You want to know how ingrained in some of us this show is?
The other night while playing L4D2 with some friends, all of a sudden we started quoting HISMSV out of nowhere. I haven't seen that in freaking years. Suffice to say, this is quite the important show to some of us, whether we realize it or not.
I love this show! Even have a T-shirt of it, which, with the exception of Tom and Jerry, hasn't happened for any other TV show, even The Simpsons.
"So Plucky, how does it feel to be DWI?"
"DWI, what's that?'
"You know, driving while intoxicated!"
"Ah, that's ridiculous! I don't know how to drive."
I love the thing they did that was like a play on Disney's Peter and the Wolf from Make Mine Music. I used to worship this show but I really don't remember it very well. There used to be quite a bit of it on YouTube but the episode (naturally) I was dying to find and never did was the one where Plucky stayed over with Buster and they watched horror movies and Plucky had a bunch of nightmares. Damn that was a good one. Oh- and the one where Montana Max has a nightmare about bunnies (I think this was a Christmas themed episode or something like a Scrooge type thing).

Buster and the Wolverine. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn2BMTBjBGI) Really good cartoon. And in better quality on YT than the copy I currently have with me. Hmm.

The Acme Acres Zone, a parody of The Twilight Zone. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOk7dMQEfVU) The sound is a bit wonky on this one.
Woah. Speaking of Tiny Toons, I was poking around YouTube just a little bit ago, and I found two (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q58oar1dWvU) bumpers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB0Gb7Ik4_c&NR=1) from Cartoon Network's Powerhouse era featuring the characters, which must've been used during TTA's short run on CN(although Wikipedia says it ran on CN from 1999-2005, which I don't believe is the case). I had never seen these before, since I'm almost certain I never saw TTA air on CN myself(saw it air on Fox Kids, Kids WB, and Nick instead).
EDIT: Also, while trying to find info about TTA on CN, I found this (http://cartoonnetwork.wikia.com/wiki/Tiny_Toon_Adventures_The_Next_Generation). Thank goodness dth got banned from TZ, because if he ever saw this we'd have a shitstorm over this obviously false article.
99-05? Hahaha, no. More like 99-00, maybe early 01 at the latest.
I saw a bit of TTA on CN, and remember seeing Powerhouse bumpers, but not these. I remember one with Babs and Plucky daydreaming in class though. Don't know if that's on YouTube or not.
I can't find any definitive information on it either. I'm kind of thinking about asking about it on TZ and see if Speedy Boris or someone knows, but since no one really ever mentions TTA airing on CN, I'm not sure how much they would know. What time of day did they air on CN, like in the early morning? Because that could be a factor as to why I don't remember it whereas I remember A!, P&tB, and Freakazoid! airing in the afternoons/evenings.
I think it aired next to Animaniacs or Freakazoid! when it was on, so yeah, late morning/early afternoon-ish, I believe.
I don't think Speedy would really know, since he didn't really watch CN, even then. Darth, maybe?
Also, I think TTA and A! were airing on NickToons by 2005 and A! and F! were off by 2001-2002, so that definitely wasn't the case.

