Title: Regular Show
Post by: Daxdiv on December 31, 2010, 11:27:16 PM
Regular Show thread? Regular Show thread.

Come one and all to discuss, what I believe to be, CN's greatest show that premiered during the 2010 year. What can I say about this show really, other than it's amazing, the writing is pretty clever, the character actually feel like people I would meet in real life, the voice work is top notch, and there is rarely an episode of this show that doesn't disappoint me in one way or another. There's always something in this show that I either enjoyed, or laughed at.

Right now, if I had to pick my favorite episode, it would be a toss up between Free Cake, Death Punchies, Grilled Cheese Deluxe, and Mordecai and the Rigby's.

I've been hit or miss with most of the episodes I've seen, but "Ello Gov'nor" blew me away.

if there are more episodes like that, I want in.

Regular Show should be considered one of Cartoon Network's better new series since the oldies like Dexter's Laboratory and Johnny Bravo. I don't think today's kids will ever find any of the hidden 80s references unlike us dedicated elites.  :awesome:

So I just found out that aside from moving Sym-Bionic Titan to Saturdays, CN is also starting up premieres of Regular Show tomorrow. Since I'm with my parents for the break, that means no premieres for me unless I want to delve into the Ponyshit depths of /co/ to get some encodes.

Fucking scheduling, how does it work

CN lost its ability to make sensible schedules a loooong time ago. It's like they expect everybody to just DVR everything.

I'm in 2011, and my family doesn't even have a DVR. Well, glad that I get off of work, and will most likely collect like 6 Raikou after getting off of work, which shouldn't take long, so therefore, I think I'll be able to catch it. But yeah, I sometimes feel that CN just throws darts at show and times to see what lines up.

I've only seen three episodes: the one with the evil hot dogs, the one where they become a "band", and the one that aired last night with father time and stuff. I like the dialogue and characters, and I really want to like the show, but I don't really know how I feel about it.

Also @ Daxdiv- Pikachu in a highchair.  :sly:

Monday's episode was pretty good. I thought it was a nice twist to have Mordecai being the jerkbutt of the episode and to have Rigby teach him a lesson, even if that did end up in his death. Normally, most episodes deal with Mordecai having to teach Rigby a lesson. It was nice to see that, especially since it deal with him not getting to be around Margaret. That and Father time was an interesting character.

@Veggie WHY IS THE PIKACHU IN A MOTHERFUCKING HIGHCHAIR?
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Rosalinas Spare Wand on February 01, 2011, 10:02:59 PM
So umm, why do people think Margaret is a legitimate cast member and she deserves more spotlight? It's been pretty obvious since day 1 that she only exists to give Mordecai another obstacle in his life every day.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Daxdiv on February 01, 2011, 11:49:25 PM
I think it has to do with the fact that if Margaret wasn't there, the show would be a sausage fest, or at least that's the complaint I get from her fanbase, or people that want a female to take the spotlight in a CN comedy, or people that aren't happy that most of the current CN stars are boys. Well, that's the impression I get from the Star Bros.

Really, she is nothing more than a living plot device. Hell, I will even go as far and say that High-Five Ghost has more development and a better personality than Margaret has or ever will have. At least HFG pals around with Muscle Man

CN sure seems eager to put this show in marathons and find any extra timeslots it can use up.

A good sign, because that means they recognize quality when they see it. Now give me some DVDs.

Post by: Spark Of Spirit on February 22, 2011, 05:58:26 PM
Hmm...

Oh well, it's fun to watch, so I hope it sticks around a while. There's just something quaint and "classic" (I don't meant "classic" in the quality sense, I mean in it's approach) about the way it all works together.

I wasn't sure if it would really work as an ongoing series, but after watching a few episodes it seems to be working out.

So, did anyone else catch the recent episode where Mordecai saw Pops naked? They kind of stealth premiered it after the Hall of Game Awards.

Well basically, it went like this, Mordecai saw Pops naked, so to get rid of this image, Rigby made him watch this anime thing from the rental shop, and because of that Mordo's memory was sucked into the world of the video. That kind of left him into a state of being a zombie. Then Rigby enlisted the help of Skips to get him out of that state, and they also got sucked into the video. Then, they had to go into Mordecai's memory to cover up the Naked Pops, and they succeeded.

Though, for some reason, this scene right here got a good laugh out of me.

