Which features to you wish were common among games in specific genres. My picks:

Fighting Games:
-Tag Team Mode (Get with the program Soul Calibur and I wish Tekken had this for its main games instead of just TTT)
-Good Story Mode
-Tournament Mode
-Survival/Endurance Mode (It should illegal to not have this these days)

Shooters:
-Bots
-Co-Op Bots
-Perfect Dark/TimeSplitters series/Halo multiplayer mode customization options.
-Multiplayer Map Maker that with up/downloadable maps.

2D Shoot Em Ups Or Beat Em Up:
-4 or 6 Player co-op (I love you X-Men)
-Be able to loop through the story mode as long as you have continues left (I love you X-Men)
-Survival Mode
-Boss Rush Mode
-Players can pick the same character
-Multiple Paths/Endings (I love you Contra Hard Corps)
"Ryu is like the Hank Hill of Street Fighter." -BB_Hoody

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

All action games:
-Good enemy AI
-Higher difficulties that change up enemy and item placements (as opposed to just giving enemies more health)
-Open areas for exploration, alternate paths, OR lots of hidden items scattered throughout levels (as opposed to just linear scripted set-pieces chained together)

Fighting games:
-Tutorial modes that are actually USEFUL for new newcomers in learning the core combat mechanics
-Final bosses that still obey all of the normal rules of the game (as opposed to the cheap ones that plague 99% of fighting games)
