I've talked about this before on here, and got a couple of you guys to send me your lists, but we should probably have a thread for it, as well.
The basics are posted here (http://unofficialcartoonnetwork.tumblr.com/post/95887539741/cartoon-network-hall-of-fame-year-1-election-phase), but the tl;dr version of what I hope from you guys is
- To send me a list of which 10 Cartoon Network series you think is worthy of making its way into a potential Hall of Fame, celebrating the network's massive library, from originals to classics to anime and back. The 5 series with the most votes will make their way in.
- Basically, if you has aired on CN proper, it qualifies. That does include Space Ghost.
- Your #10 choice will be worth ten points, as will your #9 will be worth 9, and so on. It's easier for me to read and rank them this way.
- The deadline for lists to be received or edited is October 1st. At that point in time, I intend to announce the shows that make it in this year!
I'll probably also use this thread to announce the winners, but please feel free to consider voting if you already haven't! Also, feel free to either post your lists here or message me them.
Hey guys, if you still want to contribute your lists, you have one week to do so!
Nominations will be closed on midnight, and I'll reveal the results around noon tomorrow. Feel free to send a list in quickly if you haven't, or guess the series that will make it in until then!
Here are this year's inductees. (http://unofficialcartoonnetwork.tumblr.com/post/98894876957/cartoon-network-hall-of-fame-year-one-induction)
tl;dr version-
- Looney Tunes
- MGM's library
- Dexter's Laboratory
- The Powerpuff Girls
- Ed, Edd n' Eddy
Thanks for playing!
I approve of this list!
Too bad that TBATB couldn't make it, though, or any DCAU show for that matter, but there's always next year (assuming that you still do this next year ;)).
Excellent inductees for the first year! All five are some of the most iconic and influential series the network has aired over the years. You're write-ups for how each impacted the network and what's great about them are spot-on as well.
Good choices. Can't complain. 8-)
I told you guys before that Brave & the Bold was pretty close to making it in, but at the last minute, a couple of series surpassed it. Dexter was a last-minute addition, and I actually wrote another entry for something else that nearly made it in instead.
I could've probably put that sixth entry in this year, anyway, since it was only one point below Dexter. But nah, we'll see how it goes next year.
Although would you guys rather I bring voting back for one new addition every six months, or two additions each year? I'll have you guys only send in lists with 5 entries either way, but I could go with either option. I think I prefer making this an annual event, though.
I think keeping this annual is a better idea, myself.
Being annual seems to make it more meaningful.
i like all the series so i am not mad at myself for not voting.
Just a reminder that I'm starting up voting for the second batch of inductees in 3 weeks!
Remember that this year, I'm only asking for your top 5 series to make it into the Hall, for the 2 or 3 highest voted to make it in. Now would be a good time for you to think of which series you'd like to see make it in the most.
Well, it's officially the first of September on the east coast, so you know what that means!
I'll keep my criteria post here brief, since I need to do the same for tumblr and tz, and I believe that you guys recall it anyway- you can vote for 5 series this year, and rank them from 5 to 1 in how many number of votes you want them to receive. Last year's winners are exempt, since they're already here; so Warner, MGM, Dex, PPG, and Eds don't need your votes. As long as it has aired on Cartoon Network proper, it's good to make it into the Hall. You have until October 1, a month from now, to vote, and you can post your lists here or message them to me when you can.
Let's make this another good year!
Just to make sure - Tom & Jerry has already been inducted through that MGM banner pick, right?
Will do.
I doubt my #1 is all too mysterious.

Right.
Gotcha. I admit that was kind of a dumb question, since I could've just checked last year's HOF write-ups on your tumblr to find the answer.

.............Aviator has a tumblr?
Three. A personal, a CN-themed blog, and a Disney blog. The middle one is by far my most popular.
By personal, I assume you mean a Demi Lovato shrine.

Ha, nobody talks about her anymore.
It's more of a Julianna Margulies shrine, nowadays.

Bump, since we have 2 weeks left to vote.
I will say that I'm very happy with the series that are topping my rankings so far, though.
My votes for this year:
1. Yu Yu Hakusho
2. Batman: The Brave and the Bold
3. Megas XLR
4. Batman: The Animated Series
5. Dragon Ball
Quote from: Dr. Ensatsu-ken on September 18, 2015, 08:00:27 PM2. Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Outrageous!
I'm glad someone else voted for this.
Meh, my slot went to Hamtaro!

