I can't wait to see how Korra fans will say "It's not her fault, guys."

Oh no, the Aang movies will be streaming instead of theaters. What a crime!

For real though, while Ellison sucks, I was very confused at the idea of a theatrical sequel to a show that ended 17 years ago ever being successful. Yeah, ATLA's still popular, but we're at a point where even a Spongebob movie struggles at the box office. I can't picture an Aang movie making hundreds of millions of dollars.

I just wish it went to Netflix. Not like I'm expecting the movie to be a K-Pop Demon Hunters hit on there, but I imagine more eyeballs would be watching it on Netflix over Paramount+. Especially after Paramount+ just increased the price of their platform again.

Yeah, I saw the clips, plenty of them. Obviously, I won't say whether or not some of us will watch it early... but we all know and I can't meaningfully judge.

Voices seem really off though. Because I know it's becoming increasingly a hot take over time, but honestly, I don't really mind if white actors voice act as characters of color or if actors of a different race play characters of another race as long as they aren't doing stereotypical accents in cartoons. I would've preferred if they brought back as much of the original cast as possible if this was the alternative. Reminds me of how Kahn sounds like shit in the new KOTH. Because I get wanting to give more roles to other races, since as I mentioned KOTH, there's a black voice actor named Jayden Libran who can do a great Dale impression and they probably should've hired him to replace Hardwick. But for ATLA, it always had plenty of Asians in the production credits. It was never segregated or anything. I'd get it if the production was just 99% white people, but it wasn't by any means. Doesn't help they also recast Zuko and Dante Basco's Asian, so a part of me's like "Okay, what's the real reason for recasting everyone? Because Steven Yeun doesn't sound a thing like Basco." As well as Monk Gyatso even though Sab Shimono's Asian too. Honestly, Aang's actor here sounds whiter than Zach Tyler Eisen lmao.

For no reason at all, I wrote a speculative piece on the new movie. I cannot confirm or deny I watched it. Just that the movie is out there and it is possible but not concrete that someone including me saw it.

Fuck, this movie was great. Where was this when Bryke were making Korra and the comics? Whatever vacation they took in the gap between shows must have done wonders because this film has everything I loved about ATLA and then some. Spectacular animation, fun banter, cool-ass fight scenes, it felt like it was 2008 again watching the Book 3 finale for the first time. Felt like a redemption arc after years of disappointing Avatar tie-in media. And for the Voltron Legendary Defender staff who worked on this and excelled and impressed in ways that they never did on that show. Everyone just locked in and regained their A-game for this. Genuinely, I'm actually kinda disappointed now this won't hit theaters now because it would've been so fucking fun to watch it with an audience and nerd out at everything. I still don't think an ATLA movie would do well in 2026, but a limited screening would still be cool. And Bautista, dude gave a great performance. Aside from Yeun sounding nothing like Basco, I got over the new voices pretty quickly. This feels like a movie where everything they needed to get right they did and then some. It makes me hyped for Seven Havens after months of going "Okay, I guess I'll watch it, whatever". This movie was such a surprising gem. If anything, more people should watch it early. And if you feel bad about watching it through questionable means, just fucking buy some Avatar merch or whatever to cancel it out.

Is what I might say had I seen the film, which I cannot certify at the moment.

The movie drops on Paramount+ on July 25.

Thanks, leaker, for sending the higher-ups into panic mode and making the official release way sooner.

I knew there had to be some tradeoff to the new movie being good.

Between this and sexpest Mike Z being in charge of the new fighting game, my impressions on the series as a whole has soured once again.

Okay, it might be a false alarm. I've seen artists on Avatar Studios say none of them have used AI and they have no clue why the slide mentioned ChatGPT. Replacing Chinese characters with made up "Avatarian" is still stupid though.

Being Korra is suffering. Imagine living for over 200 years and outliving all your loved ones, your partner, your friends.
