They've been removed before, just FYI. I don't know why they keep getting taken down, but that's why I got them all ASAP when they went up. It must be an issue with Rare and licensing.

Also I'm still hoping for the GBA version of 3 to comes to the 3DS eventually.

Yeah, the whole thing is just a mess. They even apologize for it in the DS article.

Also, I'm sorry, I just can't classify TP as a Gamecube game. I know that it was originally made for the console and did in fact come out for it, but it was a Wii launch title, and I still believe that more people played it there than on the cube.
TP is a clear GC game. The only thing they changed in the Wii port is the controls.

And people are still bitching because DK 64 never got a rerelease.  I personally hope that game never sees the light of day again.

And DKC 3 is better than DKC 1.  Just thought I'd reiterate that.

That game would need a lot of reworking to get released. I don't think Nintendo is interested in doing that, since they've turned pretty sour on it over the years.

But I agree, I do prefer DKC3 to 1 most of the time. Though I like the OST in 1 better than SNES 3.

A break from previous discussion...

So I hope all you guys who wanted the Donkey Kong Country games on the Virtual Console have purchased them, because as of today Nintendo has removed them from the service.

I only had DKC 2 downloaded :-\. Had I known I would've bought the other two.
Aww, damn! I only had the first one.

Avaitor

Oh, I might be able to talk to the guy at the flea market to sell me the first 2 DKC's for $30 together. I might even trade in my DVD of Peter Pan and have to pay even less.

I still need to find the first DKC boxed, it's the only one of the original trilogy I don't have boxed.  And I also have all three of the GBA games with boxes, plus the GBC port of DKC boxed.

I see MK64 on so many "best of" lists, and it never ceases to completely blow me away how overrated this game is.

It was never that good, even before Diddy Kong Racing completely outclassed it in ever facet imaginable. Hell, I'd even go as far to say that the Disney kart racer (Mickey's Speedway something or other; can't remember the exact name off hand) on the N64 was better.

It's amazing how quickly Rare began to lose their way, even back during the N64 days.

Banjo-Kazooie was the perfect 3D platformer... and they follow that up a year later with possibly the most bloated video game of all time. What happened? Granted, Tooie and BFD were still in the cards, but you know what I mean.

LittleBigPlanet Karting is a better kart racer than MK64.

Shit, try and say that with a straight face.  Seriously, LittleBigPlanet?  Karting?!  Sony?

Oh, and Tooie sucks as much or worse than DK64, blah blah blah.

I can get some enjoyment out of Tooie... at least until you get to Grunty Industries. Fuck that level and all that it stands for.

If nothing else, at least the humor still holds up (no Monkey Rap plz).

Avaitor

The guy at the flea market that has the first 2 DKCs also has a copy of Banjo-Tooie.

Part of me really wants to play it again, but another part doesn't want my childhood memories to be ruined. So I might just compromise and wait until I can find a copy of it from a thrift store owned by people that don't understand the second-hand cost of older games and sell it for dirt cheap, like when I got to play Kazooie again.

I would've given you my copy had I known, but alas it got traded in months ago, coincidentally along with DK 64.  Can't remember what games I traded them for, but I'm sure they were better than those games.

I couldn't bear myself enough to get rid of Kazooie though, despite having it on my Xbox.

Kart racers better than Mario Kart 64:

Super Mario Kart
Mickey Speedway USA
Diddy Kong Racing
Crash Team Racing
Mario Kart Super Circuit
Konami Krazy Racers
Mario Kart Double Dash
Sonic & Sega All Star Racing
Mario Kart Wii
Mario Kart DS
Modnation Racers
Littlebigplanet Karting
Mario Kart 7
Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed

Those are just a small handful. Seriously, when people say MK64 is the best kart racer I have to wonder if they've ever actually played another one.

Wait, is LBP Karting actually good? Because you know I'm kind of writing it off based on its name/ip, but I guess if you can't judge a book by its cover...
