I guess they want to hype up the recent Blue Exorcist season when they air it, though I'd say it's a lost cause when the first season was 13 years ago, and the second was 7. They know when the current season's over, they're gonna have to wait until maybe 2030 for the next one, right? I guess I should be impressed for any fans that they've waited this long for content, but to what end?

Personally, I never saw the appeal. It felt too derivative of other shonen with nothing else to show for it, and the episodes I saw were kinda boring. Same with Mashle, though I think the opening theme is pretty good.

On another note, I got bored and watched a little of that NYCC Daima panel yesterday, and it's crazy how much it pandered to old Toonami/ASA nostalgia by making a big deal about Stephanie Nadolny being back, and going "Hey, we've got the voice of Alphonse Elric and Senku Ishigami as our co-lead!", yet Toonami itself really had no presence there at all. And this happening in the light of Uzumaki being a bust, it all felt like a huge symbolic defeat for the brand by losing Dragonball around the same time their passion project flopped. Leaves you wondering just what Toonami's MO is at the moment besides "Not die". Because 20 years ago, the mission was easy to explain: Introduce a bunch of formative shonen anime to the 8-13 demographic who just finished school and come home in the hopes of finding something cool on CN. But that hasn't been the agenda for the block in quite some time, and as time goes on and more people are legally watching anime through Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, etc, you're left to wonder what the point is besides giving the older Toonami/ASA fans who haven't left yet a weekly routine.

Yeah, and while I get who the main demographic for these channels are as soon as the ads play, so many Humana/Camp Lejeune/Post-Retirement Life Insurance/Social Security Benefits commercials, it's still better than whatever the main local channels have to offer. I can't imagine only having Fox/ABC/CBS/NBC/CW for entertainment, because it's just news, news, a talk show, news, an informercial, news, maybe a rerun of The Goldbergs, news, then a couple hours of primetime shows from TV creators who haven't moved onto doing a streaming show, then news, then a talk show, and so on. It's so much worse than back in the day when either a cartoon afternoon block, or some first-run syndication genre show would shake up the pattern a little. I don't even see Simpsons reruns on Fox weeknights anymore. It's just that barren over there.

I think that's why Billy Mays was a meme back in the 00s, because for whole generations of kids at the time, local TV was just a ghost town, so it was either watching Oxy Clean infomercials or, you know, the news.

It still feels like a race for which site can be worse and filled with judgmental schizos who forgot how to behave like a normal person a long time ago. Like before I got banned, I saw replies on someone's tweet going "You better think twice before you mock someone for liking lolis." And I know it's just drawings, but it's still weird to see anyone be smug and high-and-mighty about it without a sense of shame. You don't see those scat or diaper roleplay enthusiasts act sanctimonious about their fetish.

But Bluesky's also the place where that mentally unstable "If you write fanfic, you're supporting genocide!" asshole voluntarily went to, the one everyone praises for her "Everyone is Beautiful, but No One is Horny" article but is violently insane about every other take, so it's hard to really see that as the better place. Maybe it'll be the more stable place when Elon's degenerative brain rots even more, and I know a lot of this is rationalizing my own laziness, but it's still annoying regardless.

I guess the problem is that social media at large is filled with crazy, rude people who openly shit where they eat. The kind who shit on McDonalds workers as a whole but then don't have a real job themselves, but all online and in droves. And I know many of us are guilty of it, I am too, but it's still weird to see online instead of anything resembling basic humility.

Blue Exorcist (season 1 rebroadcast or one of the newer seasons?) airs on the second, and Mashle on the 9th.

I wasn't really keeping up with Toonami when Blue Exorcist first aired and I don't know anything about Mashle, but at this point I'm willing to give both a shot, no questions asked. Better more shonen slop than more half-assed originals.

Edit: looks like it's just S1 of Blue Exorcist for now. Weird to put it at a near-prime slot for a decade-old repeat.

I agree, we overestimate how many people have access to high-speed internet and still rely on TV or physical media for their entertainment. MeTV and its offsprings/clones offer a useful service.

Bluesky is where the terminally online losers dwell, the ones who thought that tumblr was too cringe but are just as willing to cancel someone for thinking it's okay to put ketchup on your eggs.

As awful as Twitter has become, it's somehow less insufferable than over there.

Also saw a lot of artists annoyed that the AI that scrapes everyone's tweets for data is gonna be mandatory soon instead of optional. Hoping a few of the high-profile ones sue for copyright infringement.

Funniest part is despite everything, I still haven't bit the bullet and gotten a Bluesky account. I might eventually if the appeals don't work, but I don't know. It kinda feels like how even when Windows has been shitting the bed lately, I'm too lazy to get on board with Linux.

I'm waiting to see him get slapped by Google/Apple App stores for screwing around with the whole concept of blocking people. I've seen enough people raise some valid concerns over how dumb the new block system is (IE, getting rid of stalkers, getting rid of underage users if you dabble in 18+ content, etc).

Elon flushed Twitter down the toilet once he took over.
Let's see what he's doing with the company now...

Also, the new privacy policy will use your posts to train AI.

You know, it's a cool thing all those retro channels like MeTV, Comet, Dabl, Cozi all exist. Not just for the "Here's some old TV shows!" factor, but they provide a public service for anybody who doesn't have cable or internet. Because without them, what is there to watch on local TV? Just the news, Maury, the same reruns of sitcoms you've already watched a hundred times, or you might get lucky and have a cool PBS affiliate that airs British imports?
