Title: Nick @ Nite
Post by: Spark Of Spirit on March 10, 2011, 07:27:49 PM
Ugh, Friends is coming to the block. It's not a freaking family show, dammit.

Anyway, I thought having a thread for this classic TV show block would be cool.

They just keep on getting Warner's leftovers, don't they?

I haven't used the block since Fresh Prince was still on it. Malcolm and Chris are decent shows, but I don't sit down to watch them much.

Malcolm hasn't aired in over half a year, I don't think it's part of the block anymore.

But seriously, I wish they would get some TGIF stuff like Dinosaurs or Step By Step. Those would fit way better than Friends does.

They acquired the rights to Friends years ago.  I think right after the show ended.  I remember hearing that it wouldn't start till 2011-2012, I guess the time flew faster than I'd realized.

I wonder if they expected the show to already be reran into the ground by this point.

Friends isn't a family show, but that doesn't stop kids from watching it.

The newer Nick@Nite skews, the less shows they get a chance to air, so they might get raunchier shows now. Either they can pull out some older Nick kidcoms or wait for Modern Family to ends, because there really isn't much else for them to give a chance at this point.

Well, I get if I can stomach George Lopez, I can sit through Friends. I just wish they would choose better shows. They still air Family Matters and Full House, so it seems kind of odd that they can't keep airing Roseanne or getting other sitcoms from the same era.

I kind of wish they would put more older shows on, at least on TV Land. I hate how whenever I turn to that now, all I get is Raymond and their new stuff.

Does Home Improvement still air on N@N or TV Land?  I know TBS stopped showing it last fall, after many years of showing it, and it'd be a shame if it's no longer on TV anymore.

I know Roseanne is still on TV Land though, usually late at night.  It also airs for like three or four hours straight in the afternoon most weekdays on Oxygen.

I know it still airs on TV Land. Dunno about Nick@Nite.

Every few months they'll play like 1 episode early in the morning, but no it doesn't air regularly.

That said, Malcolm is still in the N@N promos, but HI has actually been aired more on the block than that show has.

I always thought The Drew Carey Show would be a good fit for N@N, especially given that it isn't airing anywhere in syndication right now. It's also one of those shows that'll never get a proper DVD release (music licensing is a killer), so it'd be nice to have a place to actually watch it again. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for it myself.

I wouldn't mind it as I liked the show when it was on, but it would certainly be a better fit than Friends is.

Yeah, that's a terrible call. Especially the whole part about N@N locking up the rights for it nearly ten years ago. Ugh, give me a break; it wasn't that good.

Most overrated goddamn sitcom I've ever seen, in fact. And to think there's actually a crowd that puts this on a pedestal higher than Seinfeld. Subjective taste and opinion is one thing, but shit; I can only handle so much.

That 70s Show is coming to N@N. I'm still puzzled as to why this airs on Family next to Full House (polar opposites and all), but at least it will be more tolerable than Friends when it comes on.

Still, this show is on way too much.

Not a bad idea, since Ashton coming to 2 1/2 Men will probably give the show some revitalized interest.

But it's not like the show doesn't air enough in repeats. Same with Friends.

I love That 70s Show, but yeah, I guess it does air a lot.  I do remember watching it on several different channels(FX, ABC Family, syndication) at different times on the same day.  Kinda reminds me of how much Family Guy is on really(and also pisses me off since The Simpsons should be on as many channels and times as FG, if not more).

Doesn't really matter to me too much anyway, since I own all the seasons, but whatever.

N@N's recent problem is they've been grabbing too many shows that air on every other network. It kinda weakens the block as a whole.

Wow, early That 70s Show is way better than the later stuff.

Since the other channels air the later stuff way more I never really noticed, but it was way better in the early seasons.

Married With Children is coming to N@N?!? I just saw the ad.

Shit, retire George Lopez and the line up will finally be watchable on a consistent basis again.

Heh, not surprised. TV Land has been airing it for a while now.

Good call, though.

What the fuck is this Victorious bullshit on Nick at Nite?  Get that shit out of here.

It's not like this damn show doesn't play enough on regular Nick.

God this channel has gone to the dogs.

Yeahhh, I'm pretty sure they're just giving the 8 PM hour back to regular Nick, which is why Victorious is on and why they tried All That and Kenan & Kel at the same timeslot. If it still has the N@N bug, it's probably just an error.

But it's still full on Nick at Nite.  They are airing promos for a Nick at Nite show(some shit I've never heard of before, Hollywood Heights), and are airing N@N type commercials.  Unless ads for Netflix and Hamburger Helper and Progressive Insurance and Glade Plug Ins air on regular Nick now.

Just check if your ship's television has MeTV or something.

Again, probably just an error. They might have these ads set for earlier, but don't feel like replacing them with more typical Nick ones.

Although Victorious really does seem to be helping their Hollywood Heights show in the ratings. It was an outright bomb when it started up, but since Victorious started airing, it's picking up steam.

I'm not on the ship, I don't live aboard anymore(unless we are underway, at which point I have no choice).  I live in a Navy provided barracks room(it's sort of like an apartment, except everything is paid for by the Navy).

I don't think we have MeTV, that's a certain company/only in certain markets if I'm not mistaken.  I'm pretty sure we have Antenna TV and RTV on the digital sub channels(disclaimer, i was watching TV on my CRT at the time), and we have channels like TVLand and WGN America on cable.

Currently watching Full House, and god damn it I can't look at Bob Saget without thinking of DarthGonzo.  Thanks a lot Daft.

Hey, I started that joke. :P

It is weird that they randomly brought this and Family Matters back. Not as weird as that brief period when they brought back The Brady Bunch and then replaced it with All That and Kenan & Kel, though.

Oh really?  I thought it was Daft...

And hey, as long as they aren't showing George Lopez, then I'm happy.  Can't wait for that show to disappear into Obscurity Land.

They've had that show for what, 5 years, and it's about as much of a presence now as it was when they picked it up. They really started to cut back on it when they brought Friends over.

Who would've thought that such a mediocre sitcom would be such a big hit for them?