4. Batman: The Animated Series
5. Dragon Ball
Is YYH your top choice?
Is water wet?
Is Ninja Gaiden Black my favorite game of all time?
Is Donald Trump an egotistical spoiled hack douche-bag who doesn't know the first thing about common national issues?
Do we still live on planet Earth?
Or the shorter version of my response is, yes. :D
I ask because you arranged your list incorrectly for me. YYH should be #5, TB&TB #4, and so on.
What can I say, it's easier for me to read these that way. :p
Your strange rules anger and confuse me.
But sure, which not?
5. YYH
4. BTBATB
3. MXLR
2. BTAS
1. DB
I already put your list in anyway. I just wanted to mess with you. :P
It's a good thing that I know you, though, so I'm aware of your likely choices. Other people who send me their lists might not be as lucky.
Haha, yeah, my favorites are pretty obvious by now since I never shut up about them. :P

Meh, my slot went to Hamtaro!
Ah man, I totally should've nominated that just for nostalgia's sake. :D
:D Welcome back!
Thanks. :)
Though, you can probably expect me to be absent on weekdays for a long while to come. My schedule's become pretty busy nowadays.
Better to have a full plate than an empty one. I think that's the saying. :-X
Okay, I'm ready to close this off, and call the second Hall of Fame nominations a success. I'll post the inductees tomorrow.
I will say that this year's selections showed more variety than the previous year, which consisted of arguably the two best and most important animation studios from the golden age's collected works, and the network's first 3 mega hits and what might be their most iconic series.
The three series that have received the most votes, from here, tumblr, and tz, are more varied. I'll say that I'm happy with the results.
This year's inductees. (http://unofficialcartoonnetwork.tumblr.com/post/130276608921/cartoon-network-hall-of-fame-year-two-induction)
I highly agree with all three series.
Very good picks this year.
I love the new inductees! I'm surprised the first one made it due to the lukewarm reception it receives here. :>
Nice! It's great to see those series spotlighted as among CN's finest shows.
Hey guys, guess what time of year it is! :>
You know the drill- five series, rank them with 5 as the highest and 1 as the lowest, don't nominate what's already won (Looneys, MGM, Flintstones, Dex, PPG, Eds, Courage, TBATB), either post your lists here or PM me, and you have until the end of the month to vote.
Good luck (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uKIeamPi2Y)
I think I'll have to think over what to nominate this year.
I totally forgot Batman The Brave And The Bold won. It was going to be my first choice.
1. Outlaw Star
2. Samurai Jack
3. Batman Beyond
4. Regular Show
5. Yu yu Hakusho
I thought Adult Swim shows didn't count?
Anyways, I took part in this on Toonzone last year, but I'll put my votes here this year. Not sure if you're doing it on TZ this year anyway.
I've got some ideas, but I'll have to think about it. I don't even remember what I said last year. ;D

They don't. GSF will have to edit his list.
pssst he forgot Samurai JackQuote from: Dreamer2 on September 01, 2016, 06:52:57 PM

I'm about to post it right now, in fact! I had to wait for Lum to do me a favor and post it on tumblr first, though.
Alright here's my list-
5. Johnny Bravo
4. Justice League/JLU
3. Steven Universe
2. Dragon Ball Z
1. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?
Interesting to see how this goes since except for Batman TAS, all the definitive shows are all in the Hall of Fame.
So far, the votes I've received skew to more recent series, and is very CN originals-heavy. Johnny is the oldest and biggest shoe-in so far, however, which is good, since it's time for him to get in.

2. Samurai Jack
3. Batman Beyond
4. Regular Show
5. Hunter X Hunter
All you gotta do is swap out HXH for something else, and you're good!
Also, do you want Outlaw Star to be your highest vote, or lowest?
...DAMMIT! And Outlaw Star is the lowest. I did do that part right :D

So, YYH went from not being on your list to being at the very top. Talk about a big leap.;D
..I somehow forgot about it. I think I assumed it already made it or something.
I should probably have enough votes for my induction to be a success, but there's still plenty of time for you to send one in if you need to!
Reminder that I'm wrapping up the voting for this on Friday!
I'm really hoping that one or two more people send me lists before midnight, either on tz or tumblr, since I'm not sure if anyone else is missing a list here.
Otherwise, I'll have a tie for third place, which might mean that I'll have to cancel them out and only have two inductions this year.
Here are year three's inductions! (http://unofficialcartoonnetwork.tumblr.com/post/151209370106/cartoon-network-hall-of-fame-year-three-induction)
Reading about Johnny made me really want to go back and watch it. Such a good show. Both of the choices were on my list, so that's pretty good.
Just wondering, but what were the two shows that were tied for third place?
Good picks! SU might be a little recent, but both series are definitely Hall-of-Fame-worthy in terms of their popularity and influence on the network.

Just wondering, but what were the two shows that were tied for third place?
Adventure Time and Regular Show. Both would be worthy additions, but I think they should have a good chance of making it in next year instead.
And they shouldn't be the only ones- in light of CN's 25th anniversary, I'll be bumping up next year's inductions to 5, just as I did with the first ceremony.
So I don't have access to the blog the Hall was made for anymore, and my new blog isn't nearly as popular. Additionally, I got less votes last year than I did the previous.
That said, should I bring the HOF back this year?
Give it a go.
