The thing about Kirby's Epic Yarn was, while I admire the game for what it tried to do, I just didn't have much fun with it. From the moment I started it, I felt like I had to force my way through it. I can't even remember if I beat it, to be honest. The yarn art style was phenomenal, though, and I will agree that the music was very nice. But overall, I can't say I'm looking forward to its Yoshi successor.
Play Wario Land Shake It and the Goemon games (Yes, Good Feel was the Goemon team at Konami) and look up the comments and gameplay that show far trickier and more superior level design in Wooly World as opposed to Epic Yarn. They have the skills.

Epic Yarn was by far Good Feel's least impressive game, and I thought it was still pretty good.

is wario world the gamecube game?

Yep. It was also made by Treasure. I've heard it's overly short and doesn't really do much with its concept.

But again, I haven't played it, so I could be wrong.

Wario World was... boring. I have the game, and think I played it once. It seemed like it should have been fun, you went through 3D levels with a fixed camera, much like SM3DW, but the level designs were just generic, and the enemy designs were strange. Not in a fun way, just really weird.

Shake It was better, but I don't remember getting very far in that either. Need to revisit it some day.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is okay. It's kind of relaxing to play, but the focus on collecting those gems and not being able to die make it sort of stressful if you're going for that, and really it seems like half the time that that's the only thing to do. Another game I need to finish. Though I've seen the rest of the game on chuggaconroy's YT channel, so I have no real desire to go to it anytime soon.

...I have a lot of old games I started but just never really got through. It always seems to be platformers by the B-list Nintendo icons too.

Epic Yarn has never really interested me. Not my kind of game at all. Woolly World looks amazing, though.

Spark Of Spirit

Shake It is a game that reaches its full potential when you try to get all the treasures and objectives. That's when you realize how tight the game is.

Wooly World looks MUCH closer to that than it does Epic Yarn. Which makes sense since Good Feel has stated they made Epic Yarn specifically to be a relaxing lazy day game what with its low difficulty and slow pacing. Wooly World, on the other hand, doesn't look anything like that from the footage we've seen.

Thinking about it, I think another problem I have with Epic Yarn is a problem I have with several Kirby games like Mass Attack and Canvas Curse: any time they replace the inhale/steal power mechanic with some weird gimmick, I find myself not enjoying the game all that much. I like Epic Yarn more than those two though because it's still close to Kirby's usual gameplay.

And Wooly World at least looks like it sticks to Yoshi's normal gameplay with some added yarn gimmicks. I might not like his games that much but it looks too cutesy not to at least try.

Foggle

Woolly World just looks like Yoshi's Island 2 to me. Because there weren't 3 other sequels already. There is only the original and the GBA port. :sly:

I couldn't get into Canvas Curse or Mass Attack, either. I just heard about the upcoming Wii U Kirby game yesterday, and was bummed to find out that it's a Canvas Curse sequel. :(

I do at least give Kirby credit for constantly trying new things. I'd be all for them attempting a 3D game.

Then you have the 2D Mario games, which haven't changed much in a decade.

Spark Of Spirit

Epic Yarn's grab and throw reminds me of the original Kirby's Dream Land inhale and blow attacks, so I could get behind it. I'm not for powers in Kirby games unless they're in-depth and rewarding to use like they are in Super Star, Return to Dreamland, and Triple Deluxe. Otherwise I'd rather not have them.

I wish 2D Sonic games had that problem.

Yeah, I really never could get into any stylus stuff. The claymation in Rainbow Curse looks fantastic, and I almost want to buy it on that alone, but my fear is that because you need to draw Kirby's paths, you'll be looking at the crappy resolution on the tablet the whole time and not the beautiful HD on the television.

Has it been confirmed that you can't use the Wiimote for the game yet?

That would be a pretty obvious solution to that.

Speaking of 2D Mario, goddamn am I psyched for Mario Maker. I wish they had that thing when I was a little kid.

Oh yeah, that art style is AMAZING. I hope they reuse that for the next traditional Kirby game.

Can you? Because that would be great!
