I've been looking forward to this for nearly a year now. Rooster Teeth (the Red vs. Blue guys) teased this after the credits of their Season 10 finale, releasing four trailers every couple of months. The final trailer was released today.
Red (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYW2GmHB5xs)
White (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt9vl8iAN5Q)
Black (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImKCt7BD4U4)
Yellow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCw_aAS7vWI)
The series will premiere at Rooster Teeth Expo next month, then released on the Internet sometime thereafter.
This looks pretty cool, though I can't say I like the characters' faces much. But Red vs. Blue is hilarious, so I'll probably watch this too.
The voices okay-ish to godawful, but everything else looks good. It looks a lot more campy and less serious than what the first two trailers suggested.
It looks...okay. It kind of looks generic, but I'll just have to see how it turns out.
And I already hate Yellow.
I've been watching these since first learning about Red last year. All four of these teasers have been kickass. That said, I agree with ShadowGentleman about the generic feel to them. Hopefully we'll see something with some depth in the final product.

She's okay in my book. Quite the lil firecracker.
Let me rephrase that. I find her kind of annoying, but I'll wait and see how this works out.
But I always hate the ball grabbing thing.
^lmao! As do I.
If anything, I was a bit disturbed by how long she... *ahem!*.. had him in the palm of her hand.
Episode 1 has premiered. (http://blip.tv/roosterteeth/rwby-episode-1-ruby-rose-6618064)
Episode 2 is up. (http://blip.tv/roosterteeth/episode-2-6621015)
Watched the first episode... well, at least it's ambitious.
How the hell did this shit get 500,000 views? Its just a bunch of shameless modern anime cliches recycled again.

Yeah. Their other work is far superior. Kudos to them for trying something new, but I think I'll stick with the funny Halo videos.
I'll give them some props for being ambitious, but as it stands so far, they flat-out suck at writing serious stories and characters. The voice-acting in this series also isn't up to the task of conveying any of these characters seriously. They should probably just stick to comedy, which is clearly where their strengths lie.
Apparently Episode 3 (which is out now) is more comedy-focused, so maybe the writing and voice acting would be better there.
I don't know how much of an influence the Rooster Teeth guys have, but this is primarily Monty Oum's show. He's the guy they got to make the fight scenes for Red vs. Blue's other seasons. He's obviously a very big anime fan but nothing that happens actually matters outside of the first episode. I'm going to stick with it because its just boring not terrible but I do hope when the actual plot kicks in it'll get good.
Right now its a little sad that this isn't going so well. RvB's seasons 6-10 were all great with balancing drama and comedy. But this show is doomed if it's going to be nothing but Ruby's school life.

I'm sticking with it for that reason. I have to believe the generic fluff seen so far is merely a prelude to something (hopefully) better. So far, if anything, I guess it's getting the job done with providing some character development.
This is probably the best thing to come out of this mediocre series so far. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RhX4L8d3J8)
This is literally the most boring, pointless thing ever. Uncanny valley does not begin to describe the low quality of the animation (seriously the girls all look like they're either under water or are marionettes), the characters are flat and unrelatable, there is no writing except for a stream of anime cliches, and every episode seems to be over before it begins. I'm sure the fanbase has a reason to love it, but for me right now its just another means for Marquis to to torture me with.
I'm just waiting for it to get gay.
So it sounds like I was right. :thinkin:
Yeah.... so..... I'm still waiting for this to get better. :il_rope:
uhm... :whuh:

If so, it might be the only salvation this series will ever have at this rate.
I am so utterly confused by this series' existence. It's the farthest thing possible from Red vs. Blue in just about every way, including quality. Dunno what Rooster Teeth was thinking.

Well that, and the inevitable fighting game adaptation that will be better than the series it's based on.

As far as I can tell it's Monty's pet project.

But.. but... MONTY OuM! HE'S GOD'S GREATEST GIFT ON EARTH. THIS MAN WORKED HIS ASS OFF FOR THIS SERIES AND EVEN MISSED SEEING HIS DYING MOTHER FOR THIS WONDERFUL PIECE OF ART! SEE! HE'S DOING IT FOR THE ART!!! XDXDXDXDXD
But on a serious note, Fuck Monty Oum. That guy is a pretentious douchebag and I am not enjoying this series. Though I still find that abridged series I posted earlier to be more entertaining than the real series. Well... that and /co/'s reaction to the series.

Holy hell, what the fuck? Even if RWBY was better than The Godfather, that'd still be unconscionable.
So it's safe to say that Burnie and co. have little or nothing to do with this series? Good to know.
I haven't been paying attention to this at all, but is that really true?

