Favorite Games Ever (Besides Ninja Gaiden, Obviously)

The back end of this list actually surprised me. They have a lot of older stuff on here from long-established franchises that have since greatly surpassed the games they've chosen as "best of the best" (Zelda, Donkey Kong... hell, even Tetris and Asteroids are strange picks, when you think about it). Not quite sure what to make of it, really.

It could have been so much worse, though. They could've just thrown stuff like Uncharted and Black Ops (and Madden!) into the top few slots, and called it a day. I'm actually kinda impressed they didn't, tbh.

18. Ms. Pac-Man

This is like that guy that makes a best album of all time list and throws in a random Rolling Stones album because "the Stones have to be there, man!" When all told, Rolling Stones albums are not THAT good when stacked up to other groups. This is EXTRAORDINARILY way too high.

17. Starcraft

16. Half-Life

Wow, Over CoD!

15. Donkey Kong

This is a top 100 game, yes. But top 15? I don't see it.

14. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Siiiiigh.

13. Portal

The sequel did EVERYTHING better. And this is not a top 100 game, I'm sorry. It's not replayable like the L4D games nor as engrossing and expansive as the Half Life games. Most people who have praised this game have played it only once.

12. Doom II

This should have been obvious, but I was nervous.

11. Ocarina of Time

They actually put SOTC over OoT?... I just... What?

10. World of Warcraft

This is a game list, not a list of prescription drugs.

9. Shadow of the Colossus

.............. Ignoring the fact that this is 200 places too high, in what universe is a game that has deep fundamental issues that cripple game play make it the "best ever"?

8. Goldeneye

Goldeneye is a good game, I agree. But, Goldeneye is not the best N64 game of all time, Goldeneye is not the best FPS of all time, and Goldeneye's spiritual sequel blows it out of the water and even has a more modern version out now. Goldeneye does not belong here.

7. Super Mario Bros. 3

It says something when even though this is my favorite game of all time, I can understand games ranking above it on a list like this. None of the games above this are even in the same league as SMB3 except ALTTP and Tetris.

6. The Legend of Zelda (NES)

Huh?  This I could see on here, but again.. this not top ten good.

5. Tetris

It's still one of the best puzzle games ever, so yeah.

4. Asteroids

No Super Mario World, Sonic The Hedgehog (ANY of the pre-Sonic Heroes ones), Yoshi's Island, R-Type, Earthbound, Shinobi, Jet Set Radio, Contra III, Mega Man X, Terranigma, Metroid Prime, Devil May Cry (Or ANY Kamiya games including RE2), Metal Slug 3 or X, or Super Mario Galaxy games... But you remembered to put Asteroids on it.

Next time get someone who actually PLAYED arcade games to vote on arcade games.

3. Bioshock

This is cracked out warped. I even like this game, but it is not the third best game ever made, nor is it even the best game THIS GEN. This is reaching.

This is the one game on the whole list that might be ranked where it deserves to be ranked.

1. Super Mario Bros.

There isn't a single person on this planet who would put SMB1 over ANY other Nintendo-made console 2D platformer in the series that came later (Lost Levels aside)... Assuming they actually played them. This is not the best game of all time. It's not even the best game in the series.

This list did not have much of any thought put into it.

And it's well deserved, but all 4 classic games (that includes CD) deserved ranking. They just shunted them out so they could slip arcade games they've never played and overrated modern games they've played once on it.

They have arcade games on here but no Final Fight,Sunset Riders, or HOTD?

Because ART.

Streets Of Rage 2 is art. Its gameplay is art. It is the definition of those that argue games are art. Its not on the list.

They could have made it less obvious. Just ask anyone who has stepped into an arcade what the best arcade games of all time are and you would see Time Crisis 2, Mark Of The Wolves, or one of Sega's many great light gun games, mentioned quite a bit. Again, none are on here, but freaking Asteroids and Space Invaders are.

1 also had quite a few years headstart in sales and 3 came out right before Nintendo's new system. And building on from that even though SMW was a pack-in, it also never surpassed SMB1's sales.

Heck, Galaxy 2 hasn't outsold 1 either, and most agree it's the better game.

But this logic also gets blown out when OoT (which is the best selling Zelda game) is outranked on here by two other entries. This list is randomly put together without much care at all.

It's pretty much catered to the "hardcore casual" crowd. People who play games like Mario and Street Fighter and the like, but the only real old-school titles they're familiar with are the ones most of the mainstream know (Asteroid's, Space Invaders) instead of the ones most hardcore's would know (Mark of the Wolves, HOTD).

God, no Max Payne, Devil May Cry and did Sonic 2 make the list?

And of course Einhander got ignored. Exvept for graphics, that game is timeless and the best PS1 game imo.
