Title: Greatest Anime Series
Post by: Dr. Ensatsu-ken on December 24, 2012, 11:26:31 PM
I figured lets try to do another one of these game threads for anime since its been years since the last one. The last time Yu Yu Hakusho got voted the victor, because there were only 4 of us participating in the thread at the time and at least 3 of us were huge fans of the show, so its kind of clear which series would come out on top. This time I think more of you would be willing to participate. But, just to be fair, since YYH won last time, it is ineligible to be nominated for this particular roster.

Also, notice how I noted down anime "series" in particular. For this competition, I would like to stick to mostly TV series or OVA series of anime. So movies are inelligible, as well as single-part OVAs. I'd say that an OVA series can qualify if it has at least 3 or more separate releases, and any TV series is fine (once again, with the exception of YYH). Other than that, there aren't any other rules that I can think of. Its pretty self-explanatory. Just nominate however many good anime that you can think of and we'll pit them against each other in rounds featuring 4 titles at a time until we get to 4 finalists, from which we will determine the winner.

For now, the max limit of entries for this roster will be 64, but if enough people participate in this game thread and there is room for more entries, then I can always extend that limit. Here are a few of my nominations:

Hunter X Hunter (1999)

Hunter X Hunter (2011)

Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid

Cowboy Bebop

Trigun

Black Lagoon

Digimon Tamers

Kids on the Slope

Dragon Ball

Gundam 0080

So we can nominate any anime series, right? Because I wouldn't consider Cowboy Bebop or the first half of Trigun to be serials.

Akagi

Baccano!

Darker Than Black (first season and OVA only)

Ergo Proxy

Fate/Zero

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (first two seasons only)

Hyouge Mono

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Kaiji

OK, We still have 6 spots left to fill in before we can begin this thing.

If nobody else nominates anything I may just nominate some mediocre anime to fill in the rest of the roster so that we can get started.

I believe that somebody already nominated Macross. But the other entries are fine, so in that case we only need 1 more anime and we're good. :)

Technically you came too late as all of the remaining nomination spots have been filled in, however I'll go ahead and replace 2 of my own entries with the ones you nominated (2 of the lesser ones that I know wouldn't win, anyways). That said, specify a Lupin series that you want nominated. There's Green Jacket, Red Jacket, Pink Jacket, or The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. Pick one so that there is no ambiguity among which Lupin series we are talking about.

Thanks man. The 2nd series (Red Jackey, I believe)
