired on Cartoon Network. I may have misspoke about CN not existing, but it was never an official CN original and was already almost over by the time CN got off the ground from Turner.

The Kickstarter just backed a fan-made petition (https://www.change.org/p/netflix-pick-up-swat-kats-revolution) to get the show picked up for Netflix.

Classic Swat Kats is now up on VRV.

I wonder if this is where Revolution will premiere.

Maybe?

We should at least make a list of what Warner-owned shows are currently streaming on VRV.

The Kickstarter has finally updated after two years of radio silence.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1820796125/swat-kats-revolution/posts/2901724

They've created a five-part mini-series and a potential movie treatment. It might go to HBO Max or Cartoon Network (they seem interested again after passing on it last time).

QuoteHello Everyone,

Just a quick note to let you all know that our distributor has started to make the official presentation of the new Swat Kats Revolution TV series to TV broadcasts, and the reactions so far is FANTASTIC!!!!

This is very exciting to say the least. It looks like we will already get some territory sold!!!

I will keep you update and details as it comes.

In the meantime, we have created an Instagram account where I post updates & stuff and also some videos of Archive Reveals, showing original production drawings of the original series, circa 1993-1994. Please check it out @ SWATKATS REVOLUTION OFFICIAL.

See you all there!

Kindest regards,