I'm a full fledged fan after watching last night's episode. Benson should really star in more episodes. After watching that episode for the 2nd time yesterday, I figured out which character Steven Jay Blum voiced right before that character committed suicide.

Two months ago, you liked it.  :humhumhum:

As for my opinion, I've already let it be known that this is my favorite comedy currently running on CN, at the moment... and really, it's not even close. The others are very hit-or-miss, in terms of just about everything, but Regular Show just clicks for me. It's the only one that, as of right now, hasn't had a truly "bad" episode, in my opinion (although, the plots that revolve around Muscle Man are a noticeable step down; I guess I'm the only one that really doesn't like that guy), and the completely "out-there" style of humor, combined with all of the 80's callbacks, just works wonders here. For the most part, it's also pretty well-written, with only a few occasional shades of dialogue that doesn't sound so good. So... yeah, I'm a fan.

I hope it lasts. There really hasn't been a new CN comedy I've enjoyed this much since Foster's. As of right now, this is the only one on that Monday-night lineup that I make of point of tuning into as much as possible.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Spark Of Spirit on April 29, 2011, 05:04:57 PM
Probably that new show smell. As I said, there's nothing really wrong with the show, but something about it doesn't quite click for me.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Kiddington on April 30, 2011, 09:41:58 PM
Nah, I hear ya'. The appeal to this isn't universal, and I can see where certain aspects of the show would turn one off. The banter between Mordecai and Rigby can get kinda stale at times, and as I said, Muscle Man is pretty annoying.

Again, though; in my opinion, this is still the most enjoyable comedy on CN right now. Nothing else really comes close for me.

Me and my sister love this show. For reals!  :swoon:

I don't know why, but Benson is my favorite so far. Sure it's formula gets a tad old, but meh it works. Honestly, some of the episodes that have strayed from the formula seemed to have been the worse for me. Especially, the Mucsle Man ones. :-/

Regular Show is one of the few cartoons I watch anymore, and with good reason.  It's witty, enjoyable, and is far and away better than anything else on Cartoon Network.  It would have fit right in with the Cartoon Cartoon era, IMHO.

That being said, the last two episodes or so have been kind of weak.  I guess they're just burning off the weaker plots as we near the end of the season, but still, it's a little disappointing.

I like "But I have the Receipt" if only for the final moments where they let their imaginations get the better of them and ended up injuring the store clerk.

That and "Rage Against the TV" It was nice to see an episode where everyone was nice to each other and wanting to play the game.

I'm really glad Regular Show has done well and shows no signs of stopping. It's kind of amazing that 35 episodes have aired in less than a year (though they're quarter hour episodes).

It's been a while since I've enjoyed a CN comedy this much.

Man, this thread is dusty. Anyway, in case you guys haven't heard, Regular Show is set to make its DVD debut this spring. (http://tvshowsondvd.com/n/16302)

Unfortunately, it's nothing to write home about; another one of WHV's patented "best-of" volumes, par for the course in the way they usually handle anything that pertains to CN. Doesn't make any sense why they're going this route, considering this set will contain 12 episodes from Seasons 1-2, when Season 1 alone consists of only 12 episodes. Seems like a major waste of time, and there are some rather glaring omissions here ("Don", "The Unicorns Have Got to Go", etc.). But, this is probably the best we're going to get, I'm sure.

It's set to arrive this April, if anyone's interested.

I didn't really like Don or the Unicorns episode.

Sucks that the DVD release is botched like that, but I'll take what I can have. I like almost all those episodes anyway, and it conveniently comes out right after my birthday. Gonna have a good time with that and Xenoblade.

Definitely one of the better shows to air on Cartoon Network in the last 4 years. Regular Show is like Clerks meets Meags XLR with some elements of Rocko's Modern Life mixed in for good measure.

Interestingly, my mom once came on my brother and I watching RS, and she's been a fan of the show ever since.

Angry Beavers was more of a throwback to the old-school Hanna Barbera style funny animal toons, whereas Regular Show is more of an animated slacker comedy with some tripped out stuff added for effect. It's also one of the very few non-action shows on Cartoon Network that centers on adult characters, rather than children. I think that the only other comedy cartoon presently on CN to do this is The Looney Tunes Show.

Initially, I thought that Regular Show could be airing on Adult Swim (I'd much rather watch this instead of the non-animated so-called "comedies" on AS), but honestly, RS is too good to succeed on the current AS.

