Fire Emblem, other SRPGs welcomed

The game for gentlemen and scholars, Fire Emblem is Intelligent Systems long running SRPG series starting with the first NES entry in the 1990s and with the series continuing onto the various Nintendo systems. Fire Emblem features army building through recruitment and class systems, bonds that can result in battlefield bonuses and potentially different endings, political warfare and intrigue, dragons, permanent character death and some pretty heavy themes for a Nintendo game.

I assume not everyone here has played Fire Emblem, but I'm willing to bet you've probably tried a similar game, be it Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tear Ring Saga, Tactics Ogre, or just about anything with Tactics in the title. They are all welcomed here, because SRPGs owe a lot to Fire Emblem.

I'm already pretty hyped for the 3DS game. The last game we got is underwhelming in all aspects, and its sequel sounds like more of the same, so I'm hoping this one goes back to what made the GBA/GCN/Wii games great. I don't know how co-op will work, but any multiplayer that isn't Arena Battle has to be a step up. The art direction is drastically different from just about every other entry, with the main characters looking straight out of the Valkyria Chronicles series instead. I'm willing to overlook that if the localization is as snappy as the GBA ones were. Those still remain my favorite entries. I think I was in the middle of another Sacred Stones replay before my classes started too, I need to get back to that one. It's short length and variety of prepromoted unit make it one of the best choices for replay value.

I've been trying to play that series.

My favorites SRPGs are the first two Shining Forces. And well, they're the only ones I've beaten but they're a lot of fun. I want to replay the first to get all the secret characters.
