Remember this thread? Just post videos of people playing games at a ridiculosly high skill level that people who have played enough of that game can really appreciate.
Also, I was wondering if any of you guys were into the video game walkthroughs where people teach you how to play a game on its hardest difficulty and do it with handicaps or S rank it or whatnot?
Here are links to some that I follow:
Royta15 - Metal Gear Rising Revengeance S-Rank NO UPOGRADE run: http://youtu.be/PSMB3S-zDSA
Seraphim17 - Pretty much every single hack n' slash game that he does, especially his DMC3 one which I'm currently still using and find to be EXTREMELY helpful: look up his channel on YouTube
Mythic Tyrant and RC Master- The former for his Legendary and Mythic difficulty Halo walkthroughs, and the latter for his speed runs and "special" runs (like zero-shot or pacifist)
I also like to watch a bunch of SSFIV tutorial videos from pros, even though I still suck at the game. I do still get a kick out of watching Daigo Umehara play at tournaments, though.
Other than that, I mostly like watching Combo MAD type videos that show off people with insane skill at hack n' slash games. Here are some of my personal favorites:

This is a bit obscure for this thread, but is mighty impressive nonetheless. (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/02/weirdness_super_mario_bros_record_for_lowest_score_is_beaten)
Forever repost. HD version this time though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq1ey4-ewyQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq1ey4-ewyQ)
I have an entire playlist dedicated for these kind of videos. (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLANm2YAUtpVAKA3ACjrTHJEkyRmJnWgAw) The focus is primarily on fighters and hack'n slashes.
Heh, you and I have the same taste in hack n' slash games since I've seen and love a lot of those combo videos as well. I also recommend checking out some of the walkthroughs with commentary, though. The people playing really do a great job of explaining how the game works and how the more skilled players can do what they do. The only problem is that they all make it look so easy through slick editing. Many people who make these videos fully admit that they can't play that good all of the time, but rather that they just upload their best runs, which does of course make sense.
These kinds of videos make me really wish that I could afford good video capture equipment and editing software. I would totally learn how to use them and try to make my own (inferior) videos if I had the time and funds.
I don't have any videos. However, know what gameplay footage video I'd like to get? The one the Nostalgia Critic used in his recent movie editorial, showing footage of Mario performing these insane stunts in the original Super Mario Bros. Like, at one point in the video, Bowser threw a bunch of hammers (similar to how the Hammer Bros. fight) and Mario somehow jumped right through the center of them. It even looked like he got touched by one of the hammers, but he must've just barely missed it by a tiny inch. And the Mario footage in that editorial is filled with stuff like that. To be honest, I couldn't tell you what Doug was saying at the time, I was too distracted. :P
EDIT:
Actually, I do have a gameplay video. This is one I used to like. It's Jill in RE1 killing the first Tyrant with only the knife.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LII33e5lYz4
I have to say, I remember, many years ago, I used to practice at that game to be as good as these types of guys. But I could never come close to the level of the people who beat this game using only the knife. I did, however, once beat the entire game with only the handgun, which is mildly impressive, but nothing like doing it with the knife. I have, however, defeated the Tyrant using only the knife... along with a boatload of healing items. Not very special when compared to people who do it without getting a single scratch, like this video.
Thanks Rynnec.
Hmm, after I finally beat Hell and maybe when I get to all the secret sublevels, I'll look up masterful videos of Spelunky. I still suck at that game. So unforgiving.
For the most part it should be no surprise that I only watch videos of fighting games (specifically Capcom with a hint of GGXXAC+ thrown in as well). I used to watch what's his name, I think it's reim or something like that for Ninja Gaiden 2 just to see how to get through master ninja, but that quickly faded out when I got my hands on my ps3 (along with DMC4).
Anyway, I watch tournaments and character specific videos (I've seen quite a bit since I go through quite the character crisis)
SSF4: AE2012
Ryu - Of course I watch Daigo, but for a more flashy Ryu I go to xWAx Solid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du93JT-EKow). Also no harm in looking at Alex Valle and Sekinganryu (#2 Ryu in Japan) either. But if I'm looking for something specific to Daigo, vs Infiltration (1st to 10) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKxNHooO5Mk) and vs Xian (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va7lYoUL3bo).
Ken - Quite a few people I tend to look at. Momochi, MMS BSIDA, It's Show time, Michael Tan (#1 Ken), but because I'm always looking for flashiness, Playerjun52 is the goto Ken (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTzk-N3aB1U).
Evil Ryu - When it comes to him I only look for Japanese players. There aren't many players here in the U.S. with the level of execution. Naruo, KOK, and of course Sakonoko (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAl7IGUB9l4). You can probably look up Sakonoko for Evil Ryu alone.
Ibuki - Sakonoko. Nuff said (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEc3gMjhF44).
Guy - I usually look for Kiryu Tsukimaya for Guy, but check this sexiness out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3giq9aw3Vk#t=30).
I'll stop there because I can probably go on for days posting videos on SSF4 alone (and I still had roughly 6-7 characters to go)
I've been watching more videos of Goldenrody's and Jourdal2012's channels, but mainly for GGxrd. I've known about the channels for quite some time, but I've been watching their channels a little bit more these days, especially now that I've been putting in the time to learn Johnny in +R.
Sick Johnny footage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnfejwXtdkQ)
Looking at it now, I used to say Guy was the most stylish fighter, but that has changed. Now I'd say he has more swag than other fighters. Johnny is definitely the most stylish fighter.
Gotta love speedruns. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9ew-mgVhp4)
What the hell, a Mega Man hack 'n slash?
Classic Mega Man meets a simplified Mega Man Zero. Nice!