I like Regular Show, but it definitely has its share of problems. A lot of the episodes seem to follow the same formula as in: Mordecai and Rigby are lazy, they do something, it causes some supernatural shit to happen, they save the day somehow. But I can't quite place what it about the show I actually enjoy.

My favorite characters are easily Mordecai and Benson.

I just watched an episode where the characters try and win a pair of fuzzy dice from a Chuck E Cheese style place, only to have them taken by the robotronic band because they had hidden diamonds in it, and the episode culminates in the FBI coming and engaging in a gunfight with the robots.  There's also a reference to "balls dropping"(puberty) at which Mordecai and Rigby snicker at.

For some reason I have a hard time believing this is a kids show.

I don't even know anymore.

Also, the show likes to use random 80s references, kind of like Family Guy.  This episode ended in a Breakfast Club styled ending, complete with the Simple Minds song, which is something I'm pretty sure Family Guy has done on at least a couple occasions(the one that comes to mind is the pre cancellation episode with Lando Griffin and the toads).

And what's up with this orange show?  My god, there's so little effort in this it's scary.  Not only does it live up to its name as annoying as fuck, there's virtually no writing or acting or anything in it.  It's just a bunch of creepy looking produce jumping around the screen, with the orange saying something sarcastic and cackling.

Holy fuck.

Indeed, it does. I could easily see Regular Show airing on the early Adult Swim schedule, before every show had to contain random stoner humor. In fact, CN made J.G. Quintel tone down on some of the language since the 1st crop of episodes, where the characters would use words like "crap". Funny how the shows' writers still managed to sneak in a joke about "balls dropping" in "Fuzzy Dice".

It's basically Cartoon Network's response to Nickelodeon picking up Fred as a series. Since they already picked up the biggest, mind-numbingly terrible internet phenomenon that is some how popular with the kiddies, CN felt they needed to nab the next biggest. At least that's how I think it went down.

I know these shows are what their pushing right now, but unfortunately, the question continues to be begged; why can't CN/Warner ever get around to finishing up the multitude of releases they started and abandoned halfway through?

Fuck man, I want my complete EEnE boxset.
Title: Re: Regular Show

Didn't they have Shout! release Adventure Time's sets?

But yeah, since Warner has surprisingly finished up Animaniacs and Tiny Toons' sets without reverting to that MOD shit, I would like to see them try to do the same for the older CN shows. I'd be fine without them having bonuses, but I just really want the rest of Eds and Johnny on DVD.

Nope. (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Adventure-Time-Finn-Jake-Season-1-Press-Release/16736)

Honestly though, at this point, I'd even take MOD. It's better than nothing.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Avaitor on March 15, 2013, 01:47:57 AM
Alright then.

I'd consider MOD. Although I'm happy to see the shows hit Netflix, I don't really like the idea of streaming options replacing hard copies, since it'd just make the unfinished sets we bought worthless. It sucks to the fans who supported the show when we could.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Kiddington on March 15, 2013, 01:52:07 AM
Things don't last forever on Netflix either. See; Rugrats, etc.

Hard copies, assuming you take care of them, are eternal. And this is why I'll always be in the crowd that doesn't buy into the idea that streaming is the be all, end all form of media.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Avaitor on March 15, 2013, 01:56:15 AM
Technology is losable. Hard copies, unless you mess them up, are forever.I'll probably stick to buying DVDs/Blus, CDs and vinyls until they stop being available.

It's kind of like comparing a kindle to an actual book. Kindles are great- you can have instant access to millions of books if you have the cash in your bank account (or even not, with some classics), but nothing can replace the feel and smell of an old book. And I like my liner notes and artwork, dammit.
Title: Re: Regular Show

Yeah, I've often found myself being stagnant when it comes to technological consumerism. I mean, I enjoy the convenience of having my favorite shows on data, but there's a certain nostalgic affair in being able to have your DVDs in front of you.

...oh God, that makes me sound old.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Kiddington on March 15, 2013, 02:02:43 AM
For me, streaming is good for the kind of stuff that I'm unsure if I'll like and/or actually want to own or not. A lot of Nicktoons fall into this category; I wouldn't mind catching up on As Told By Ginger again, and maybe I could appreciate it more now that I'm older, but even if a DVD set existed, would I really want to spend money on that?

Otherwise... hard copies plz.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Avaitor on March 15, 2013, 02:03:26 AM
I know what you mean. I felt like a fogey with my last post, but I'd be lying if it wasn't true.

