Title: Parks and Recreation
Post by: Eddy on September 01, 2012, 03:19:53 PM
Thought I'd make a thread for this wonderful little show. It sort of started off as something that seemed to be trying to ride off the success of The Office but it's evolved since that into something better (especially better than The Office has been now).

I don't really watch TV anymore so I've been keeping up with the show through Netflix. Started watching the fourth season, as it's just been added.

Season 4 was so good. Great development all across the board, and the campaign arc is brilliant.

It's funny, as I rewatch some Community, I get tired of its snuggness and hyper unrealistic characteristics, while P&R holds up for me by doing the exact opposite- it's biting when it has to, but the show is honest in its portrayal, and has such a strong cast. It really deserves to be more popular than it is.

This is why Amy Poehler didn't win. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OIqkmMC1sw)

Another year, another snub. Jesus... if the Emmys are any indication, Modern Family is basically the single greatest, uncontested sitcom of all time. I mean, come on; it's a good show, I like it a lot, but really... give me a break already. Can't we let someone else have a turn in the spotlight for a change? Again they ran away with the comedy nominations; Louis CK and Jon Cryer (?!) were the only outsiders. And to top it off, they gave one of them to Eric Stonestreet, who, IMO, is not even the best actor on the show (Burrell and O'Neill FTW).

I've said it a million times already, and I'll say it again; Parks and Rec is the absolute most criminally underrated series on TV. Without a doubt.

I mean, I like Modern Family. But it has not the best comedy on TV for the past 3 years. IMO, it's not even in the top 5 (HIMYM, Parks, Louie, Sunny and Community would take that).

But whatever, at least Melissa McCarthy or Jim Parsons didn't win this year for making nothing but fat jokes and giving nerds and/or autistic people everywhere a bad name, respectively.

Did Archer get nominated for anything?

Animated shows are a part of the Creative Emmys, which were presented 2 weeks ago for some reason. I don't think it did this year.

"Leslie, I typed your symptoms into the computer. It says you have network connectivity problems."

Why aren't you watching this show?

Because the debate was on yesterday.

This coming season will be its last. (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/parks-recreation-end-season-7-700847)

I saw it coming, and the show has peaked, so I can't say that I'm too shocked or saddened. But damn, there really is little use for the broadcast networks nowadays, isn't there?

The show's been losing steam these past two or so seasons, so I'd say it's about time for it to end. Though with it gone the only show on a broadcast network that I'll be watching will be Bob's Burgers.

Yeah, just Bob's Burgers and Hannibal for me, but I'll give Agent Carter a chance.

With Parks coming to a definite end, Community being done for sure, and HIMYD looking like more of a disaster each day, there really is little out there for the 4 (or 5 I guess) "main" networks.

I need to start watching Hannibal. Especially since there are only two seasons so it shouldn't take too long to catch up.

That was very sweet. Not as funny as I was hoping for, but a fitting end.

DEFINITELY better than HIMYM's.
