I love that thread.

That section got me listening to a lot of my favorites again. I might do a thread for this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOn4wsNj0EU) album (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9nNrufLfyY) eventually as well. Such amazing power pop/ska.

Awesome idea, and a really great album to start it off with.  I've always loved The Song Remains The Same and Over The Hills and Far Away, and the breakdown at the end of The Ocean is one of my favorite pieces of music.

One you should consider in the future, and I might just be saying this because I just listened to part of it, is Boston's self-titled.  I have a pretty big affinity for that one.

That album is so awesome. Don't Look Back might be my favorite Boston song, but the first album is legend.

Peace Of Mind is the best song on it, no doubt.

I'm considering it. I'm going for artists with stronger or bigger discographys to compare with, but that's a great album.

My next one comes from the same era as HOTH, is arguably far more important, and Desen hates it's title track.

Told ya that you hated the title track. :P

I'm not doing these daily or bumping this each time, but I might get another one up tonight if I'm feeling up to it.

My next album is referenced on this board somewhere. All I'll say.

If you like your metal bands basically playing punk music, then the song should be good enough for you.

Do I have to request Electric Warrior?

Because, fuck... ELECTRIC WARRIOR.
Title: Re: Avaitor's Classic Albums Discussions
Post by: Avaitor on March 02, 2011, 06:38:14 PM
mmhmm, T. Rex. Yeah, I'll try to fit that in.

Right now I'm sticking to what I know best, which is hard rock/heavy metal, but I'm going to delve into other stuff after a few albums in that range, just so I get comfortable.

I'm going to challenge myself a bit though, since one of my upcoming ones is going to be an almost entirely all-instrumental one. Let's see how I handle that one.

Okay, so Rush is done. Now I need to decide which one to do next:

The big one, the one that I will go apeshit over, or the one everyone would expect to be done, which I won't be as big on.

When are you doing another one of your talkbacks on tz?  Because after listening to Who's Next this evening, I'm gonna go ahead and campaign for you to do this one.

Along with me still pushing for Boston of course.

Sorry, dealing with a busy schedule and a couple of crisis's now. Not to mention the one I'm working on now is going to take a LOT from me, based on my affection towards it. Maybe I can do it tomorrow, but I'll be busy until Sunday if not, so you may not see it until then.

Yeah, I've had Who's Next planned. It'll come eventually.

On another note, you know what album I'd love to do but no one would reply to? This one. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vFIvVjuoRM&feature=related)

I'll still consider it somewhere along the lines, in an underrated classics series or something.

Also, my next review won't be nearly as positive.

Two things I want to point out

1- You guys also checking out Dalek's talkbacks? He's not going as indepth as I am since it takes a while, but he has a few planned as well. We both try to keep ours fairly locked up though, but not so much so if one of us do something the other planned on, I'll make note of it. I might also archive them on later, if he does more of them.
2- I may or may not do a research paper on Operation: Mindcrime for my Comm class. If I do, then I'm going to take it off my list for a little while, so I don't tread repeated ground too much and become Queensryche'd out. If I do, you probably won't see it until the summer, although considering how far I had it planned out, I probably won't do it until then anyway. This is just in case I go advanced on it.

My next one will be out in a day or two. Taking tonight off, but I might get to it soon.

I've been keep track of both but Dalek usually chooses the right artist but the wrong album for me.  :P
Title: Re: Avaitor's Classic Albums Discussions
Post by: Avaitor on March 15, 2011, 11:05:29 PM
Well after some thought, I'm not doing my paper on Mindcrime after all. I'll keep it on my schedule, but it's still not due for a little while.

My next one will be coming out soon, but probably not tomorrow. All I'll say about this one is that this is going to my first oen that goes over 15 songs. Blame the differing US vs. UK versions.

Hola

I keep on finding this album at a pawn shop for about 50 cents, but for some reason, I keep on passing on it. Dunno why, since it's a good one.

I'll respond and vote tomorrow, since I need to play it again. Been a while.

Took me long enough, but I finally got the next one done. Eight in so far, what are you guys thinking about these?

I'm considering doing what NC used to do and put up what my next 8 will be in advance, so you can anticipate what will be done next. Would you like that or would you rather I keep up with the surprises?

I nearly went with the more expected Night at the Opera, but I figured all I would hear was "well, I never actually played this album, but I sure love Bohemian Rhapsody!", so I went with SHA instead. Works better for me, and I won't be tempted to randomly talk about the Marx Bros when I do it.

Yeah, I decided to do my next album as planned instead of my sideproject. That might be done before I leave on Thursday, but I can't confirm that. This will require a lot of work to get right, since I'm an annoying perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this.

Maybe, but i have a lot planned.

Anyway, sideproject's here (http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3840127#post3840127), and don't expect Highway 61 for at least a week.

I keep on delaying the main series, don't I?

Well, for now, here's another modern talkback. (http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?285481-Toxic-Holocaust-s-quot-Conjure-and-Command-quot-Talkback). I think I'm going to make a section for those in my OP now.

And I might make more talkbacks for albums from this year on here. The stuff I missed or forgot about. If there's any interest, at least.

And ya'll better support Grind and his ventures.

Guys, I might make a surprise edit for my planned talkbacks, in lieu of the upcoming anniversary of a particular one.

Any guesses?

I wonder how much money that kid got for showing his wee-wee on the cover of that album...

Of course now, 20 years later, you couldn't release an album with that art without everyone going all To Catch a Predator on you.

If you're thinking Illusions, you're thinking wrong. Already did my GNR talkback.

That said, I might break my one album per artist rule next year for the 30th anniversary of a particular release. And if you still can't guess what I'm doing, who says the anniversary in question is it's 20th?
Title: Re: Avaitor's Classic Albums Discussions
Post by: Kiddington on August 23, 2011, 12:56:18 PM
Well, jeez... going by that, you could be talking about an album's 8th anniversary, or some other weird number.  :P

I just assume 20th, as that's a pretty landmark milestone for an album (more so than a 10th). So... yeah, with that said, I got nothin'.

Great post!

Had no idea the only Alanis track to be up for a VMA was Ironic; kinda figured it would have been You Oughta Know before anything else. As much flak as that song takes for the lyrics being totally out of context with the actual definition of the word ironic, I still love it; it's probably my song she's ever done (interesting choice, I know... but hey).

1999 was an absolutely ghastly year for music as a whole, but those VMA choices are nothing short of brutal. Backstreet Boys? Korn? Ewwwwwwwwww. You could just see things were taking a turn for the worse with a crop like that.

Lot of other fine nominees in there, though; Sabotage, Basket Case, New Pollution... great songs, and great videos. And yeah, totally agreed on Bittersweet Symphony as well. Fucking awesome song; one of my favorites ever, as a matter of fact. Really too bad they didn't win.