What the hell, a Mega Man hack 'n slash?
It's a sidegame to a Megaman-style doujin game called Rosenkreuzstilette Freudenstachel, which is a sequel to this (http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/rosenkreuzstilette/rosenkreuzstilette.htm) (which also has a Zero-style sidegame btw). They're worth checking out, especially if you're into both Megaman and Castlevania.
This video made me want to get this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBgD0RScmd0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBgD0RScmd0)

I saw a couple of resets in there, but I would have to assume that's combo practice. Decent video, but kinda hard to really get into it especially after watching KoF13, but I'm for pretty graphics so don't mind me.
Best of Sakonoko (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgEoS3cDz80). He uses Cammy, Ibuki, Rose and Yang in this clip. In a newer clip you'd see him using Evil Ryu and Gen (probably)
The greatest Ninja Gaiden player (http://youtu.be/yWlyDxUmb-A) that I never knew about until now for some reason. This guy plays insanely awesome if you understand the slightest bit about just what it is he's doing in these videos and how much goddamn skill it takes to play that way. The link is to one video but it's really his whole channel that any NG fan needs to check out.
So, TS17 has started a walkthrough of The Wonderful 101 (http://youtu.be/83mNMbnrbR4) on 101% Hard mode. For those unfamiliar with his output, he does a lot of game walkthroughs on their hardest difficulties, and as a massive fan of Platinum Games, he does many of their titles as well. He also has some interesting commentary on the games, though he does have a tendency to go off on unrelated tangents in longer videos. What's especially interesting is that with the other 2 PG games that he did, he did 2 guides for each, with one being a regular hardest difficulty run, and the other being a rank run (Pure Platinum for Bayonetta and S-Rank for MGRR). Judging by how much he enjoys this game, he'll probably go for the same, so it's worth watching for anyone interested. As for me, I haven't played the game yet since I don't on a Wii-U, but I enjoy watching his videos, so I'll likely stick with this guide, as it helps me stay interested in this game so that I remember to pick it up whenever I finally do get around to owning a Wii-U.
Just be warned that a lot of W101's fun comes from the crazy levels that arise out of the game's whacked out story. It gets more and more over the top as it goes.
Sounds like every Platinum game ever made, then. :joy:
TS17 finally got back to his TW101 guide: http://youtu.be/GhHeRBqO2fA
It baffled me when he said that everything in that entire video had absolutely no checkpoint, which I think seems kind or ridiculous given how challenging he made it sound. I like challenge, but I've never been a fan of making things tough via a lack of checkpointing. It seems like when I finally do play that game, that may be one of my main gripes about it, but to be fair it didn't look like anything about the fight was overtly cheap, which TS17's commentary seems to support other than that one section where he admitted that the hit detection was fairly off.
....the most ludicrous achievement in gaming history: http://kotaku.com/someone-beat-ninja-gaiden-iis-hardest-setting-without-1640248311
To be clear, as an actual fan of this game, it's still flawed, and unlike DMC or Bayonetta or NGB, it us NOT designed tobe a game where you can avoid every attack. So, quite frankly, even I thought that this feat was impossible. I can't wait to see how mental people are being on the NG boards right now. This is literally the most interesting thing to happen in the NG fandom since NG2 actually came out (which is very telling).
::EDIT::
I just hope that this isn't fake. Some skeptics have suggested that, but I haven't seen enough to be sure whether it's legit or not, yet.
That sounds insane, holy wow. Will watch later.
Having beaten Master Ninja mode myself, and having seen an hour of gameplay footage, it looks pretty legit to me. But you just have to love the trolls who claim it's not that impressive because it's not a single run and instead edited together between sections. No shit! It would literally be impossible to no damage thus game in a single run. It's twice as long as most other hack n' slash games and you'd get unlucky sooner or later. Others complain that he plays it too safe and doesn't take any risks. That's what you're fucking SUPPOSED to do when you don't want to take damage. Have these ass-holes actually even played the game before. This is amazingly impressive, especially considering that T he us literally the ONLY recorded player to have successfully completed this run in the 6 years since this game came out. Just for the sake of comparison, DMC4, Bayonetta, and MGRR each had multiple no damage runs uploaded on YouTube within a month of their respective release dates. That's how comparatively insane it is to no damage run a game like NG2 vanilla.
I know I'm a few days late on this, but Awesome Games Done Quick (http://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick) is going on right now. If you have any free time and love speedruns, then check it out.
I completely forgot about this thread. I would've posted some of Smug's Dudley. A lot of the USF4 footage for some unknown reason is lost now. I don't know if it's because the user got hit for copyright issues or just stopped altogether, but a lot of USF4 is gone. I can still find a few things here and there. But whatever, a lot of the videos I watch these days are of most fighting games or XLH Gladitor (or friends of his).
First video I'll bring is Dragon Ball Fighterz because I know everyone loves it. Jokes aside I've been inspired by this guy name Raptr. His Hit is crazy and you just don't see a lot of Hit players playing like this guy. He has his own channel and it's mostly comedy, but he's really good. If you seen in my signature I'm flopping names around because of this guy and one other (Vegito player). Anyway, I'm rambling, here's a compilation of Raptr's Hit team (A.Gohan, Hit, SSJ Goku)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDFO1fVIL90&list=PLStqT3N3710u2erHUe5YMe3-TKU9yyUi2&index=2&t=0s
I'm hesitant on Goku because I don't like him at all. If I don't like a character, I'm not choosing them, which is why you see Goku Black in most cases for me.
