One of the few companies keeping creativity and fun alive in console games this gen! MadWorld is the single best usage of the Wii's motion controls EVER, Bayonetta is one of the all-time greatest hack 'n slash games, and Vanquish took the third-person shooter genre to amazing heights not seen since the original Max Payne. I haven't played Infinite Space (though I definitely plan to), but it looks like one of the DS' best and most original games.

But let's talk about their upcoming game, Anarchy Reigns (Max Anarchy in Japan). It's a 3D beat 'em up in the style of God Hand, and features characters from and an OST similar to MadWorld. It sports online multiplayer (no word on split-screen or LAN yet, but here's hoping!) and a ton of diverse playable characters, as well as an "extensive" single-player campaign starring Jack from MadWorld and a newcomer named Leo.

Here's the E3 trailer. Everything about it is awesome.
Here's a video from PG's website featuring roughly 5 minutes of gameplay and some Q&A stuff. Looks really fun! Special appearance by Kamiya at the end.
More gameplay.
More gameplay (2).

It's coming out on PS3 and Xbox 360 in January of next year. Or maybe this fall; the E3 trailer and Platinum's website contradict each other. Anyone else pumped? I know most people here would probably get it on Xbox, but I don't have Live (and don't plan on buying it, either), so it's PS3 for me. Hooray for free online multiplayer!

I feel bad about never buying MadWorld.

I did buy Bayonetta though and loved it, even though I really suck at it. I should got back and beat it one of these days.

It's, like, $10 new at GameStop now. I suggest picking it up, especially since you like No More Heroes.

I am enjoying the crazy ride that is Bayonetta so far. I really want to get Vanquish. The demo alone shows that it breaths new life into cover shooters and shows that the genre doesn't have to be slow. I love the arcadey feel. Reminds me of Dreamcast games

I've never actually gotten to play any of PG's games aside from Bayonetta since they were always released on systems that I didn't own. Bayonetta is really awesome, though. It takes the DMC formula and pretty much perfects it.

Vanquish is also on Xbox, and is definitely worth playing. Check out the demo, it's great!

Yep, I have the Vanquish demo and Bayonetta. Good times.

I love how some of Bayonetta levels go into crazy angles. It will be the closest I'll get to playing Super Mario Galaxy  :happytime:

I'd like to throw an extension on this for their Clover output as well. Viewtiful Joe is one of the best games of all time, and Kamiya's best.

My only disappointment has been that despite their relationship with Sega, they haven't had them work on a classic IP yet. Seeing a Shinobi game with Kamiya at the head would be glorious.

I like Viewtiful Joe, but I'm TERRIBLE at it, so it doesn't get as much love from me as DMC or Bayonetta. :( God Hand was Clover's best, IMO, but all their games were great.

A Shinobi reboot or sequel by Platinum would be fucking awesome. Someone needs to make that happen, and now. I would probably have a heart attack if they ever made a Yakuza spin-off.

Did you try it on Kids mode? It's a hell of a lot more forgiving for beginners despite still being pretty challenging. They probably shouldn't have called it Kids difficulty, because I don't think Kids would make it past the second level. The best part about Viewtiful Joe is the level design. Despite being 2D, you go EVERYWHERE. It feels like a true adventure. The delicious combat system of dodging and reversing, and the occasional platforming section is just as brilliant.

Honestly though, it needed an easier difficulty as the base difficulty.

I think it could have been the beat em up version of Mega Man if only they added non-linear level selection and the chance to replay levels for power ups.

I heard Kids mode doesn't contain the whole game, which is the reason I never tried it. Is that true? :whuh:

I'm pretty sure the only difference is that some cutscenes are shorter in Kids. Though nothing story related is cut out.

As for the PS2 difficulty modes, I have no idea. I have the Gamecube version.

Sweet! I'd love to hear your thoughts! I was pretty amazed once I figured out how to play the game beyond button mashing.

I never beat Viewtiful Joe because I sucked at it (and I think I was doing it on Kids difficulty). Maybe one of these days I'll go back and give it another go.