I might have over-exaggerated on him working on RWBY, turns out it was Season 10 of RvB. But still... here is a blog post where Monty talks about his mother passing (http://montyoum.net/archives/602) and how he basically worked through it.
Burnie and Matt are just Executive Producers for the most part. I think Matt might be doing a voice here and there in the near future. To be fair, I did hear rumors that it was Matt and Burnie that wanted Monty to keep the episodes of RWBY short, since Monty wanted them longer. Then there was this other rumor where Monty wanted to have a villain that wouldn't be introduced until the 3rd season, but Burnie told him "Not to get ahead of himself and that he might not get a season 3."
All I knew that Monty Oum did before this were those Dead Fantasy videos which were just a bunch of CG action scenes using Dead Or Alive and Final Fantasy character models. I'm not sure how someone who only did random action sequences like that thought he'd automatically be good at telling a story, but I suppose that explains why this series is as shitty as it is.
To be fair, some of those were good, but they were just fight scenes with good enough choreography for it to tell a story by itself. Maybe Monty is a decent guy in real life, but this series is boring and shows he should have had someone else at Rooster Teeth take care of the story.
I remember those Dead Fantasy vids to be pretty sweet. In a way, I still do.
Wonderful choreography. But that seems to be where it starts and ends with them. hmm..
Um... (http://roosterteeth.com/news/entry.php?id=5427280)
I really hope he's okay. Best wishes to him, and all his family and friends.
Eep... I may not like RWBY, but this is just horrible.
On the bright side, it does seem the donation goal for his medical coverage was surpassed in one day.
I want to say that news article could've worded that a little better - almost as though a grave has been already been prepped and ready for the man. Shit! O_o
That is unless the situation really is that dire (and it could be).
Regardless, I'm sure we'll eventually find more info as to what exactly happened to him in the coming days.
I can't stand RWBY but...
RIP. (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCEQqQIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Froosterteeth.com%2Fmembers%2Fjournal%2Fentry.php%3Fid%3D3302319&ei=CtHPVMBwg7yCBKPlgZgH&usg=AFQjCNG86MIqBu-bmU4EAwZ_79Kie1-2TA&sig2=KGjmymTXzFzViq3ArhbHjw&bvm=bv.85076809,d.eXY)
The man was amazingly talented. I loved Red vs Blue as a kid (and still do, to an extent), and his fight choreography really added a lot to the action scenes.
RIP. He will be missed. :'(
That's just awful.
RIP Monty Oum.
Booo! RIP Monty Oum.
Reading tweets from his friends about how important he was in inspiring them to create their own work, and the screen's starting to get fuzzy.

Same. And remembering how much I appreciated his work when I was younger without even knowing it was him...
Man, that sucks. :(
I wonder what's going to happen with all that donation money, though. They spent all that only for it to be in vain after a few days. That's really depressing.
I've honestly seen none of his work, but it's still a shame. RIP
It's just awful to see someone so talented pass away at such an early age.
R.I.P., Mr. Oum.
He made Red vs. Blue's action scenes possible. They weren't all perfect, but most of them are still great to watch. I'm sure they'll be a dedication to him in their next season premiere; whenever that is this year.
I guess burnie at Rooster Teeth knew just how bad the situation was after all.
Such terrible, horrible news.

I would imagine just about all medical expenses incurred will be paid off. This would ease some stress on his family. Any amount left.. I have no idea.

Maybe the rest of the money can be used to fund the funeral. I mean, those things aren't exactly cheap. Give the man one last celebration knowing that soon, he'll meet people that can match his resolve.

Very true. Many are rare to plan ahead for a funeral and that may tend to correlate with age, too.. At 33, that was fairly young.

Yeah, almost no one thinks about dying at 33. Hard to imagine a situation more tragic than what happened to him.
Save it for the inevitable malpractice lawsuit.
Never watched RWBY or Red vs. Blue, but 33 is way too young to die. Love or hate his work, this is someone who loved what he did and was cut off at a relatively young age, and that's tragic no matter how you slice it.
Rooster Teeth had this to say: "As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to."

Not disparaging Monty at all, but RWBY wasn't anything special. I recommend you check out Red vs. Blue though, it's a fantastic series. All the episodes are available on their website and Michinima.com, as well as most of them being on YouTube. The first season might be slow, but trust me its worth it as it establishes a of plot elements and hilarious running gags that get brought up throughout the series. Halfway into the second season is when it really gets good, as that's when it forms a full plot.
If you want to see what Monty did for the show but don't want to sit through the entire series, check out some episodes from Revelations aka the eighth season.
Yep. This is happening.