Not that I don't use technology to help when I can, though. If a show that I want to watch is streaming on Netflix, I take that up the first chance I can. But even though it's on Netflix now, I'm still buying all of HIMYM on DVD.

I still go to a comic shop every Wednesday and buy my comics. Monthlys, one shots, mini-series, even volumes, you name it. I still like having a physical copy of anything in my hand. Maybe it's because I don't have a Kindle or anything, but I kind of like the feel of paper in my hands. The only aspect this doesn't hold true for me is PC gaming, since everything is digital AFAIK.

With that said, I am so buying this shit.

Even though I support buying physical copies, I have to admit that I was annoyed as fuck when I saw people complain about Marvel putting up downloads of their #1 issues for free on their app because "it's just online distribution".

Hey, motherfucker, free comics. Even if you prefer buying the real deal, this is the perfect way to sample out series before you make big purchases. Still don't want them? Don't download anything and just shut up.

I'm loving this show more and more. It's literally the only show that I keep up with these days...well until Korra and Dan Vs. comes back (if Dan Vs. comes back)

Anyway, by keep up, I mean watch new episodes from the last couple of months since I missed like two years worth but still. Except for Dan Vs. I can't remember the last time I bursted out laughing so much because of one show. I'm liking Benson more and more (I always liked him) and I've been keeping an eye out for the Mordecai/Margaret episodes.I watch this show for the goofing around but I have a soft spot for those episodes even though the snail crawl tthat's their relationship development is kind of annoying :D

My favorite episodes:
10. "Bad Kiss", "Stick Hockey" (tied)

9. "Cool Bikes" (CHECK IT OUT, SON! I think the pre-trial events of this show are kind of weak by rewatching the trial this month a few times has won me over. Also cool to see Benson go out of his way to save the fellas)

8. "Camping Can Be Cool" (2nd favorite Mordecai/Rigby/Margaret/Eileen episode. I love those episodes.)

7. "A Bunch Of Full Grown Geese" - I didn't like this episode at first because it confirmed my dislike of the baby ducks but those geese beating the crap out of Pops/Rigby/Mordecai's sandwich, the Acme style scenes of Mordecai and Rigby trying to get rid of the geese and Rigby trying to call out Benson on his threat of firing them and then promptly getting him and Mordecai ran out the room by a screaming, red Benson are gold.

6. "World's Best Boss" - I love the ending battle so much.

5. "High Score" - Put it here basically because it's the favorite episode to watch with my baby brother. Ugh. Giant Beardo Face!

4. "Death Bear" - The ultimate Mordecai/Rigby/Margaret/Eileen episode that I've seen so far. Death Bear's costumes slays. I am chuckling as I type this.

3. "TGI Tuesday" - The start of the extremely addictive trio. Probably my 2nd most watched episode, if not the first. A pretty fun episode where, despite what Rigby says, no one's life is at stake for once. I just love watching that dance battle.

2. "Silver Dude" - Probably my most watched episode. This came out of nowhere. I thought this would be a throwaway episode after the season premiere...it ended up being the other way around. I still have Rigby's and Mordecai's freestyles stuck in my head. Screw Rap It Up, this episode clearly has the best rapping in the series.

1. "Slam Dunk" - I had to stop rewatching this episode so I wouldn't wear it out...now I want to watch it again.

My wishful thinking is that maybe they'll do a blu-ray for seasons 3 and 4 together like they did for seasons 1 and 2, while keeping the dvds to single seasons. Because there's still no word and it's a bit ridiculous.

1. they have one episode where they actually give a good reason; rig and mordo are the only two guys stupid enough to do the parks most mudane jobs and combat monsters. of course everyone on the park deals with the supernatural but skips is the handyman and tends to just advise and mm and hifive have slightly better jobs, iirc, and usually just run from danger, lol. 2. i think she's in the recent thanksgiving episode (and i think all the cast's immediate family). i forget.

I thought for a while Margaret would return, I just didn't know when. I don't mind Margaret, just please don't have Mordecai backslide by dumping CJ for her.  :immad: Mordecai's fling with Margaret got old because it was too dragged out, whereas with CJ it's been better paced and has fleshed him out better. Judging by how convenient it was CJ came in just after she left, I at least think there's a strong possibility that Mordecai will let Margret go. After he probably takes time to "figure things out" I'm sure.

