Title: Blue Sky's "Epic"
Post by: Daikun on May 04, 2013, 12:45:40 PM
I saw posters for this movie yesterday when I went to see Iron Man 3 in theaters. It looks like Blue Sky is taking a break from their millionth Ice Age sequel and trying something a bit different.

Trailer 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6Nwdpa5PcU)
Trailer 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4qKWzVo3OA)

Anyone have any thoughts on it?

It looks more interesting than what Blue Sky usually makes. I see potential.

Hopefully the slug isn't too much of a pain.  :unimpressed:

Titling the film Epic seems a tad wanna be cool. It'd be like calling it "Awesome: The Motion Picture". However, it's nice to see Blue Sky taking a break from yet another Ice Age movie.

It looks like a 3D Fern Gully to me. I know it isn't, but it was the first thing that crossed my mind.

But that slug character. Ugh. "Urban" characters are always cringe-worthy, and reeks of a marketing team.

I've been seeing the ads for Epic, and while it doesn't look like a bad movie, per se, it does look painfully generic with all of the assembly line stock character and plot archetypes. I hope that it's good, but I'm getting a serious "Been there, seen that" vibe from the commercials for the film.
