If it drops lower than that then maybe I could see it getting canceled, but if 850k-ish will be it's floor then it should get renewed for at least one more season considering season one averaged about the same.

But damn, down to half the audience from the season premiere already? Why the hell are so many people turning away from the show now? Are people really that unwilling to watch the show try something new to keep it fresh?  :whuh:

A lot of people seem to think the writing isn't up to par... which I find confusing, because it all just feels like classic Archer to me. I think folks are trying to find excuses to hate the new direction it's taking.

If the ratings don't improve soon, the show is probably finished. I'll cry if that happens.

Avaitor

They aren't THAT bad, at least not bad enough for the show to end this year. I think at least another season is a done deal.

The show's still doing quite better than Louie, but that's also safe and shouldn't be that cheap to make either.
Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.

Well, I know Louie IS "cheap" to make from what I've heard, at least cheaper to make than Archer. I'm not sure what you mean by "safe," though it's true that with the show's format it's certainly not going to ever try and shake things up like what Archer is doing right now.

Now I feel bad. I've only seen the season premiere. In my case, I've just always been used to it being on Thursday nights, not Monday. I work on Mondays, and I've just been lazy about it.

That could be another reason for the ratings drop, actually; Monday is probably a busy night for a lot of people. And it doesn't help that it was off the air for three weeks due to the Olympics.

By safe, I meant that FX doesn't seem willing to cancel Louie any time soon. In fact ,from what I can gather, it was his decision to take last year off, even though they wanted another season around its usual time.

But maybe Archer should go back to Thursday nights. Monday was kind of a random change, and I know that The Blacklist is a big deal at the same time. The only things that seem to be an issue for Archer on Thursday nights would be Scandal and Elementary, but I don't think that the former's following would overlap with Archer's too much, and the latter is kind of famous for getting big DVR boosts as opposed to its live ratings.

YES!!! Awesome news! I knew FX finally got behind this show wholeheartedly when they put this season on Mondays, but this is great! Can't wait to see what happens when we get to them!

Avaitor

Also, season 4 is FINALLY on Netflix.

About time, too.

Well, I just finished season 1 and liked it for the most part. It's good to see that, despite being a completely selfish and incredibly offensive person, Mallory still cares about Archer as a son....somewhat....kind of/sort of.

Anyways, I'll be starting up season 2 pretty soon, so I'll update my thoughts on the show once I'm finished with that season.

Avaitor

Cool! Season 2 is a major step up from one, where everything starts to click.

I hope you like it!

See, Archer's safe for a while.
Excellent! Also, from what I saw on another site, FX has actually reported a ratings increase for this season, meaning zap2it was wrong. So... I guess we never had anything to worry about.

Tonight's episode was fantastic. Easily the season's best so far.

LumRanmaYasha

Either the reported ratings are wrong or it's the core demographic ratings  that must have gone up even though total viewer ratings are down. That's good to hear. The new season order allows the show to meet the syndication limit. I don't know whether FX plans to renew past that, but that's still a great number of episodes left to enjoy.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

Im about 4 episodes into season 2, and the show really seems to have found its footing and is just on the verge of hitting its stride. The funny thing is that I can't quite place my finger on what the improvement is, yet, but every single episode from this season has ranged from good to balls-out-hilarious, so far.
