That said, the final boss is a joke. Bowser sitting in a hot tub and all you have to do is... tip the hot tub over and have him fall out.

I'm not kidding.
That voice acting... Is it any wonder they dropped that in Galaxy? Ugh.

Bowser's voice makes me want to throw up. Just... no...

The voice acting and patheticness of the Final boss (even by Mario standards) really doesn't make it feel like this is a "mainline" Mario title. More like a throwaway spinoff.

I prefer when Mario games don't have voice acting... or text, for that matter. Anyone here play SM3DL? That game was perfect without it. The characters expressed themselves through facial expressions and their typical sounds or single words (like Peach shouting "MARIO!"), as well as through pictures. It felt so right, and I wouldn't mind them continuing this.

It's the rule Sonic 3 & Knuckles laid down. If you have a story, show and don't tell. It works for the Galaxy games and 3d Land, as well as Classic Sonic in Generations.

But I mean, the bosses are so amazing in the Galaxy games (and NSMBWii)... I don't know how they stumbled so hard with that in Sunshine. Were they even trying?

Sonic 3/Knuckles probably as my favorite textless/voiceless story.

That rule can apply to any game... or anything in general. ;)

Yeah. And that's my main point of contention with JRPGs, VNs, and anime... a lot of their writers just looooooove exposition. :wth:

Yep! But when it comes to platformers which are usually games revolving around obstacle courses, the less story and exposition in your face keeping you from the action the better.

Same goes for most action games.

Nintendo announced NSMB2 for the 3DS will be a day one DLC title on the e-shop as well as retail.

They also confirmed the Wii-U will have DLC retail games available at launch.

That's cool, but I'd rather own the cartridge. I don't really dig digital distribution unless it's for PC, tbh.

I have 116 Stars and I think I'm as far as I can go. Those last four stars are some real terrors.

I really hope they show more footage of New Super Mario Bros 2 soon. I wanna like it, but it looks too...samey. Mario Galaxy 2 shows that they can make a direct sequel with even more variety while revisiting the old stuff. But so far, the New Super Mario Bros series plays it really safe. A few new power ups here and there, but otherwise the 2 games so far feel interchangeable.
