Well, here's something I didn't expect.
CN picked up a new Sonic series. (http://blogs.sega.com/2013/10/02/sonic-boom-working-title-a-new-animated-series-coming-fall-2014)
Presuming that's Knuckles, then I don't like his look.
I don't like it one bit.
Looks like Knuckles has been to the gym. :zonk:
Cartoon Network is an unexpected choice, but I do like that Sonic Boom is going to be comedy focused. As long as it's not SatAM or Sonic X, I'm OK with it. Not to offend any fans of SatAM, but younger brother bought the DVD set of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog a few years ago and sadly, that series has not aged well.
As I said elsewhere, the fuck did they do to Knuckles? :whuh: Also seems like Sonic's got a vest.
I wouldn't mind a series like this, but the silhouettes' designs... ewww.
A new Sonic series, eh? I didn't like Sonic am or Sonic X, but hopefully this'll be a step up from those and more fun to watch.
Although I would much rather have a new Kirby show myself, but I guess that ain't happening anytime soon. :(
I'd have to see the actual art style first. But since it's comedy based, I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
A few minor updates:
A movie is also coming. (http://www.sonicstadium.org/2014/02/sonic-boom-the-first-cg-animated-film-in-the-sonic-franchise)
Also, the movie domains are registered by Sony. (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/12/14/sony-pictures-url-registrations-point-to-sonic-the-hedgehog-movie)
I wonder how long it will take DeviantArt to piss their diapers about this news.
I never thought I'd see a Sonic movie.
Hmm, that is a big deal. I also had no clue Sonic was getting a new show. Wasn't something else called Sonic Boom?

Yeah, that's the title of the OP and ED song from Sonic CD.
Ah, I thought it was a theme name from Sonic CD.
So, regarding the whole Knuckles issue...

Also, trailer. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dm-AFKUmFw)
Damn, Sonic has legs and Knuckles is pretty beefy now.
As for the trailer, feels like something out of Sonic's recent outings, more comedy based than trying to be serious. I approve of this.
I think that was really a clip from the pilot, not an actual trailer. Looks like it will be fun but also have some serious moments. I can't wait to see this!
Why was Robotnik renamed Eggman again? ???
Looks potentially good. The game does, too.

His official full name is Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik since Sonic Adventure. They merged both the Japanese and American stuff into one by then and everyone just went with his nickname. I still call him Robotnik, though. No reason except that it rolls off the tongue easier.
It's pretty much Sega's version of Princess Peach/Toadstool thing, where Eggman was what he was called in Japan and Robotnik was what he was called elsewhere.
Looks like a lot of fun! I'll definitely check out the show when it airs.

Because Eggman is a stupid name for a villain and Robotnik sounds more threatening.
Robotnik is no less of a goofy name, imo. I think it fits the character better more, though, but in a comedy-focused Sonic show I can see why they'd use the marginally sillier Eggman name instead.
I don't mind Knuckles' look at all. I'm not a fan of Sonic's voice and that humor didn't stick out at all (Egghead?)
Edit: didn't know her name was also Princess Toadstool. Shows how little I've been paying attention to Mario.
Proof that Eggman is forever a superior name to Robotnik. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvERHiTfx9w)

Oh yeah, I forgot it was his Japanese name. Like with Bowser and King Koopa.
Yep, now Bowser simply has the title "king of koopas" instead of making it his name.
Really wish they'd give his name the Eggman treatment because "King Bowser Koopa" has a great ring to it.

I had that question in the back of my mind since I last came to this thread. thanks (I think I asked that before and forgot lol)
The Knuckles design is going to take some getting used to, but it does seem appropriate. Can't say I have any problems with the others, either.
In the same vein as Space Dandy, Sonic Boom will have negative continuity. (http://www.sonicstadium.org/2014/02/sonic-boom-tv-world-to-reset-in-every-episode)
Errr... I don't mind an episodic series, but at least have a continuity going. :unimpressed:

Why? Continuity isn't exactly a requirement for cartoons. Why does everyone expect it nowadays?
New character: Sticks (http://blogs.sega.com/2014/05/29/introducing-sticks-to-the-sonic-boom-franchise)

We get a bit more info on that movie. (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/sonic-hedgehog-movie-works-at-710867) It's going to be a live-action/CGI hybrid and may have nothing to do with
Sonic Boom after all.
But...
UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE?!
E3 trailer! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PZiHlsOJt4)
Series looks pretty fun. It'd be nice if they confirmed an airdate soon.
Check out a few storyboards. (http://www.sonicstadium.org/2014/07/sonic-boom-tv-show-storyboards-depict-a-hoverboard-race)
Premieres November 8 (http://www.tssznews.com/2014/10/04/sonic-boom-2014-sonic-boom-cartoon-debuts-november-8th-on-cn-preview-shown)
EDIT: Also, new teaser! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT0oqTr3iGo)
Just a reminder: It premieres tomorrow morning at 7AM.
I nearly kept forgetting this, and I'd probably remember it better if CN would fucking advertise it. :wth:
Waaaay too early for this night owl. Though I am confused. It's Sonic the freaking Hedgehog. Why hasn't there been more promotion for this?
It's a licensed show.
I only saw one ad and it was for the video game. I know CN's YouTube page has an ad for it, but it's pretty odd not to see it on CN proper. I can only imagine the ads might play during the credits of the show before it. I notice they mostly do that for the new episodes of Pokemon with the generic ad of Ash heading to Kalos.

Felt like Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. I mean, I thought Eggman stole the show in the 2nd episode, but other than that, it was pretty... eh!
I thought it was pretty decent.
Good news: This is the second best Sonic cartoon so far
Bad news: It's still shit.
Is this show worth watching? I see gifs of it while I queue them for my blog, and some of it seems cute. It also looks kind of dumb at the same time, though.
It's sort of like the Nick Dreamworks shows. Not abominable, but not particularly great.
Buh-bye, CN. It's moving to Hulu. (http://kidscreen.com/2016/05/13/hulu-gets-exclusive-with-sonic)
