It's no secret that I don't particularly care for Nintendo, but for me to say that I didn't enjoy Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask, I'd be lying to myself. Even though I know it'll never happen, I've always wanted a 3d Zelda on the playstation just to get that big adventure experience without having to waste money on a console just for 1 game.

Anyway, same games for the most part, but this time I tried to keep it 1 game per series.

Well, that's my favorite list of yours so far, mostly because you finally put Ninja Gaiden on it.

That is a cool list! Since you like Shenmue so much, you should try the Yakuza series sometime. Fans of the former tend to think of the latter as a spiritual successor.

I've played a bit of Yakuza 3, and for the most part I did enjoy what little bit I played of it (I'd definitely take it over any GTA/SR title any day of the week), but it was pretty hard for the game to keep me interested. I may give Yakuza 4 a shot though.

Square Enix is doing right by PC gamers. Existing owners of Deus Ex HR get the Director's Cut upgrade and all DLC for $10, while owners of the base game and Missing Link DLC get the upgrade and other DLCs for only $5. Good on them! http://www.vg247.com/2013/10/13/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-available-as-cheap-upgrade-to-pc-version/

Why the fuck is Sega STILL pushing this shit? It's on nearly every console at this point. Are they trying to be ironic?

Spark Of Spirit

It's achieved that "nostalgic classic" class that people love and buy despite not actually thinking its good. Part of it was because it was an arcade conversion that was so close to the arcade version, but it was never very good.

Personally, I would rather have had OutRun, Ristar, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, or even Golden Axe. I have no idea why people like Altered Beast so much other than nostalgia for it.

Amen. At least the rest of the games are awesome.

Commode

Rumors flying of a new Parappa game for PS4/Vita.  Really hope this pans out.

I already sold my Vita to one of my friends(he was using it more than I ever was), but this is something that makes me actually want to buy a PS4.  Not now, but in a year or two whenever the game actually surfaces.
It doesn't matter what you say, soon you'll be dead anyway.

So, same idea as in the movie thread:

1989: Ninja Gaiden (NES)
1990: Super Mario World
1991: Super Castlevania IV
1992: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
1993: Rocket Knight Adventures/Mega Man X (Tie)
1994: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
1995: Yoshi's Island (Runner-Up: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest)
1996: Super Mario 64
1997: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night/Star Fox 64 (Tie)
1998: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
1999: Soulcalibur
2000: Power Stone 2/WWF: No Mercy (Tie)
2001: Max Payne/The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons (Tie)
2002: Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast (Runner-Up: Jet Set Radio Future/Soulcalibur II)
2003: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic/The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Tie)
2004: Ninja Gaiden (Runner-Up: Half-Life 2)
2005: Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening/Resident Evil 4/F.E.A.R. (Tie)
2006: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
2007: BioShock
2008: Ninja Gaiden II
2009: Street Fighter IV
2010: Halo: Reach

I'm still very undecided on what my favorite games from the last 3 years are, because quite frankly I haven't played enough of them. As I'm sure you all know, I'm WAY behind on last gen's stuff.

Your list gave me a little flash back. Man, 1996 was a slow year for gaming. I was still 16-bitting it up.

Yeah, to be honest, I was struggling to think of any other games from 1996 that I really liked. Conversely, I realized that 2001, 2004, and 2005 were awesome years for games. It was so hard to have to leave out so many other great games from those years.