Yeah, pretty sure once A! and P&tB moved over to Nick, and later Toon Disney in P&tB's case, CN gradually phased them out. There was a period of time were you could watch the Animaniacs theme untampered with on CN, then switch over to Nick and see the theme with references to Nick(it was worse on Pinky and the Brain, with the Nick logo emblazoned on everything). At least with TTA all Nick did was cut off the WB shield at the very beginning.
I'm pretty sure Freakazoid! disappeared from CN around 2002-2003(and even then it wasn't on much), and without support from Nick, it was largely forgotten until the DVDs came out. Both Tiny Toons and Animaniacs stopped airing on Nickelodeon/Nicktoons around 2005-2006, and Pinky and the Brain was aired as recently as 2009 on Disney XD, but it's now off their schedule as well. Pinky and the Brain was also apparently the only one of these shows to ever get a spot on Boomerang, where it aired for a bit around 2003.
It's funny too, the one Ruegger show I have the most memories of watching on CN was A Pup Named Scooby Doo. They used to run the shit out of that one, up until a year or so ago.
Oh god, the A! and P&TB Nick intros were travesties. The actual show runs were fine (don't remember any editing), but that was such a pain to deal with.
Of the Ruegger/Spielberg shows, the one that had the worst syndication life was easily Hysteria. For a good reason, too- it didn't have one! Besides having a bunch of episodes available on that In2TV site AOL did a few years ago, after it was taken off of Kids WB!, that show had no rebroadcasting.
Yeah, I think CN does still put on Pup on odd occasions. I don't think it's on now, but I wouldn't be surprised i they put it back in the morning slot at least once this year.
Edit: I was going to look up a site with schedules from most of the classic years of CN to find where all of these shows ran, but it's undergoing maintenance now. These weren't completely accurate anyway, but they usually were pretty close. I'll check it out when it's done, I guess, but I don't know.
Bump for the sake of bumping.
Water go down the hole?
I think now is probably the perfect time to rewatch How I Spent My Summer Vacation.... Especially with the way the weather is here now. Sheesh.
Guess what I found at a local thrift store today?
I can't believe I never owned HISMV before. I've rented the tape so many times way back when, but we never went out and buy it, for reasons I'll never understand. But now I own it, and all is well.
I've seen it a few times at thrift shops as well, even once saw the laserdisc version, but I've never bought it. I've got a copy of the movie on one of my hard drives somewhere, and I think even on one of my iPods(not sure).
Would certainly love an official DVD release of it though.
Same. Even if they don't release the rest of the show and put it in the Archives, just getting the movie would be great.
Watched it just now. As funny as ever.
I want an official DVD of this so much.
Yeah, no doubt. We're so overdue. Best thing the TTA cast has ever done, yet I'm still stuck holding onto my VHS copy from 15 years ago. :wth:
It does still work though, by the way. Given the amount of times I've watched that tape, I've been expecting it to crap out on me, but so far, I've been fortunate in that it's held up all this time later.
I'd buy a copy of the VHS, except I don't own a VCR(haven't owned one in like five years). I don't have the room for a VCR right now, due to my living arrangements(like I've said before, I don't even have my own TV right now, and my Wii is shoved in a locker on the ship, and a giant Fed-Ex box is in the trunk of my car containing my NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, GCN, and all the games/cords/accessories that go along with them). Hopefully soon I'll get somewhere else to stay that isn't a hunk of metal floating on water, since there are barracks rooms and the like that I can get into( I hear some of them are really nice), I just have to figure out how to do that first.
Well, speak of the devil. (http://tvshowsondvd.com/n/16960)
Finally. FINALLY. You can't even begin to imagine how excited I am for this.
And it's an actual release too, not that DVD-R crap.
I totally will get this, even if I have the VHS.
Oh, definitely. I recommend that everyone get this, even if they still have the VHS (I do as well, but I digress).
If this sells, it would go a long way into getting the rest of the actual series on DVD, and maybe even those other two obscure specials as well. I'm actually convinced that this is WHV's way of testing the market to see how well Tiny Toons would sell this time around.
Quote from: Brak's Dad on May 17, 2012, 06:39:58 PM

Cool, that means I can find it in stores like Best Buy & Target! So buying this.
Comeau, are you okay?
I will get this day one, and hope the remainder of the series comes out after it.
Wow, that's pretty awesome. Would like some bonus features, but Tom Ruegger is saying on Facebook that no one from WB has contacted him.
And yeah, I'm alright, just been doing sea trials these last couple of weeks.
Hey, I call dibs on the review though. I've been meaning to do a write up of the movie for quite some time, but I keep pushing it off because I'm a lazy slacker piece of shit.
So did this get pushed back a week? Kid's link says it comes out today, but everywhere else says next Tuesday.
Yeah, it did.
Damn. I was getting ready to hit up the FYE tonight, but I decided to check their website. Good thing I did.
Yeah, they randomly just pushed it back a week with little warning and no explanation.
At least it's just a week though. It could be worse.
Guess I'll have something to watch while I plow through the new Mario game.
Yep yep, that was my plan as well.
Oh, and to write up an article.
It's been years since I've seen this special. I never owned it, I just remember renting it a lot and seeing it on Nickelodeon. I may just have to get this!
Has anyone gotten it yet? I'm interested to hear of the transfer's quality.
Yeah, I got it at Wal Mart earlier. I haven't had a chance to put it in yet though.
I'll probably pick it up when I'm in town tomorrow. Hopefully at least one of the Walmarts around here is carrying it, though; Best Buy is just too overpriced on DVDs anymore, and chances are they won't even have it anyway (I was astonished by the lack of selection the last time I went in one; they've really scaled back).
I finally got my copy and am sitting down to watch it.
There aren't any extras including any scene selection, but the transfer looks about as good as any SD show can look.
I went to Goodwill today, and saw a giant Dizzy plush for a buck. I nearly got it, since it's not often you see a TTA plush like that, let alone one for a character like Dizzy, but decided against it because that's a dollar that could easily go to HISMV.
That's how behind I am, and how I think.
Well this is good news, I guess. (http://tvshowsondvd.com/n/17543)
You'd think that they would put all of the remaining episodes on this set, but it seems like they want to save money. Which isn't such a bad idea, but seems like a waste. And yeah, the lack of "Elephant Issues" stings.
That's good news, although for reasons I'll explain at a later date I won't be able to pick this up for quite some time.
No Elephant Issues though huh.
"One Beer" is really a weak segment, though. I've seen it enough times on Youtube, and it's not very funny at all (at least, in my opinion).
A shame, but as long as we're getting everything else, I can do without it. Long time coming, this is.
Have you seen the other two segments? Because "One Beer" is the highlight compared to those two. The interstitials with Gogo are probably the best part of the episode.
It's been so long I don't really remember. Doesn't sound like we're missing much, though.
As long as this means they can get the rest out. I still haven't gotten around to season 1 since it's so costly around here.
Looks like "Elephant Issues" is making it in after all. (http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Tiny-Toon-Adventures-missing-episode-included/17575)
Yay for completion.
Looking at the cover, as well as the one for the recent release of HISMV, it's funny just how kiddie they make it look. Yeah, the show is a kids show, but it has several aspects that also make it more mature. The cover makes it look like its as juvenile as Baby Looney Tunes.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm afraid that it'll scare away some fans of the show from buying it, due to how kiddy it looks, which will kill the potential of the rest coming out even more.

