Enough said

I figured they should have their own thread. Because, why not?

Valve makes quality games. I'll be the first one to say that in my honest opinion, there games aren't really that great in my eyes in terms of being at the top of their genre (I always find something boring or lacking that kind of holds back all of the more brilliant aspects of their games), but I still highly respect them as a development team and they are some of the most creative minds in the FPS genre. I think that my favorite game from them is probably L4D2 (to be honest, I couldn't really get into the first one, even when playing with 3 of my friends), which somehow seemed to be the most consistently fun game that they have made. I like Half-Life 2 and its episode sequels, but I feel that its hampered by a bunch of short and boring sequences in-between that certainly make the game longer but in a bad way that drags down its overall quality. Though, to be fair, I do think that Episode 2 manages to avoid most of these issues and is by far the best entry into the "Half-life 2 series" (yeah, with episode sequels to a game that's already a sequel, I sort of count this sequel as its own series, lol).

As for Portal, the first game is brilliant but short. I really do want to play Portal 2, but I'll wait for it to come down in price before I pick it up.

I'm a big fan of the L4D games, as I love me some co-op and the randomized enemies help make every experience different from the last.

Half Life is a story shooter done right, the only issues being that segments tend to last way too long when they wear out their freshness.

Portal is a great exploration game. The first game is mostly a puzzle game, but the second puts more of an emphasis on exploring your environment to survive.

When I get a decent PC, I'll try to get into Team Fortress 2, but I'd probably enjoy that too.

As far as companies that make "first person" games, I think they're the best currently going.

From what I hear, they pretty much are by default

Valve's greatness extends beyond their products; Steam is one of the most awesome platforms in gaming, especially now that they've started doing daily deals. Their seasonal sales are always amazing, cutting prices as much as 90% on occasion. For instance (and this is just a small sample), I got both Max Payne games for $2.33 total, GTA 4 for $5, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for $2.50, and Super Meat Boy for $3. Let's see Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo do THAT!

Valve needs to make a Team Fortress movie. Seriously, this needs to happen.

Meet The Spy is one of the greatest videos ever produced by a game company.

Fuck next gen, I think I'll save up for a gaming PC. I'm missing out on too much. (Also want to be able to play the L4D games I have on my Steam account)

It has to be a laptop, though. Since I don't have any room for something that would be just for me. So it'll probably take me a while to save up for.

But I'm tired of missing out on so much. Even my friends are getting into Team Fortress 2 and I can't because of my shitty computer.

Next gen can wait a long ass time at this point.

Ahh, gaming laptops can be a bit of a bugger price-wise. Whereas a gaming desktop can be nearly as cheap as a console if you know where to look and are able to build it yourself, laptops can get to be a bit much. But, even if you have to play on low, a good gaming laptop will last you at least an entire console gen, if not more.

It isn't even going to be happening for another few years (if Microsoft and Sony are to be believed), anyway.

Spark Of Spirit

Yeah, I know it's a ways off, but I don't plan on getting them for even longer than that. One of the reasons I was holding off on a gaming PC/laptop was because I had it in my head that next gen was going to start any time soon, but then I realized what's the point? Might as well wait for everything to be cheaper with more games out anyway.

I'm not really picky, though. I mean, it doesn't have to run Crysis at max or anything, just enough to be functional. I'm not really much for power, just playability.

Valve is releasing a bunch of their online comics in a physical form later this year.

Sweet, I always wanted The Sacrifice in a physical form.

Also, I found out that my computer can run most Valve games, so I've been enjoying my Team Fortress 2 and my Left 4 Dead 2. I just wished the item drop in TF2 would stop giving me the damn Kunai. I suck as Spy.

Foggle

Heeeeeey, what's your Steam username so I can add you?

I main Spy, and I still find the Kunai to be worthless. Health pickups are easy to come by in most maps and if you have the Cloak and Dagger and know how to use it, you're unlikely to take much damage in the first place.
