To start off with, hHow does everyone feel about me implementing a chat room for the users of this board?

Spoiler
Spoiler tags! ;)
I'll look into setting some up!
You know what this place needs? A shoutbox!
What, JellyNeo and The Millennium Forums has them, why can't AR?

Maybe, I'll see if that'll work. ;)

Sounds a bit clutterish, if you ask me. We still have the AIM and IRC chats to use if we really want to chat.

Not to mention it will probably take some conversation away from the forum. :(

True.
You know, Animation Revelation definitely needs it's own Wiki.
The Millennium Forums has a Wiki, why can't we?

I don't really have the time or dedication to set up a Wiki. If you or anyone else wants to, though, feel free.

No thanks.
You should've gave us more warning. I really don't want one.
With all due respect neoking, it's Avaitor's site. You should really stop making these especially if it's without his permission and if he flat out says "no".
I also suggest you delete the Wiki to avoid further confrontation.
"What are you doing now? Stop doing things!"
Sorry, just a random Philip J. Fry quote.
Yeah, if Avaitor doesn't want it, it probably shouldn't exist. Out of respect for the original creator, an' all that.
Yeah, we all appreciate your enthusiasm in trying to support the site, but for future reference, make sure you get Avaitor's approval before setting something up.
Not just mine. Foggle and EK's opinions matter just as much as mine.
In fact, if they're alright with it, then fine, keep up the Wiki. I personally think it's a nuisance, but it's their call.
I'm kind of in agreement with Avaitor. While it doesn't necessarily strike me as a bad thing, it does strike me as a pointless thing. This is a small site that doesn't get a lot of visitors. A wiki is meant to be a source of useful information on something much more complex, like for a big TV series or novel series or for a much larger site. In our case it really serves no purpose, since none of us need to use it, and since I highly doubt some random wiki browsers will want to check for information about a random (to them) small site like ours. So, in this case, its kind of useless.
Now, if you do wish to show your support for this site, feel free to ask Avaitor, Foggle, or myself in ways you could be useful in doing so. Like I said, I at least appreciate your effort and enthusiasm, but make sure you check with one of us in advance of its OK to do something. That's all we ask. ;)
It's partly my fault, since I kind of gave the go-ahead on it earlier. I should've consulted with Avaitor and E-K about it first. Personally, I'm fine with it existing, but - like E-K - I don't really see it having much of a use.
Avaitor, I think it'd be a good idea for you to make another Disney thread like on the old forum. Ya know, the one where you pick a Disney film, talk a lot about it, and then we give our opinions of it. ;)

I'll think about it, but I don't have the time to write giant essays like that again, or the patience to repeat myself on movies that I've already done like The Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast.
You guys are more than welcome to try something like that on your own, though.

Then I have my own idea. I'm going to make a thread, and each day I will post a Disney film. It will be counting down my top 10 Disney list. So basically, on the first day I will post #10, and people can give opinions on that movie. The next day I'll post #9, people can talk about that, and so on. You get the idea?
Sounds good. Go for it.
Am I the only one who's having issues with the site taking time to load? It may be my downloads slowing shit down, but the site loads super slow for me, and sometimes doesn't load at all, giving me a message that says something like the host server isn't available at this time, please try again later.
Yeah, it's been loading a little slow sometimes lately. Haven't gotten the message about the host not being found, though. Sounds like a problem with the server; I'll check it out later today.
Same issue here. It was really slow before.
Seems fine now, but it gets pretty bad sometimes. I'll try to look into that more.
Yeah, I know, the darn SQL server is on the fritz... again. :gonk:
Also, I noticed that all the spam-bots are vanquished. :sly:

Mmm-hmm! :joy:
Bumping this for a rather personal request. I'm sure it doesn't bother most people, but the lack of UTF-8 on this forum gets in my way sometimes. See, I have this weird habit of using the ellipsis sign (...) because it's a part of my keyboard layout, and it shows up as a question mark on here.
I don't know how much work or time it would take to re-encode the forum, but it can't hurt to ask. It would also allow some creative use of special symbols, and support for japanese symbols and emoticons I suppose. Not super-useful, but hey it's 2014. :P
I honestly have no idea how UTF-8 got disabled. I've been trying to fix it for a while, but nothing seems to work. It's been half a year since I last attempted anything, so maybe I can give it another go.
I just installed a new version of the UTF-8 character set. Please try typing stuff now!
I'm so... happy ?•?? ?•???
Edit: Oh my. At least I got my ellipses  And suddenly the [new!] image is gone. Correlated?
I tried my best. :-[ I'll try to fix the [new!] image now...
Is there a way you guys can implement an image scaler for this forum?
Other forums have a tendency to scale down images if they're too big for the page.

AR doesn't do that. If an image uploaded here is too large, we have to do the dreaded horizontal scrolling.
Is there something we can do about this?
I don't think so, unfortunately.
Normally, when am image is too large, I just reformat it myself and then upload it in a smaller size using Photobucket. It's kind of a pain to do, but it works.
Here's a suggestion for those who wish to try it. It's a simple bbcode image size tag.
Using this coding will reduce my sig image size to 200 pixels wide and still keep it proportional...
The image width number can be specified as any number you wish for any reduction.. [img width=200]http://i.imgur.com/5Ewmua4.png[/img]
Now let's make it clickable for full size!
(https://animationrevelation.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F5Ewmua4.png&hash=6b4677b33724eb95946549a57494df3e87203789) (http://i.imgur.com/5Ewmua4.png)<---Click for full size!
How is this done? As you'll see below, the original image size url has been wrapped around the reduced image coding which I showed above..
[url=http://i.imgur.com/5Ewmua4.png][img width=200]http://i.imgur.com/5Ewmua4.png[/img][/url]
It'd be nice if the forum could do that automatically for large images, but I think your suggestion could be helpful in the future.
Thanks, Lord Il.
Awesome discovery, Il! Maybe I'll see if I can find a way to work that into the UI somehow. :joy:
Glad to help! :e_hail:
I know it's a bit of a pain as is, but perhaps a copy, paste and save of that coding example somewhere on everyones comps will help reduce some hassle for any image resizing you would like to do.
Mozilla announced on their blog (https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2015/04/30/deprecating-non-secure-http) that their Firefox browser will soon phase out access to non-secure HTTP websites. Any website that isn't HTTPS could be blocked. Pretty soon, AR could see a decrease in visits by Firefox users who are unaware of the upcoming change. Is there a way to encrypt the URL to this site?
I'll be using Chrome slightly more than. :kabapu:
I already switched to Chrome. FireFox kept on crashing on me and moving way too slow.
chrome's been slow to me when i tried it for that reason but maybe it's just my computer.

What the fuck is this shit? I use Firefox and I've never even heard of this garbage. Thanks for the heads up! I'll see if I can make the site HTTPS secure and also probably switch to Chrome.
Here's hoping they decide not to go through with it, though; this would kill access to a majority of the internet...
Especially much of the sites you visit. :>
So I got a new MacBook, and I'm having issues copying and pasting on here. I know how to do so on Macs perfectly fine, and I have no problems doing so elsewhere, but here I just can't.

It's been a while, but now there's an update: A free HTTPS certification service that was in the works for several months is now open.

Thanks, I'll check this out. :)
