Great!

Although I really do need to catch the last batch + the new Tom and Jerry shorts.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Sir, do you have any Warrants?
I got their first CD, but you can't have it, motherfucker!

They only made two Tom & Jerry shorts. You can be done with those in no time.

Production has concluded on the series.

Season 5 begins April 6.

Fucking FINALLY! It's been way too long. It's also nice to see SOMETHING on HBO Max after it became a practical ghost town last year.

So I finally, FINALLY watched the entirety of these shorts. I saw the first batch as they aired, but left the series on the backburner after the Christmas special where Daffy and Porky crossed the picket line for Santa's elves. I enjoyed what I saw, but I just never prioritized these things, so I've been going back and forth over the past few months.

I understand why people grew tired of these as the segments rolled out, it seems like a lot of the best shorts were released early on. At least for the major characters, as later bits with the Three Bears, Pussyfoot, and Sam and Ralph were pretty delightful. But the Daffy and Porky shorts especially became tedious. I get that this crew preferred Avery and Clampett's original, wackier Daffy to the greedy, self-centered version that Jones later immortalized, which is why we never saw him interact with Bugs, but there's no reason we couldn't have both. Or maybe even have Daffy interact differently with Bugs, maybe something closer to how he was on The Looney Tunes Short. I did enjoy the few times Daffy interacted with Elmer instead, or the even rarer occasions that he had someone new to bounce off on.

That said, "Daffy in Wackyland" was excellent. I'm glad they saved that for last, it's a lovely way to cap this era off. Or at least before we get to The Day the Earth Blew Up.
