Title: 50 Shades of Grey
Post by: Avaitor on June 18, 2012, 07:42:08 PM
This book needs its own thread.

(https://animationrevelation.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F25.media.tumblr.com%2Ftumblr_m5u9rrWFPq1r37t0ao1_500.png&hash=fe79795ea54cda7f2a470ddc2d9f2605e42636b9)

And I need to read it.

Amazing. Someone actually got this published, sold 10 million copies, and has multiple big name studios fighting for the movie rights.

That just makes it funnier.

Here's my quote from the other thread:

Quote from: Spark Of Spirit on June 30, 2012, 05:55:13 PM
So I went to see Brave and stopped by the book shop in the mall since they had a giant rack of 50 Shade Of Grey out front. I picked three random passages to read and was stunned each time.

The first involved cleaning vomit out of pants, the second involved a hipster getting deep listening to Snow Patrol and really thinking man, and the third involved a breakfast scene that climaxed with one character wanted to have sex with the others mouth.

At the front of the store so anyone could walk up and grab it.

Wow.
I think if you want to get a book published nowadays, you shouldn't have much of an issue with this as your argument.

The author of this book is writing a How-To guide for writing.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go buy the Song of Ice and Fire box set, and a couple of Barnes & Noble collectors editions. I think I need to support good literature before shit takes over everything.

real adults and/or fans of the book watch this in normal theaters. that is seriously probably the best guess i have for why this garbage is so highly anticipated.

The trailers are incredibly creepy. I'm hoping that once the audience is actually watching it and not just fantasizing what's going on, some of them will realize how messed up the whole thing is.
Title: Re: 50 Shades of Grey

the commercials are actually bearable but of course they don't show shit. i have never seen a trailer.

hopefully the movie retains the book's worst parts like the vomiting and then america has a big WHAT THE HELL WERE WE THINKING moment and the film gets forced into obscurity.

A funny joke on Conan's episode on 2/10:

Conan:  Hardware stores are actually stocking up in rope and duct tape in anticipation of "50 Shades of Grey". Apparently tying your boyfriend up is the only way you'll get him to see "50 Shades of Grey." These guys over here are like, "That's right, yeah". And their girlfriend's are like, (shaking finger) "You're going to go!"
Andy:  "I'm not seeing that sex movie! No way Jose."
Conan:  "We're going to that environmental documentary!"

also, 50 shades seems to be very popular among women and while most men could care less.

^Hopefully they didn't just walk out the door without first asking for their money back or credit their tickets for another flick instead.

I'm somewhat surprised that it did as well as it did over the weekend. But for many it was probably a 'curiousity that killed the cat' type of situation.
