Talk about where you work here. Also, talk about places where you wish to work in the future. (EDIT: Freelance and internships count as well.)
I recently RSVP'd for a job interview at an ice cream parlor. I'm really excited!
Good luck!
I'm in the Navy, actually leaving my ship next week after four years of being stationed on it.
I work at a golf club. It's okay. Coworkers are likable for the most part. Job itself is serviceable. Overall, a source of money. Not much more than that, and not a huge personal connection to it.
I also work at a music venue in Philly. That job is awesome, but it's only in the summer, which thankfully is coming up.
So today, I got paid to basically do nothing but play on my phone. I actually visited this site at some point while there, but didn't post anything.
Can't complain too much, can I?
I'd complain about coming to this site, even if I was paid while doing it.
Kitchen cabinet finisher. Wood stain application, spraying high quality lacquers, paints. And when not too overly busy spraying, I can actually get out of the spray booth and do some prep work! :e_shocked:
I miss my previous job of making antique furniture reproductions, though. I was involved in nearly every aspect of their manufacture. This was stuff that was built with REAL wood and meant to last a lifetime. Unfortunately, not enough people were willing to pay for such good quality product and the business ended up folding.
Before that, I worked at a pottery studio. Made plates, mugs, jewellery and figurines. Lots of labor involved.
A career in animation was something I once wanted to pursue. My high school art teacher tried to encourage me to go to an art college because she saw potential in my drawing ability and thought I had one hell of an imagination for it. :il_hahaha: It just didn't make sense for me at that time to pursue something like that - I needed a paying job and needed it quickly. Going to art college, well, I couldn't see myself landing a job in art and design quick enough.
Come to Denmark and let our socialist welfare carry you as you pursue your true dreams in animation!!! :shakeshakeshake:
I feel like I should update this thread, since it's been inactive for two years.
The ice cream job I applied for (from the OP) unfortunately fell through, but I managed to pick things up. I now work at a property rental service, and the pay is quite good.
How have things been doing for the rest of you?
Pretty well. I was the first Employee Of The Month this year and trained a couple others who went on be EOTM
That sounds good for both of you! Congrats.
I'm working at Universal right now, doing food stuff. It's okay, but not something that I want to do for the rest of my life. I'm hoping to get to meet some higher-ups and do something with my degree eventually, like write for NBC or something. From what I've heard, it's not out of the question.
Good luck!
