Clarence is a new series coming to Cartoon Network in April, and the pilot is now available for viewing on the website.
http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_shows/clarence/video/clarence-pilot-episode.html
This series was created by Skyler Page, a former storyboard artist for Adventure Time (you might notice some artistic similarities). The series is about a weird kid named Clarence and his awkward friends. Clarence has just transferred to a new elementary school, and on his first day, he invited all his classmates to a sleepover house party, but his first appearance isn't exactly favorable, so only two kids actually join him. They get into wacky hijinks from there.
Series premiered today. I liked what I saw. It's a show that can be described as seeing things through the eyes and the heart of a child. It doesn't feel as dudebro as the other shows on right now, it actually does feel like something that fits CN proper.

Yeah. As much as I love a good chunk of Cartoon Network's current offerings, it's nice to have a more lighthearted show like
Clarence on the channel. Between all the supernatural/sci-fi shows like the
Adventure Time and
Ben 10: Omniverse, it is nice to see a cute little show where the only goal is to reflect the joys of childhood in a realistic fashion. That said, I feel that the second episode
Pretty Great Day with a Girl was better at showcasing this atmosphere than
Fun Dungeon Face Off.
Fun Dungeon has its moments, such as where Jeff said that if Clarence was going to "die", he'd die with him. But it has bits such as the opening commercial and the ending music montage, where it seems like Skylar Page and crew are trying to hard to gain a laugh.
Pretty Great Day felt more natural with nothing really over-the-top. Just some kids fooling around, going on an adventure and just having fun with the other kids in the neighbourhood. It truly matched the atmosphere of the average day in a kid's afternoon, and the casual way that they handled the topic of divorce was just as good.
Overall, I'll be keeping tabs on
Clarence. Cartoon Network Studios might have another hit on their hands here.
Credit where it's due. I watched two episodes of the show, and it was nowhere near as bad as the commercials made it seem. It's actually a little charming.
I already like this show. It does a good job showing the wonder within children's minds when they run around and play.
Clarence's Nightmare is probably one of my favorite moments in the show. I just liked the reference made in it. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukPB4XeyIUI)
I can safely say this is already their second best new show behind Steven Universe. Dinner Party was a great episode. We need more Chad.
I think it's their best, myself. It's just a great slice of life comedy, easily the most "refreshing" cartoon I've seen on the air in a long while.
And yes, we do need more Chad.

Have you guys heard about this?
No I didn't know that. Can't be as awkward as me reading Toriko and knowing about Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro being arrested for having sex with a 16 year old girl. By that, I mean, it's probably one of those things that's gonna be at the back of my head.
This is awful. I hope CN's HR department is dealing with this situation swiftly. Such behavior should not be condoned and should be punished appropriately.
There's also this. (http://patrickharpin.tumblr.com/post/90666400624/clarence-head-of-story-reaction)
Wow. I really do want to get into CN's newer stuff some more, and try this out, so I hope that it doesn't end because of his actions. It sounds like the show wouldn't suffer too much without him, anyway.
Well shit. :butbut:

