So after watching an episode of the Rick and Morty anime, why did AS make a cheap, non-union bootleg of their own show?

I haven't watched the anime yet, but I have heard nothing good about it. Is it really that bad?

I'm not even exaggerating on the "bootleg" aspect. It looked like if those Dingo Pictures guys made a Rick and Morty knockoff. Someone I follow on Twitter thought the shitty production values and recasting everyone with Sentai actors was supposed to be an ironic joke. It's like DeMarco really wanted Yuasa but was too cheap to get him, so he hired some random director and told him to do an impression of Yuasa.

The director of this series also did Tower of God and Lupin III, so he clearly CAN do better than harping the Shin-Chan art style and applying it to R&M.

I was never interested in this anime to begin with, and now that it's being ripped to shreds by fans and critics alike, I don't intend to watch it anyway.