Still not a great episode, but hey, better than nothing.
On another note, why is How I Spent My Vacation already so hard to find? I've been to at least four different Walmarts out here, and not a single one of them had it in stock.
Guess I'll have to settle for Amazon.

I never got it here, I had to order it online.
I think I saw it at Best Buy, but for $15. Which is a little too steep for a movie with no bonus features that I already own on VHS.
According to NickandMore!, the Tiny Toons Halloween Special Night Ghoulery will air on The CW's Saturday morning block on October 27th, the first time in at least 15 years the special has aired on American TV(I think the special aired during Nick's run of the show in the mid to late 90s).
Is it just me, or is it a bit strange how all of the sudden there's a lot of interest in the show recently? What's WB up to I wonder.

I'm totally up for it though.

They're also airing an episode of JLU right after, in case anyone wants to stick around.
We may never get this one on DVD, soooooooooo... yeah, I am so there.
That was a fun special.
Although since this was my first time seeing it, was I the only expecting to see Gizmo in the "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" parody instead of the gremlin from "Falling Hare"?
Volume 3 should be hitting store shelves today.
I should pick this up on my way home tonight. Hopefully the Walmart up here actually has it, though; they never did end up carrying How I Spent My Vacation.
If it's today, we should also have the Animaniacs and Duck Dodgers sets out.
Tal about a great day for fans of Warner Bros. animation.

Coming to the Hub on July 1. (http://www.toonzone.net/forums/huburbia-%96-hub-animation-forum/304646-tiny-toon-adventures-coming-hub-network-starting-july-1st.html)
I can't say that I'm overly excited about The Hub acquiring another canceled show from the 90s, but at least Tiny Toon Adventures is one of the good ones. Perhaps the chances of The Hub getting Freakazoid! aren't as remote as I thought.
That's cool. I'll probably never see it on the channel, but it's still good that the show is getting exposure.
It'll be great to see it on television again, although I do think the Hub is going too overboard on acquiring old cartoons for their lineup.
One interesting thing that I've noticed regarding Tiny Toon Adventures. TTA debuted and was established before Animaniacs, and yet in syndicated reruns (first on Kids' WB and more recently on The Hub), TTA always gets picked only after A! has put butts into seats. TTA typically gets picked up later, like it's A!'s kid brother, despite the fact that TTA originally aired first.
I don't have a statement or anything for that; it just struck me as being kind of funny.
I guess it's just one of those instances where the follow-up is more popular than the original.
It certainly isn't the case here. Animaniacs is far behind TTA and even P&TB in overall popularity.
I've always liked the Slappy Squirrel segments of Animaniacs more than Pinky and the Brain, even though I enjoyed P&tB on A!
Tiny Toon Adventures was good, but that shows' constant mentioning that it was the 90s and the references to 1990s pop-culture make the show look somewhat dated now, which is why A! gets the nod for me, because while A! did have a few topical references, the show didn't pander nearly as much to it's contemporary audience as TTA did. But that's just my opinion, which doesn't carry the weight of oxygen.
The Hub is airing How I Spent My Summer Vacation this Monday at 8PM EST.

Tiny Toons: How I Spent My Summer Vacation is 80 minutes without commercials. I hope that The Hub will air the video in it's entirety and not try to cut it down to only 60 minutes like FOX did the 1 and only time the network aired it in prime-time. The editing in that was so bad it was like the video was spliced together with duck tape and chewing gum. At least in syndication Warner Bros. aired the video across 4 days in 20 minute installments (with commercial breaks, of course) for the benefit of kids whose families didn't own a VHS.
I still need to get the DVD of that.
What a great movie.

