Favorite Anime

I wish anime would stick with their opening themes longer though, for instance the second Kuroko No Basket theme drives me crazy. It's so terrible.

For what it's worth, the 2011 Hunter X Hunter anime is still using "Departure" as its opening theme song, even now that we're nearly 100 episodes into the series. The only thing that ever changes from time to time are the animations that accompany the opening theme. While it's not one of my favorite opening themes, it does sound like one of the better shounen theme songs among the modern shows, and it's refreshing to see it actually treat it like a theme song and keep it running, rather than switching once every few months to some new pop song that doesn't even fit the tone of the series.

    The catchiest and most adrenaline-rushing opening of Bobobo. Once you get it in your head, you'll be singing BAKA SURVIVOR ba~by all day long!

     A classic anime opening, and among all The Slayers franchise's openings, this one is the most memorable and best fitting to the series.

    A modern classic, if you ask me. I love the english version, but it's just as kickass in japanese and it's no wonder why it's the theme song everyone always associates with One Piece.

    How did I forget this one before!? THIS opening is my favorite. It's beautiful, mesmerizing, epic, and emotional all at the same time; a perfect blend of visuals and music that has not been topped by any other anime opening I have seen. It is easily my favorite anime opening.

Favorite anime openings that aren't "Tank!" or "Cruel Angel's Thesis"

1."Reckless Fire" - S-CRY-Ed (Catchy song mixed with a constantly changing sequence as the show progressed made this one a winner for me)
2. "Smile Bomb" - Yu Yu Hakusho ('Nuff said)
3. "Through the Night" - Outlaw Star ( Everything about this opening is awesome. The song, the visuals, everything. If those first few notes don't make you want to jam out, then you have no soul)
4. "To the Beginning" - Fate/Zero (sets the mood for the second half perfectly)
5. "Hitomi no Tsubasa" - Code Geass (say what you will about CG itself, but this opening was pretty damn awesome)
6. "Guren no Yamiya" - Attack on Titan (sounds epic, and gets you pumped to watch the show)
7.  "H.T" - Trigun (I'm a sucker for kickass, rocky tunes, and thsi one is as kick-ass as they come)
8. All of the openings to Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
9.  "Cha La Head Cha La - Dragonball Z (a classic)
10. "Connect" - Puella Magi Madoka Magica (it sounds out of place at first, then you pay attention to the lyrics and hit episode 10, and it suddenly becomes the perfect opening for the series)

Honorable mention goes to both of the Ghost in the Shell openings.

As far as Smile Bomb goes, I really prefer the newer opening they did as opposed to the first. The first felt a bit too general and the second related more to the overall story.

Another thing to mention is that while I don't really like Gantz at all, the Super Shooter opening theme is pretty good.

The third version of Smile Bomb is my personal favorite version. I know the second version had Sensui and all, but the third version matched the visuals in the second half of the opening to the song a bit better to me, in all honesty.

Also, I edited my original list to include "Connect," "Get Along," and "BLOODY STREAM." Can't believe I forgot those before. 


...except now I realize I forgot a buncha openings from Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku, among others...

Screw it, I'll just remember to put them in next time. Seriously though, the first openings of Maison Ikkoku and Urusei Yatsura? Classics, without a doubt.

Anyways, here's my stab at a list:

1. "Smile Bomb" Yu Yu Hakusho (It's kind of cheesy, but it's a classic to me)
2. "Driver's High" Great Teacher Onizuka (I just love how unique this one sounds)
3. "Mystical Adventure" Dragon Ball (Just plain fun)
4. "Tank!" Cowboy Bebop (Really entertaining)
5. "Under Star" Hajime no Ippo (No other opening song can "pump you up" more than this one)
6. "Taiyou Wa Yoru Mo Kagayaku" Hunter X Hunter (The 1999 series)
7. "You Wa Shock!" Fist of the North Star (Granted that I didn't watch much of this series, but I just had to list this opening)
8. "Kimi ga Suki da to Sakebitai" Slam Dunk (A very inspirational sounding theme to fit a series of the same nature)
9. "Falling Down" Eden of the East (I don't normally care for anime licensing English songs, but this one just fit, IMO)
10. "A Cruel Angel's Thesis" (I enjoy the series well enough, but this opening was honestly my favorite thing about it)

   This is probably the most perfect ending ever, in the way it presents elements of Spike's past life, with grayscale visuals, and a sad yet still funky song to go with it. Real Folk Blues indeed.

    Everything about this ending is beautiful, from the brilliantly colored visuals recounting parts of Fu's past to the addictive song filled with so many emotions. I can never, ever get enough of this ending, and it most certainly is my most favorite out of any anime ending themes I've ever seen.

I'm not going to make an entire list for it, but I really like the 1st and 3rd YYH endings, as well as "The Real Folk Blues" from Cowboy Bebop. Other than that, I know for certain that my favorite ED theme would be "Heart of Sword" from Rurouni Kenshin, but I couldn't make much of a list beyond that.
