Didn't Disney used to have a mascot at some point who disappeared for a while?
New Mickey Mouse shorts begin June 28. (http://www.toonzone.net/2013/03/mickey-mouse-star-all-new-cartoon-shorts-with-classic-comedy-contemporary-flair)
Oh, and it's not CGI.
EDIT: Watch one of the shorts now! (http://video.disney.com/watch/croissant-de-triomphe-4d7b3aae690a98650d776d97)
I'm afraid I have very little experience with Disney shorts, especially since I love Disney so much. So I'm looking forward to this.
So, Disney still gives a crap about Mickey Mouse.
How 'bout that?
This isn't a part of these shorts, but actually even more interesting.

Douglas A. Sirois just posted these. Apparently it's been a dream project for certain people at the studio, him included, to remake the Martin & Lewis movie with Mickey and Roger. And here are samples of promotional concepts for it.
Who knows, maybe Disney will go back to hand-drawn if this is greenlit.
I've never liked the 'old school' white faced version of Mickey Mouse; that version always looked like a nasty rat or a creepy mime to me, but still, it's good to see Disney use Mickey and the Gang for something other than edutainment for preschoolers.
A Martin & Lewis type road picture with Mickey and Roger Rabbit? That could be interesting, if it ever happens.
They're making a black-and-white one! (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/moviesnow/la-et-mn-disney-animation-releases-new-mickey-mouse-short-20130422,0,6394201.story)

It seems they just did. (http://www.movieweb.com/news/the-stooge-concept-art-teases-3-roger-rabbit-shorts-with-mickey-mouse-and-donald-duck) (There's also more art in that link.)
It's weird that not only is Gary K. Wolf involved in these projects, he's eager about them and spearheading them. I thought he didn't think too highly of the movie adaption of his novel upon it's release? I wonder what changed his mind.

Check out Disney Channel's promo. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDD1f-w9__4)
I'm excited for this; June 28th can't come fast enough. Hopefully my expectations would be met and I won't be disappointed.
The shorts begin airing this Friday, and Disney has released another short (http://video.disney.com/watch/disneychannel-no-service-4df889ed3d82b43c9c01a272) on their website.
Anyone watching these, maybe have some opinions on them? I would love to see them, but it's yet another thing I have to wait until I get back to see.
Delightfully retro.
Retro in look and feel, but funny.
I never found the old (pre-Fantasia) Mickey shorts to be all that entertaining, but these I like. Again, I wish they hadn't went with the white faced Mickey with the Pac-Man eyes look, but it is what it is.
video.disney.com keeps redirecting me. And online is my only source to see these.
This has been the only one I've been able to see so far - Croissant de Triomphe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FK1hpRGu64)
You can watch them all on Disney's official YouTube channel. (http://www.youtube.com/user/DisneyShorts/videos)

If only. Seems Disney is being racist with Canada. Those toons are blocked over here. Crazy, I tells ya. :??:
I think just about everyone is blocked outside of U.S.
But, from the short I was able to see (Croissant de Triomphe), WB could learn a thing or two from this with how to better handle Looney Tunes these days. Nothing quite like that 'old school' look and feel.
Yeah, I think they're pretty good. Surprisingly good, actually.
The ratings were pretty good for the first short, which aired the same night as the most recent Gravity Falls.
BTW, GF did better than the new P&F did that night. I think that's a good sign.
The last few P&F's weren't very good, that's not all too surprising. I'm not surprised it's ending.
Tbh, I don't think the show ever came close to being the SpongeBob killer, or even its equal, that Disney wanted.
Flash animated, and with a retro Golden Age style, to boot. Decent stuff.
These Mickey Mouse shorts are nothing less than awesome. Not only do they perfectly capture the old-school, theatrical cartoon feel with some gorgeous new stylistic artwork, but the gags are pretty brilliant and fast-paced too.
If only Warner Bros. could work this magic with the Looney Tunes. That'd be golden.

That would be nice. Unfortunately, WBA seems to have lost its brain somewhere, so it won't be happening for a long time.
They would also have to get some fresh talent working for them since most of the former CN alumni have set up camp at Disney.
I'm not ready to write off Looney Tunes as a lost cause. The Looney Tunes Show is almost over; there are only about 4 new episodes left, and TLTS's ratings have been good, so there's no doubt in my mind that there will be a new LT series or project somewhere down the line. I'm hoping that whatever new LT TV venture WB comes up with is closer to the original shorts than TLTS was.
For some reason, there won't be a new Mickey Mouse short this week. There will be next week, though.
Mickey Mouse shorts seem to be on break for a while. I don't see new episodes airing either this or next week. :whuh:
However, a new short is available on Disney's Australian website (http://disney.com.au/mickey) titled "Ghoul Friend." (Disney is likely saving it for October.)

We got footage! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw965Xye8Rk)
Wow, that looks like it could have been made in the late 20's! Looks to be a tribute done right, can't wait to see the full thing. :)
I saw a clip of "Get a Horse!" elsewhere, and
Spoiler
after Mickey and Pete get into a scuffle, the characters literally burst out of the screen as 3-dimensional CGI characters, then start going in and out of the screen constantly switching back and forth between hand drawn and CG!
Looks cool.
This is already getting Oscar buzz. Considering how the Academy has been shunning shorts for pre-existing characters in recent years, that's kind of a big deal.
This could be one of the most cleverly done animation shorts in recent years. Good work, Disney!
I do plan to see Frozen when it comes out, so this opener will definitely be something else to look forward to. :e_pleased:
I like how Mickey doesn't wear gloves, like he didn't prior to 1929. It's a nice little detail.
RIP Russi Taylor (https://www.thewaltdisneycompany.com/disney-legend-russi-taylor-dies-at-75/)
And only a few days after we got this Minnie Mouse song. (https://soundcloud.com/christopher-t-willis/carried-away)
Apparently we have a few more shorts of her work as Minnie left, right up until a special. The Simpsons is also going to retire Martin, and her other roles.
It's crazy to think that she's been the voice of Minnie my entire life, and until recently, the only voice of the nephews I truly recognize. She's easily one of the most recognizable voices of my childhood. RIP
RIP to a legend. It will be interesting to see who they get to play Minnie now.
The shorts have been retitled The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. (https://www.slashfilm.com/the-wonderful-world-of-mickey-mouse)
New episodes are coming to Disney+ on November 18.