You mean Elephant Issues, which was only banned due to portraying Buster, Plucky and Hamton getting drunk on one beer?
Yep, that's the one!
I guess it's not so banned anymore. Looking back though, I'm kind of amazed Nick refused to air it, considering what an episode of Rocko would get away with only a few hours later.
RIP Joe Alaskey. (http://www.newsfromme.com/2016/02/03/joe-alaskey-r-p/)
Man, what a great talent. It's a shame to know that he's gone.
:shit:
That really sucks. He did a great job voicing the Looney Tunes. Who will voice them now?
Was he sick? Was succession in the cards at all?
He had cancer, and I suspect Warner Bros knew beforehand given Daffy's absence in Wabbit.
Jesus. RIP. :'(

Here I thought they would have just left Daffy being voiced by Jeff Bergman like he was in the Looney Tunes Show. Well, that and how the show kinda became the Daffy Duck show later, so I thought they were just toning down on Daffy because of that.
Damn shame to see Joe Alaskey go. RIP
I think Joe and Warner's knowledge of his cancer may have gone back further than Wabbit, and would explain why he skipped TLTS.
Jeff Bergman might stick to the voices, and that's fine. He's a good voice for them, and Daffy has been around before Joe, and should be around after him.
But now I wouldn't like a Tiny Toons revival, since hearing someone else voice Plucky would be weird.

It makes sense, and I hope it turns out alright.
It is a little sad to not see it join Animaniacs on Hulu, though.
I can understand Cree being sad, but I didn't expect to see Tiny Toon fans legitimately disappointed at no Elmyra.
I didn't think she was that bad of a character on the show. She became a lot less bearable when Spielberg kept shoving her elsewhere, though.
It was shoving her into Pinky and The Brain for no actual reason than Jaime Kellner liking her so much that soured some people on her. She was ok in TTs proper (I actually liked the two episodes that were backdoor pilots to her propsed spin-off), but I imagine they don't want to tick off PETA and like minded animal lovers.
Quote from: Peanutbutter on October 31, 2020, 12:27:39 PM
It was shoving her into Pinky and The Brain for no actual reason than Jaime Kellner liking her so much that soured some people on her.
From what I've been told, that's a common misconception. When Rob Paulsen had Peter Hastings on his podcast Talkin' Toons, Hastings revealed that the network was pretty hands off with the series despite what the theme song would have you believe & that the idea of putting Elmyra with Pinky and the Brain was more Steven Speilberg's idea.
Yeah, I've read before that Elmyra was Spielberg's favorite character, and he was the one who pushed for her to keep showing up. But it does seem that the poor reception to PE&TB that killed his enthusiasm and interest in producing cartoons for Warner.
Yeah, it was the combination of things like PE&TB and the fact that things like Pokémon were starting to take off on the network that killed the Spielberg/Warner Bros shows. The fact that there was an increase of action shows later in Kids WB's lifespan does support this.
The first season of Looniversity debuted on Max yesterday. I just watched the first 3 episodes today, and I think it's great so far! It's not like Animaniacs 2020 where it's just more of the same; TTL stands out as a completely different beast from its predecessor. Everyone's character and personality has been completely revamped, which leads to some interesting dynamics among the students and mentors. I like Buster and Plucky's rivalry and how it contrasts with Babs and Sweetie clicking right away, and I like how Hamton is the mediator for all of the students' problems. (Also, Furrball has a voice now.)
The biggest difference between this show and TTA is the change in scope. It's in the title: the main focus of the show is the Looniversity itself. It's not an anthology spread across Acme Acres like the old series. This new series also consists of one half-hour story per episode, not the three-short format with wraparounds like before. They also seem to avoid making real-world references. Remember when TTA made references to things like George Bush Sr., The Cosby Show, and MTV? That's gone here, likely to avoid quickly dating itself.
Rather than trying to replicate what worked in the 90s like Animaniacs did, this show threw out the rulebook for the old series altogether, and I'm glad they're taking these characters in a new direction.
Watched the first 4 episodes yesterday. To its credit, going for a different route than 90s TTA is much preferable to how Animaniacs tried to be just like the old show but with only a third of the cast. And most of the new voice actors sound great, though Shirley sounds off.
But yeah, turning Buster and Babs into siblings was always going to be uncomfortable, especially with how this version really, really wants to remind you that the 90s were a thing, while paradoxically hoping anybody from the 90s watching doesn't remember the characters were a couple. That in itself is the show's most contradictory element, it's for kids but most of the cultural trappings feel like the writers were hoping to primarily appeal to a generation who grew up with National Lampoon movies.
Another change I found interesting was thanks to Acme Looniversity now being a post-HS college with dormitories, it means all the TT characters are technically adults here.
