Lugged the ol' black box over to my friend's house earlier. We probably played a good six hours of the demo today. Platinum has done it again! This is my GOTY, hands down.

The good:
- While the steep learning curve may cause frustration at first, the gameplay itself is ridiculous in the best way possible. Multiplayer isn't competitive at all, nor does it try to be. It's just fun. Really, really goddamn fun. Think God Hand + Smash Bros. in the MadWorld universe. An amazing experience
- The netcode is some of the best I've ever seen in a console game. Out of the 30+ matches we played today, lag was only encountered in 3 of them, and it was only game-breaking in 1 of those. We played with people from all over the world; NA, EU, Asia, etc. Keep in mind that this was on my friend's notoriously slow and often spotty connection.
- The bots are surprisingly adept and very fun to fight. Even if you can't play online, you'll still have a great time with the offline bot mode (which isn't present in the demo, unfortunately).
- Every character is fun to play as (the six in the demo, anyway). They're all pretty well balanced, too. Platinum really put in the time and effort to perfect the fighting in this game.
- The OST is superb, especially the character themes. Think MadWorld, but better. There are also instrumental tracks in the menus and such, and they're pretty great too.
- Action Trigger Events, item drops, and other creative touches (such as being able to ride on Jet Mode Garuda in team games) turn an awesome 3D brawling experience into... max anarchy.
- The single-player boss fights are great, if a bit too easy (so far).
- The story mode's writing is hilariously cheesy. I love it.
- The English voice acting is superb. Steve Blum returns as Jack, Arif S. Kinchen is perfect as the Blacker Baron, and they actually gave Sasha a Russian accent.

The bad:
- The controls are a bit strange, and quite different from other action games (including ones made by P*). You'll get used to them quickly, and they're easy to learn, but they could definitely be improved.
- You can't mute online players. I hate listening to people swear, bitch about "cheap tactics", and generally act unsportsmanlike... especially in a non-competitive game like this. Thankfully, not many people use mics in PS3 games.
- The general enemies in single-player pose no threat to you at all (though keep in mind that only the first mission was present in the demo). They're more reminiscent of the cannon fodder troops in Dynasty Warriors than the deadly mooks in God Hand.
- If you're like me, the Rage Mode button mashing battle mini-game will be unwinnable against other players. But you'll be fine if your thumb is fast enough.
- Having to watch the ATE intro cutscenes every time one happens gets old fast.

The odd:
- The grabs have an incredibly long reach... sometimes. I really have no idea how they work at all (but the animations are awesome!).
- They cheaped out on some of the cutscenes in story mode, which are just badly lip-synced talking heads. P* really deserves bigger budgets.
- A female voice announces something near the end of Jack's demo level. The only person I think it could possibly belong to is Mathilda (who doesn't talk), and if that's true, then my perception of her from MadWorld is ruined forever.

Overall, this is one of the most satisfying multiplayer games I've ever played, which will give you an itch that you'll feel a need to scratch. The single-player story mode also seems to be great, though below the par of their previous games. Definitely pick this up if you like playing online or enjoy high quality simulated multiplayer battles.

Some of that footage looks like what Ninja Gaiden 3 would've been if it were made by someone competent. And hooray for multiple weapons! ;D

I think that's why they put Sonic on a hoverboard or a car in the first place, so anyone outracing him could be justified without losing his credibility. Technically only 3 other characters can possibly outrun him, and who wants to play a modern racer with only 4 playable characters anyway? :P
Robotnik. Metal Sonic. ??????

Metal Sonic, Shadow, and Blaze are the only characters who can canonically rival Sonic in speed (though, a scared shitless Eggbotnik has proven to outrun him  :D )

PlatinumGames just keeps on making wet dreams. Hmmm, this game is probably on the top of my most anticipated list since Max Payne 3 is already out.

Shit, how'd I forget about Shadow....oh, I was thinking 2D. Speaking of 2D, Robotnik outruns Sonic & Tails separately in Sonic 2 (and I'm guessing Knuckles in Sonic 2 & Knuckles) and Sonic & Tails together in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Shits embarassing. A fat man in suspenders doing that...

Technically Shadow needs Chaos Control to beat Sonic in speed, and Metal Sonic has always been just short of Sonic. Blaze is probably the only character how is legitimately almost as fast as Sonic without needing tricks.

So Shadow is to Sonic what Zoom is to Flash? Wait what?!

Just downloaded the Max Anarchy demo. How do you change the language to english?

EDIT: Nevermind, figured out how to do it. Basically just go to options, scroll down to the fifth bar, select it and three sub-bars will come out, press left or right on each of them to switch it to english.

Yeah, should've posted that myself.

Glad you like it as much as I do! You guys are on PS3 right? What are your PSN IDs? We should play together sometime!

Rosalinas Spare Wand

I am Basillikos on PSN. I'd be up for some games this weekend.

Rynnec

My PSN gamertag is the same name I go by here. I probably won't be able to actually play online that much, if at all though.