Can't say I'm surprised. A lot of series have less then admirable creators and still manage to be good, for the reasons this guy points out. I just hope no one loses their jobs over this Page guy.
Skyler has been banned from the studio. (https://twitter.com/sketchshark/status/484766628945465344)
Don't worry, though. The show must go on. (https://twitter.com/sketchshark/status/484767528762089473)
I didn't think this would result in the show getting canceled. It's still unfortunate that there will now always be a dark cloud hovering over a great cartoon like Clarence because of this idiot. Thankfully, his only crucial role was playing Clarence but they can always find someone else. The show hasn't been on long enough for Clarence's voice to be irreplaceable. The real creators are Spencer Rothbell and Patrick Halpin. If I were one of the bigwigs at CN, I'd have Page's creator credit replaced with their names immediately as possible.
Skyler is being treated for bipolar. (http://jeffrowegifs.tumblr.com/post/90700109592/skyler-page)
It clears things up, but doesn't excuse his actions. (Also, please read the post. I feel it's worth reading.)
Oh, oh wow, that's terrible. Obviously it's still no defense for his actions, but I do hope that turns out better in no time.
Emily Partridge's final word on the situation. (http://empartridge.tumblr.com/post/90744944014/oh-my-god-what-is-happening-masterpost)
The show shall indeed so on without Page. 13-episode extension for the show's first season was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con.
Had no doubts whatsoever it would continue. The staff and Cartoon Network themselves said repeatedly that they'd continue. I don't get what basis people were using in their logic of it somehow getting the ax just because of Page being a nutbar.
I just watched the pilot (late to the party, I know, but hey), and I liked it! I'm reminded of the sense of whimsy Adventure Time has, but in a more down to earth fashion, which is kind of refreshing nowadays.
I'm just about to start the next short now, and I hope I like it as much as the first!
Glad to see you're enjoying it. :) It really is a breath of fresh air among kids cartoons these days, and I've enjoyed every episode so far, myself.
I've caught a few episodes on TV. It's very entertaining with a good sense of innocent fun.
Holy shit, a DuckTales reference!
I'm REALLY liking this, haha.
Steven Universe made one too, just F.Y.I.
Pretty much every cartoon makes a DuckTales reference these days, honestly.
Hmm, okay.
Well, I was planning on getting to Steven Universe after I catch up with Clarence. I don't think I'll be giving Regular Show another shot, though.
The most recent episode was pretty sweet. It added some necessary shades to Sumo's character, as we get to se what his home life is like.
I'd like to see a similar episode for Jeff in the near future, as well.
They've found a replacement VA for Skyler Page: Spencer Rothbell. (http://www.animationmagazine.net/events/cartoon-network-plans-surprise-packed-nycc-panel)

It seems it's what the next episode will be. "Average Jeff" premieres on October 2. They have a preview clip. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnlbrQFSAQk)
Sweet! I can't wait to see how it turns out.
i watched most of an episode yesterday. the one where the kids are over that nerd's house. it was decent. i could potentially see myself watching this show regularly. i don't think i'll ever like clarence himself though.
I haven't been catching up with this week's eps (I'll try to tomorrow before work), but to compliment the show's earlier appearance of the gay couple, it seems as if Jeff has two moms. Man, that is cool!
CN promo: "Five new Clarences!" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMYyoLSbU-4)
CN broadcast: Four new Clarences and a repeat. :wth:
Was Uncle Grandpa a repeat, as well?
I know that AT only got to air 4 new eps last week, because of Thanksgiving. If CN's new thing is a week of new episodes for various shows, maybe they're only utilizing that for 4 days?
New episodes return next week! Finally!
EDIT: April 6-10 at 5PM.
My favorite show is coming back. YAY! Time for more crazy shenanigans with Clarence and the rest of the Aberdale town.
It really has been too damn long. I miss that fat little moron and his buddies.
Five episodes? Heck yeah! I've been missing the show. April is going to be a good month of television for me. ;D
Another full week of Clarence premieres at 6PM!
This was another pretty good week. I like how the show is increasingly drifting itself from being a slice of life show by becoming a little more absurd, but it's still keeping a sense of reality and honesty to it no matter what. It's a good balance, one that the show is smart enough to pull off.
But really, it was great just to see Clarence sock Belson one. ;)
Airing October 27 at 6:30...

