What would you guys pick as the 10 best SNES games?
Ten games from the best system ever made? I would be leaving off classics no matter what I did.

1. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

3. Mega Man X
4. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
5. Kirby Super Star
6. Earthbound
7. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
8. Super Metroid
9. Super Mario World
10. Secret of Mana

For a bonus, Genesis games:

1. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
2. Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
3. Streets of Rage 2
4. Monster World IV
5. Rocket Knight Adventures
6. Gunstar Heroes
7. Ristar

I have fond memories of playing Super Mario RPG as a child. But when I revisited it 3-4 years ago, I don't know. I feel like it doesn't hold up very well. The isometric perspective is really awkward considering they tried making this game part platformer, thus that viewpoint caused problems for me a lot. I also think the combat is a bit too unbalanced and easy to exploit, the pacing isn't great, and the characters aren't memorable aside from Booster. Geno has developed a cult following, but do people remember anything about him beyond an admittedly fairly cool design?

The music is awesome, though. I'll give it that. I just think the game, while still pretty fine, as a whole feels a bit undercooked and was beaten quickly by Paper Mario.

My list is, like, the exact same as yours, except I'd replace Star Fox and Mario Kart with Super Mario RPG and Front Mission. And I'd probably put Super Metroid at #1.

I could have put them in any order, honestly.

Of course as Foggle pointed out, there are still a lot of games missing.

The SNES has tons of good games, it's just that there are 15 or so that are generally considered to be the best of the best. :D

Do any of you guys have any favorite video game characters?

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

That depends. There aren't too many interesting or nuanced characters in most of the types of games that I tend to play, but if we're talking just in terms of what characters I feel are the most fun to play as, I'd have way too many to name, though hack n' slash protagonists like Ryu Hayabusa and Dante would probably top my list.

proto man
mega man
link
dante
ken masters
yun
alys
porky minch
johnny cage!
rune walsh
sonic

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

Yeah, I would probably consider Max to be my favorite from an actual character standpoint.

gunswordfist

it's either max, proto man or alys for me. i wanted to separate the well written characters with the silent/mascot ones. funny enough, proto is both, imho.
