Damn, dude! Great list!

There's so much stuff in there, but those are all really great episodes. I mean, I haven't actually seen all of them, but your write-ups do them enough justice to make me see how great some of those episodes are, and of the ones that I have seen, I can agree on the level of quality of the episodes that you have picked.

I'll comment on some of your specific choices, later, but I definitely have to agree with you on YYH and HXH in regard to how those are among the few shonen series that can make fights really interesting by going beyond just straight-up fist-pumping action, and have a ton of battles between characters that are far more based on their psychology and wits than on their physical strength.

The Shadow Gentleman

Fantastic list, and I agree with everything you said about "Live Through".

Ufotable is doing another Fate anime. Rumor is that it'll be Heaven's Feel, which was by far my favorite route from the VN.

PLEASE LET IT BE TRUE

Rynnec

HF would make sense, but it's also likely that they'll do the Fate route, since that's the one that closes out Saber and Gil's character arcs. Or they can even do their own original story with the setting.

Hell, for all we know they could be adapting Fate/Aprocrypha or something, since they haven't given a date or anything.

Foggle

Fate route sucks though (IMO). I'd be good with literally anything else, but PLEASE not that shit again. Personally, I think they'll do HF, since that one is most similar to Zero in tone.

Rynnec

Fate is the route that interests me the least, so I wouldn't care that much if they're adapting it either. I'd love to see a good UBW adaptation though, since that's the one I'm most interested in.

Oddly enough, where I come from most TM-fans seem to like the Fate route a lot, while HF is the one that has mixed reception.

Foggle

Fate is a snooze fest. Unlikable protagonist, tons of exposition dumps, very little character development, cookie-cutter villains, unconvincing "romance", harem antics and bad comedy out the ass... the action scenes are excellent - though far below the level of those in the other routes or F/Z - and the back-story lore stuff is really interesting, but it just... I don't know. I think it's very weak from a narrative standpoint. Almost turned me off of Type-Moon stuff forever (and I'm very glad it didn't!). Arcueid's route in Tsukihime was far more enjoyable as an "introductory arc".

I have a few problems with Unlimited Blade Works, but it's pretty damn good on the whole. A genuine thrill-ride, especially near the end. Loved Archer, Rider, and Lancer in it. I'd definitely be ecstatic to see a proper anime of that. (Deen's movie was nonsensical pap.)

Heaven's Feel is by far the most well-written route IMO. It does a lot more with the story and character development than any of the other arcs and has some of the most badass fight scenes in the history of fiction. It connects almost perfectly to Fate/Zero by giving Kiritsugu his redemption and concluding some of the plot threads that went unseen in Fate and UBW. Shirou grows as a person by making the hardest choice of his life in a realistic manner. Kotomine becomes one of the coolest characters of all time. The sex, while still badly written, actually feels like it has a purpose. I could go on.

Spoiler
Didn't Rider die to Caster early on in the route?

Speaking of Tsukihime, I think it's about time for a ufotable adaptation of that too. Not sure why it hasn't happened yet, especially with Melty Blood's relative popularity. If said adaptation gets dubbed, the can even use that fantasy cast that wikipedia has for the characters for some reason. :sly:

Foggle

FUCK, you're correct! I totally meant to say Caster there. :awesome: Rider is really cool in HF though.

Yeah, I'm so confused as to why there hasn't been a Tsukihime anime yet. Prime material for an animated adaptation, that.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

Heaven's Feel sounds like it's the name of a porno.

Sorry, I just had to throw that out there. :sly:

Spark Of Spirit

My favorite part of Trigun is 'Flying Ship'/'Out Of Time' two-parter, since it has about everything that makes the show as great as it is. The best single episode in my mind is probably 'Paradise'.

Lord Dalek

I'd go with Rem Severem myself.

That being said... I would never put any Toei anything (One Piece included) in a list I made because they never put any effort into what they shove out and and most of the time the episodes just blend together into one anomalous blob.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

For the most part I agree, but there are the rare stand-out episodes in Toei productions where they get a really good director and really high-end animator to work on it if they know its something that's a big deal (like episode 474 of One Piece, for instance). Unfortunately, though, these instances are all too rare, and even when you get good episodes, they are still heavily tied to an arc and can't really be seen as great stand-alone pieces.

You're not far off, actually. God, Nasu's "erotic" "writing"...

I need to re-read the VN (or maybe I'll just watch the upcoming anime), but I believe the term "Heaven's Feel" was used a couple of times in reference to the creation of the Holy Grail. IIRC it was done in an almost subtle manner, and wasn't even uttered in the HF route, which actually has very little to do with its title.

I'm personally fond of 'Fifth Moon', mostly due to the epilogue, and the Angel Arm sequence. But all three episodes you mentioned are really good too, especially 'Paradise'.

Digimon Adventure 21 comes to mind.
