I just watched this movie after seeing the recent Half in the Bag recommendation, and I urge you all to check this movie out! It was a very successful IndieGogo project, asking for a meager $10,000 budget, and it made over three times its goal! It later went on to win multiple awards at numerous film festivals.

See the trailer here.

Turbo Kid takes place in the post-apocalyptic future of 1997 (or rather, the 1980s view of 1997). An unnamed orphan child tries to scavenge and survive in the Wasteland, but then a chance encounter with a girl named Apple turns his world upside-down. They quickly develop a friendship and learn each other's survival tactics, but Apple is kidnapped by the tyrant Zeus. The Kid, who is obsessed with comics, comes across the bunker of his childhood hero, Turbo Rider, and dons his costume and powers. He crosses paths with a cowboy named Frederic, whose brother has also been captured by Zeus, and they set on a quest to save the Wasteland from his reign.

This film is a great pastiche of 1980s pop culture, using a classic pop-synth soundtrack, retro-cyber technology, and practical effects. The gore effects (which there is A LOT of) look great, and the film oozes every ounce of love and respect within its small budget. I had a blast watching this film. It's not to be missed!

Right now, the movie has a very limited theatrical release, and since it wasn't playing anywhere near me (or many of you, for that matter), the easiest way to watch this film is through digital download. Here are the places where you can rent or buy it.

It's coming here fairly soon, and I'm interested in getting a group to go see it. Looks awesome!
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

New blog!