Season 2 begins January 18 at 5PM with a full week of premieres!
Can't wait! I feel like it's been forever.
Quick schedule update: There will be TWO episodes premiering today! The season 2 premiere (5:00) followed by a lost season 1 episode (5:30).
I'm playing catch-up from this week, and boy, did I miss this show.
Hoping for another Breehn or Gilben episode in the near future.
"Sumo, you're not a bird man- you're a boy man!"
This week's episode reminds me of "The Day the Earth Didn't Move Around Very Much" from Johnny Bravo. Good stuff.
That's what it reminded me of too. It was hilarious. I loved the different twist with everything being in Clarence's imagination.
This was a pretty fun episode. We haven't had too many episodes with the core 3 kids in a while, so it's refreshing to see them interact again. Heck of an ending, too.
New episodes all next week at 5:30.
New episodes pick up again on February 3, starting with the season 2 finale. Season 3 starts a week later.
Season 3 will have a story arc. (https://twitter.com/srothbell/status/826177919592435712)
Huh, that's interesting. Adventure Time and Steven Universe really changed the landscape of how cartoons aimed at kids are structured.
It's confirmed: This season is the last. (https://twitter.com/ImGraceKaufman/status/848316485256617984)
Yeah, I've seen that, and while I'm not surprised, I am disappointed. I think that this is a great show that deserved better.
Granted, the Skyler Page controversy probably threw a serious wrench into the show's future early on. That was one thing, and I'm also not really sure if CN knew what to do with the show. But even then, it never seemed like more than a modest hit at best.
Notes on the final season: (https://www.srothbell.com/blog/2017/4/5/updates)
QuoteExpect guest stars, callbacks, returning characters, character development, experiments with format, and other fun surprises!
New episodes will run till 2018 and it will have a proper ending.
I'd also recommend reading the post. It's Spencer Rothbell's heartfelt goodbye.
Shame its run got cut in half, but I knew that'd be the case since the creator had that psychotic break. At least its going to have an official ending.
A 6-part story arc will be premiering soon, (https://twitter.com/srothbell/status/862412379157549056) and the first episode will be released early on CN Video (https://twitter.com/srothbell/status/862413485946281986) (May 22).
Check out the next episode early. (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/video/clarence/episode-1-the-phantom-clarence-episode.html)
Four weeks of new episodes throughout June. (http://www.toonzone.net/forums/threads/cartoon-network-june-2017-premiere-info.5601061)
I haven't seen the episodes yet, but I just finished the six-parter, which I really enjoyed. I liked getting to spend time with a bunch of the core characters and see their interactions without Clarence. A lot of them were pretty entertaining, and it culminated into a fun finish.
I plan to get to the other eps tomorrow.
I finally caught up with last week's episodes. I know, I know, there's this week's bomb as well, but I hope to get to them tomorrow.
I really am sad that the show is ending, since I feel like it's at the prime of its life, and it deserves better than to have its final run be rushed out. I didn't love the episode about Mr. Reese (it didn't tell us that much more about him that we didn't know- that he's an idiot), but the rest were a lot of fun, the one with Clarence in the car being a personal favorite. I love the way the show handles quiet, lazy moments like this, and I especially love it when we get bonding time with Clarence and Mary like the ending.
Production has wrapped. (https://twitter.com/srothbell/status/921180464374620160)
An upcoming episode is going to have a...surprising crossover. (https://www.toonzone.net/forums/threads/clarence-news-and-discussion-thread-spoilers.5284911/page-14#post-86233992)
I love it.
The final episodes may air in June. (http://thefutoncritic.com/showatch/clarence/listings)
It's not set in stone, and I'm hoping they don't kick them to the curb unexpectedly. *coughJLAcough*
I'm excited to get more episodes, but also sad to see that we're near the end. Although I also recognize that the show was never that popular, and it's ending with a decent run that for the most part has remained fresh, so I shouldn't complain too much.
Schedule for the final episodes throughout June. (https://www.toonzone.net/forums/threads/cartoon-network-june-2018-premiere-info.5662002)
It looks like CN is going back to their weekday premiere schedule, at least for Summer.
They've been advertising doing premieres for their shows all during the summer. Not sure how that's gonna help in the long run, but should be interesting nonetheless.

Update: Never mind. (http://www.animationmagazine.net/tv/cartoon-networks-biggest-summer-ever-50-new-episodes) They're going to do the episode-every-hour thing. (Click the link for the full Summer schedule.)
The final episodes are all up now (https://www.cartoonnetwork.com/video/clarence/episodes/index.html) on CN's website.
Or you can watch them over the next 3 Sundays. Your choice.
I finally got around to watching the last batch of episodes of the show. Or rather, I've been trying to watch them on and off for the past few weeks, but life and my other shows get in my way. As per usual, we got a nice batch of episodes in a variety of ways.
I can't be too sad about the show being over, since it had a solid run and a lot of good episodes. I'd rather it end with three tight years than run past its prime like a lot of other shows. I just hope it doesn't get forgotten.
Skyler Page has been arrested. (https://twitter.com/tmz/status/1609375122141417473)
Happy New Year!