I missed the most of the episodes in between the dating site episode and the halloween special so mordo being fleshed out is news. i just remember it being kind of annoying that mordecai was still awkward around women he likes after all the time he spent with margaret. that was a serious backslide.

The first episode was a total treat. The second one, though... :butbut:

i came here to say that i enjoyed the first episode as well. it felt kind of special and i loved the end. i was laughing so much! the first episode i really liked since mordecai got with cloudy j. merry christmas mordecai was such a bait and switch. you thought mordo would finally move on but he failed for the 3rd time, the last time he did it twice in one episode.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Peanutbutter on December 05, 2014, 03:08:32 PM
I loved the first half with Muscle Man's pranks. The gang getting revenge on him was hilarious, especially since they played "Holly Jolly Christmas" over the whole thing. I liked the bait-and-switch with Benson almost backing out. I honestly thought Muscle Man would get the last laugh, and I was glad he didn't. I love the big galoot, but that wouldn't have been as fun.

I loved most of the second half until the very end. Dang it, Mordecai! But in all seriousness, I don't think he's breaking up with CJ for Margaret. I wouldn't call this jumping the shark yet either. I'll wait to see what happens next. As long as they don't have Mordecai go back to Margaret, I'm fine with this for now. But yeah, definitely not comfortable viewing.

Title: Re: Regular Show

I agree with everyone, the White Elephant Gift Exchange was probably the best episode of the bunch "I didn't want to retire at 65 anyway." That and Muscle Man getting pranked at the end was quite the treat. Merry Christmas, Mordecai... yeah, it was OK until Mordecai fucked up his relationship status with Margaret. I wonder if this was the kiss Future Rigby went back in time to prevent over the one that happened at that New Years party.

I knew they weren't going there with Margaret!  :awesome:

But thank God anyway for the confirmation. There were a few parts that made me nervous, but they righted the ship. Now hopefully they can just let Margaret be her own character and let Mordecai continue his development. Have to say, I like that we have a show where for once the protagonist stays with their second girlfriend without dumping them for their first love. How often does that happen with fiction in general, nevermind in animation?

Oh, and it was great seeing Mordecai's mom again!

New additions to my favorites list. I can't really put up a new list from start to finish due to it being so long since I've seen my favorite episodes but I will note that High Score is no longer on there since it's been so long since I've watched all of it, even though I saw most of it a week or two ago for the first time in years and liked it. It's high ranking still might be due to nostalgia though.

Bank Shot - I didn't like this episode too much when I first saw it. Maybe because it was basically the sequel episode to my favorite episode in the series. I did like how it's one of the VERY few episodes to make Rigby shine and I was entertained by that shine much more upon my last viewing of Bank Shot. Rigby: Oh yeah! My shots are like the best part of the alphabet! LMN- All: Oooooooo! It's a joy to see a Rigbone showing where he doesn't get turned into a freaking giant. Seriously, there's at least 3 frickin' episodes of his where exactly that happens.

Picking Up Margaret - I have no clue why this has never reached my favorites. A Mordecai/The Warriors adventure? Sign me up!

Cruisin' - The lengths these two go to just get some digits.  :D A pretty funny Eileen/Margaret/Mordecai/Rigby episode.

The White Elephant Gift Exchange - I explained most of what I would say about White Elephant around Christmas. Eligible for top 5 status in the show.

Trash Boat - My favorite Rigby episode. I really have no freaking clue why this one is not listed yet, I might have saw it afterwards, idk. One of the only times where Rigby looking like an idiot and laughable loser is not cringworthy/almost cringworthy. It goes from decently humorous to downright hilarity with a character beatdown done right being responsible for some of the laughs. Mostly the rhythmic comedy does it for though. The part where the fat rocker rhythmically screams as he bashes into the bank door, the laser musical instruments battle, So I've come back in time to keep you from changing your name to Trash Boat. (Sings) By killing you...these 3 parts are some of the series' funniest. I am pretty sure I just talked myself into liking this episode more than White Elephant.

And that's all..I think. I think I may have another episode but that was probably Trash Boat.

Not that happy myself, but I knew things would have to come to a head again before CJ becomes friends with Margaret, which I think is where they're going with this. Margaret has a boyfriend, so that cements her not getting back with Mordecai. Thankfully, CJ took all the blame and didn't let Mordecai carry one ounce of it so that softened the ending a bit for me.
Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Daxdiv on March 12, 2015, 08:05:27 PM
I'm at least glad that CJ took some responsibility for getting angry and jumping to conclusions instead of dog piling Mordecai for his misunderstandings and reading things the wrong way.

