"Hmm? Where is the satisfying sound of one's impalement?"
YES! I knew I had forgotten an epic one.

I seriously love the dialogue in RE4, especially Leon's. :P

Claire's story arc ends in Code Veronica. Her entire motivation was finding her brother... and she did. I mean, they could probably bring her back, but that would require creativity, of which Capcom is completely bankrupt.

The writers seem to just totally wing it with every single game. They really should have planned out a nice long storyline for future titles to utilize after RE2 sold so well.

My main problem is that the initial storyline (taking down Umbrella) was never given a proper payoff, and was basically just skipped over in 4.

If you don't, you aren't human.

Well, there's always Umbrella Chronic-*is shot*

You guys missed a few:

"I knew you'd be fine if you landed on your butt."

"What's so funny?"
"Oh, I think you know. The American prevailing is a cliche that only happens in your Hollywood movies. Oh, Mr. Kennedy, you entertain me! To show my appreciation, I will help you awaken from your world of cliches."
"You really pushed it!"

"Hate to say it, but we're sandwiched alright!"

"Hoho! Excuse me, your highness!" (I seriously believe that the localizers originally wrote this as "Well excuse me, princess!")

"Its game time."

Eddy

"It's terrorism!"
"Isn't that a popular word these days?"

talonmalon333

"Adios, Leon"
*Luis shoots and kills Leon.*

I'll never forget the first time I found that.

I think I'm done with RE unless the next game really changes it up. As much as I liked Revelations and didn't hate 6, I can't see myself bothering with another installment unless it's closer to the originals, actually a horror game, or that remake of 2. I would also play a full RE stealth game, provided it was like Ada's sneaking rather than Jake's.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

I feel the same way. While RE6 seems to be a fine enough TPS action game (honestly, its no worse than any of the Gears of War games, which are largely guilty of doing many of the same things that critics only seemed to criticize this game of doing), that's not what anyone wants out of an RE game. People have made it clear what they want for years now, and Capcom has foolishly pushed the series in a direction that it was never meant to go in because they want more money. This is also a stupid business decision on their part, though, because if the executives running the company knew anything at all, it'd be that horror DOES sell. I mean, many of the old-school RE games were some of the best-selling games of their time (RE2 in particular is one of the highest selling games on the PS1), and lots of other horror games have sold extremely well this generation, such as Dead Space among other titles. Capcom doesn't have to make RE into Gears of War or Uncharted in order to get more people's attention. They simple just need to play to the strengths and appeal of the series and have RE once again do what RE has always done best, which isn't necessarily in being scary, but being an effectively atmospheric and memorable survival-horror experience.

Indeed. Outside of Leon 2 & 4 & 5 and Ada 1-4, it really is just a generic shooter/movie game. No one will remember it 7 years from now like they do RE 2, 3, 4, and REmake. Hell, most people have already forgotten about RE5, and with good reason. Revelations will probably be remembered though, if only because of its unique place within the 3DS' library.

RE2 and RE4 are actually the series' highest selling games. Unfortunately, RE5 is in third place and also the fastest selling. Generic co-op TPS with mild horror elements RE is here to stay.

I just finished Jake's campaign on co-op (I was Sherry, my partner was Jake) and honestly? I liked it! I went in expecting the worst after what you said but overall I found myself having a good time, aside from a few missteps and some QTE heavy boss fights. I don't know if the co-op had anything to do with that but, yeah, I had a good time. I liked the parts where Jake and Sherry had to be separated at times.

Foggle

I tried playing it on co-op and it was just as bad. My friend hated it too. The only enjoyment we got out of it was making fun of it together.

I've noticed that a lot of people actually seem to like Jake and Sherry's campaign, so you may possibly be in the minority on hating it (not including the classic RE fans who hate the modern games in general). That said, I'd have to play it for myself to judge whether I like it or not.

A lot of people also hate Ada's campaign and think it's the worst one.

Dr. Ensatsu-ken

Really? From what I've seen at least, a lot of people seem to like her campaign the best, but I only go onto general forums and the like, so I don't know what other RE fans might think. From what I can tell, most people seem to hate Chris's campaign the most if only because its a Gears of War knock-off.

Foggle

I'm only familiar with the opinions of GameFAQs users, as while they are often insufferable, they're still better than the folks on dedicated RE forums.

The general consensus actually seems to be Chris > Leon > Jake > Ada, which I find appalling.