With that said, I think it might the smart move to dump CJ. Now, I'm not saying that he should go back to Margaret or anything, but he really should think twice about dating a girl with issues like that.

Yeah, this is the 2nd time she attempted to kill him. The first time was her debut. Seriously. It wasn't out of character at all for her to overreact. And just when I was trying to get used to her. Ugh.

Honestly, I'm expecting the season finale to be Muscle Man and Starla's wedding, and for Mordecai to propose to CJ during. And their inevitable split will be what the movie consists of.

Yeah, I really hope it sticks. The show needs to take a break from the romantic stuff, since it has never been very good at it.

Also, I love how Mordecai was dressed up as the Dude in the episode.

I feel like every time I tune into a new episode, it's either crappy romance shit, death-kwon do guy, that knight dude from the egg hat episode, or something involving the baby ducks. I've become sooo disinterested in Regular Show over the last year. Were any of the new episodes this week batshit insane? I didn't catch all of them.

Except Muscle Man's relationship with Starla. And High Five Ghost with Celia. And Rigby and Eileen. Heck, Mordecai was fine with CJ only until Margaret came back.

Point is, they can do romance but for some reason, Quintel and his crew got it into their heads that Mordecai had to break up twice to get more development.

Got to see the Regular Show Movie at the SVA theater today. Though there were some quibbles with the plot (as there tend to be with time-travel based stories), the movie was suitably epic and a lot of fun! I think they could've easily made it into a theatrical movie if they had more time to refine the story and up the animation, but still, the two and a half years they spent working on it really showed. I'd say JG Quintel made the right call in convincing Cartoon Network to make it a tv movie instead of just a 44-minute special, even though he claims he regrets doing it because of how exhausting working on the movie and the show at the same time was.  :D

Speaking of, JG Quintel was actually there at the theater to introduce the film and was in the audience watching it with us, which I wasn't expecting. Even though I saw him yesterday when I went to Cartoon Network panel at the same place, I didn't think he was going to stick around for more than one day, which was pretty dumb of me in retrospect. So I twice missed an opportunity to give him some fan-art or have him sign some Regular Show merch.  :-\ But hey, at least I got to take a picture with him!

Probably the latter if I had to guess. Hamill only did Joker again for Killing Joke. He may be retiring from voice acting. I can't help thinking if the show was canceled somebody else with the show would have said so first.

Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Avaitor on January 19, 2017, 01:06:36 PM
My history with Regular Show is probably pretty well-documented here- I watched the first season or so as it aired, as Adventure Time was giving me hope for CN again, but for whatever reason, I lost interest in both shows and stopped watching early in 2011. But I decided to give both shows, plus their other recent series, another go in 2014 and realized that I was wrong to jump ship so early for no reason.

I do think that RS lost its spark a couple of seasons ago, and I wish that it did more for its female characters (The Seer is right- they should have given Eileen a bigger role), but at the end of the day, I'll always remember Regular Show as a fun series that had a lot of creative moments, but allowed its characters to feel real and likable. I enjoyed being with their company, even as certain points dragged, which I can't say about other series that I may ultimately like more at their ends, like Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff, and maybe even AT.

The last few episodes may have been a little too meta, but it's fair for the show, which has always walked that line. The actual ending was sweet, though, enough for me to happy with its end. Good show.

Title: Re: Regular Show
Post by: Avaitor on May 17, 2017, 03:46:13 PM
It's interesting that he's doing this for TBS. It's like saying that this is a little too mature for CN, but isn't edgy enough for [adult swim]. The Venture Brothers and Rick and Morty prove that you can make smart comedies at Williams Street, but even those have a lot of dick, fart and rape jokes. It seems like this is aiming for more of a Simpsons/KOTH/Bob's Burgers crowd, which sounds cool.

This also seems like a good compliment to Regular Show, so I'm down. I do think that the relationship aspects of RS were the weakest part of the show, but I'll give Quintel the benefit of the doubt.
Title: Re: Regular Show

Quintel's humor always skewed pretty adult, so I think the tone of a TBS-style sitcom will be a perfect outlet to express his sensibilities without as much restriction. I'm looking forward to it!
